The bathroom has a newly installed shower [2016], lovely mosaic floor, and original art.

The nearest airport to Collioure is in Perppignan and the train station in Collioure is a five minute walk from our house.

Imagine the sparkling Mediterranean encircling an ancient fortressed fishing village with vineyard covered hills above and twisting roads leading down to the #1 best beach Plage Boramar and art town found in the world. The walking streets are filled with narrow stairways and bougainvillea draped pathways spilling down the hillsides towards the protected bay. You'll find restaurants with seafood galore, joie de vivre, shopping streets, galleries and the beach a mere two minutes stroll from our front door. The village is known for it's primal painted fishing boats and it's glorious beaches and was made famous by Picasso, Matisse and Fauvism.

Opportunities abound for the photographer, the artist, the romantic poet; the adventurer; the bicyclist, the skier in the winter season and the connoisseur of culture, food and love in all seasons.

About The Owner

I am a painter and I have always made my living with my art. My husband is a jazz musician and architect.

We have always created interesting environments to include our friends and creative community from around the world.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2006

Why The Owner chose Perpignan Area

I once owned an art school in southern France and took my students to Collioure to paint because it is the most beautiful village on the Mediterranean [in my opinion].

What makes this apartment unique

We grew up on the beach in California and we felt so safe next to the clear and calm Mediterranean Sea in Collioure. We liked that it is an aesthetically amazing environment that looks so perfect that you might think it is a stage set! Plus it is as romantic as all get out.

Map

Collioure is a walking village filled with bouganvillea and exotic narrow walkways spilling down from the Pyrenees to the beaches, seafood restaurants, shopping streets and galleries galore. A perfect environment for plein-aire painting of the colorful boats and harbor, wine tasting in the town and neighboring villages.

An absolutely perfect location for the ultimate romantic getaway or any holiday visit. The village is exactly what a seaside village should be! We went to the Famer's Market and roamed around for hours. I can't wait to go back and would highly recommend staying in Chez Magic!!

Chez Magic uncovered

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I had stayed at the venue 4 yrs ago. The location is MAGIC but I was disappointed that the amenities were lacking-- no toilet paper, garbage bags, tissues. I don't expect food but these missing items are necessities. The other big issue is the lighting. If someone staying in 2nd fl appt and turns on light for stairs the light turns on in the third floor apt. This needs to be changed so each has their own separate control. It is lovely but as I get older sleeping in the loft and needing to use toilet in middle of night disturbing to individual sleeping on twin. Not sure if we will return for a third time.

lovely, creative pieds a terre

  • 3 of 5

absolutely lovely place to stay. artsy, exposed stone, terrific. Downside: the worst mattress I have ever slept on... the worse mattress in france. For $700. I expect a good sleep. Otherwise delightful. I have spent a great deal of time in all parts of France. This is a special little town with very friendly people and many good restaurants.

Great location and an artistic little home

  • 5 of 5

We went to Collioure with my husband for less than a week and felt fully regenerated and back to the love for colors, art, social times, food, the sea. Collioure is an artistic and colorful place by the sea with ancient roots and history that you can taste just walking through the streets, or while lying down by the shore, or swimming in the sea. We stayed at Chez Magic, a little beautiful apartment that has its own personality, one that is colorful and artistic while at the same time lets you feel its old roots. It makes you feel the alive stillness and magic of Collioure while within the apartment and right when you exit it. Its location is really great, hardly unbeatable. It is located within the area in which you can enjoy better what Collioure has to offer, and anything that you may need is within a walking distance. We parked our car the first day close by and did not use it again until it was time to leave. Of course you can drive to other beautiful locations but .... that would be your choice. The only challenge that the apartment could present is its steep stairs but .... they are part of its charm and it is a good exercise. We highly recommend a stay in Collioure and specially in Chez Magic!!!

We loved our little "nest" in Collioure!

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I rented this apartment and absolutely loved it. It is so cute and has the perfect location on the "gallery street" in the old part of town. With no restaurants or bars on the street it was quite at night and because we were so close to the pier and center of town it was a short walk to all the action. We found the grocery stores and a deli and were pleased to have our own kitchen to prepare most of our meals, but did enjoy local restaurants also. The stairs up to the apartment are very steep and tiny, not recommended for people who don't climb stairs well. If you have a huge suitcase, unload it at the bottom, or travel like like we do!

Collioure is a wonderful town for art and history lovers, and the Catalan culture is interesting too. Most tourists seem to be German, few Americans.
