About Jennifer Gray
We’re organic gardeners, naturalists and music lovers. Our lovely hundred year-old Main House, Cedar Studio and passive-solar Cottage, are retreats/rentals for anyone looking for a place to rest, discover, create or just be. Our ten-acre country farm is located at Poché Bridge, just north of Breaux Bridge and right outside Lafayette.
Jennifer Gray purchased this Studio in 1998

What makes this Studio unique
Built as a musician’s studio, the Studio has its own space, yard, firepit and now, its own kitchen and bathroom. We support artisans/artists, and their beautiful hand-made art. Cypress cabinets and table, hand-blown glass and up-cycled lights, hand-forged hooks and draw pulls, locally-made railings, music and art by Louisiana artists are what we think makes Bonne Terre the fa-sheezy place that it is. Come discover, create or just be. Set back near the woods, there is a wrap-around deck and shaded outdoor sitting areas for bird-watching and enjoying the outdoors. Comfortable swing near studio for morning or afternoon coffee or just daydreaming.

Very quiet, relaxing place in a wooded glen.
I’m sitting on the front porch watching the chickens which are extra fancy looking, and listening to birdsong. The studio is beautifully decorated with interesting pieces from local craftsmen and artisans. It has everything you need.
I would love to come back and spend more time.
Super, fabulous, wonderful!
I recently spent 6 beautiful nights and 7 truly relaxing days at this very unique and well appointed property. The location is perfect if you want to "get away from it all", as I did. It is so very peaceful and soothing to the spirit. As for the Studio itself, it was very enjoyable with its combination of funky and upscale décor and art, as well as having all the conveniences you might want from farm fresh eggs and locally roasted coffee, to dvds, books, music, comfortable bedding and more! The crowning jewel is Jennifer, the property owner, who was so very graciously hospitable, friendly and helpful!! I live locally but temporarily needed a place close to home for a stay...now I believe I will make a "yearly retreat" to this hidden gem...or maybe bi-annual!! In other words, I can't wait to go back for another taste of Bonne Terre life!!!
What a great place to stay!
If you want to get away from it all, this is your place! Jen is the best host around too! She pays very close attention to detail and provided us with everything we needed from breakfast food to toiletries. The really nice thing about this place is that it's in the middle of nowhere but close to town so if you want to get away from it all but still stay close, this is your place! We stayed in the studio and it really was a treat. We got to enjoy listening to records on the record player and sitting outside watching all of the farm animals. We are looking forward to visiting again!
Thank you both for being such amazing guests! Anyone would be lucky to have y’all stay at their rental. I so appreciate the love & respect you showed to my Bonne Terre. Please come back any time.
Cajun Courtry Getaway
My wife and I had one of our most unforgettable weekend getaways ever just a 2 hour drive west of our New Orleans home. The Bonne Terre Studio was a major part of this amazing weekend. The studio is located in a wooded area about 5 minutes outside of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. Although not in town, it is close to many must see communities/venues through out the Lafayette/Breaux Bridge/Opelousas area. We greatly enjoyed the solitude of the country life sitting on the porch listening to the wind chimes, birds, and other wild life. The studio packed with all of the amenities you could ask for...including a working record player and albums. And, the host/owner (who lives nearby) is nothing short of amazing. Staying in the studio is more than ample reason to plan your weekend getaway to Cajun Country.
South Louisiana Charm
My wife and I recently spent a lovely evening at Bonne Terre, in the large house, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Full disclosure: Jen is a friend, but that doesn't change the fact that Bonne Terre is a beautiful, incredibly tranquil location (just look at the photos on the website). There is a wonderful organic farm with cows, horses, rabbits, chickens and goats and idyllic vegetable, flower and herb gardens, and a small orchard. Breaux Bridge is set just outside of Lafayette, LA which is a hotbed of Cajun culture and has no shortage of music venues, festivals and food options. (And if you happen to be there during crawfish season, definitely make a trip to Hawk's in nearby Rayne, LA.)
If you are looking to experience authentic Cajun culture, or taking a short trip in the middle of a New Orleans visit, I can't recommend Bonne Terre highly enough.
Bonne Terre is amazing. The Studio was clean and comfortable. Jen was an amazing host.
Bonne Terre is a dream. Deep in Acadiana, Jen has established a refuge, a place where nature reigns and time is slowed.
My wife and I came here in a tour of the South. Jen made us most welcome. She's a gracious host and a kind person. This sense of self is present in her property. She gave us a tour and introduced us to her well loved, beautiful animals. A brood of polish chickens, including Len, her rooster. Matilda the cow running to meet us. Petunia the goose let my wife hold her. We are blackberries fresh from the plant.
We petted the horses. Frogs and fish were everywhere. The studio was immaculate and comfortable. When we laid in bed the sheets smelled of lavender.
The studio was filled with art, music and instruments. If you enjoy it half as much as we did you'll be sure to return.
Get away from it all and connect to Louisiana's Cajun and Creole countryside right outside of Lafayette, Louisiana. Our peaceful farm is a great vacation spot/retreat – excellent for the fine art of relaxing - with lots of natural light and many amenities. Our setting is pastoral and we're within easy reach of so much of south Louisiana's great food, music and culture. Bonne Terre is located about four miles from Breaux Bridge. This quaint little town has an amazing coffee house (Joie de Vivre) that serves delicious breakfast & lunch daily with dinner & music by local musicians on weekends. JDV also hosts a Saturday morning Cajun jam. Buck and Johnny's Pizza, is the home of the Zydeco Breakfast. Check it out on Saturday mornings. So much to see, hear and do! There are also lots of antique shops for bargain hunting and best of all, the friendliest people any where around. For those who love the great outdoors, the Bayou Teche which runs through the town of Breaux Bridges (Bayou Teche Experience for rentals) and Lake Martin and The Atchafalaya Basin are just a few miles away. And, if you love birds, you're definitely at the right place. Bayou Teche Visitor Center, right near the bridge in town, and Atchafalaya Welcome Center are both great places to learn more about our area. Plan a swamp tour. Take a tour of a plantation home, as there are several within a sixty mile radius. There are several little towns to explore nearby - New Iberia (Books along the Teche -best small book store, with many James Lee Burke novels) , St. Martinville,(Longfellow Evangeline State Historic Site Arnaudville (NuNu Arts and Culture Collective), Grand Coteau, & Sunset, (home of Water Oak Farms, The Funky Flea and Jerilyn's Glass Studio) just to name a few, all interesting places to discover and enjoy.
