Why Troy and Kelly Couture chose Pagosa Springs
This was our first home in Pagosa Springs and we have loved our time here. We have entertained our friends and family here during countless summer bar-b-ques. We held our wedding party in the back yard. And we have enjoyed many quiet evenings by the fire. Our dog Kobe has grown into a grumpy old man sunning himself in the yard. We’ve built so many warm memories here that when we bought our new home we just couldn’t bring ourselves to sell it. So we decided to share its warmth and comfort with others. We believe it is the perfect place for families with children, small gatherings or a getaway just for two.

A place to stay where you'll wish you just had one more day...
Honestly, this is the very first review we have EVER taken the time to give on any item - it deserves it!!! The place feels like a home away from home...very tastefully decorated; the owners are obviously very thoughtful of accommodating a variety of visitors. We had the pleasure of meeting the lady who cleans the place-beautiful gal and the place is immaculate!!! The interior design/decor/artistry is eclectic-a treat for any taste in our opinion. It's also located in a nice spot with the lake just 30 seconds' walk from the yard. There's also great fishing for whomever is interested...if nothing else, the view is beautiful. We appreciated the open arms for our children and our dog. The home is fully stocked from laundry, bath, to kitchen...and speaking of...for those of you who appreciate just buying a few groceries and want to make a nice meal...the kitchen is PERFECT!!! Thank you for the spices, vanilla, condiments, outdoor bbq, nice appliances, etc... the kitchen is loaded. Any cookware/utensil/serving dish...they've pretty much thought of it all. Ultimately, this place is great for anyone who's looking for a cozy home to stay in, a nice place to hang outdoors, or just a comfortable, safe place to stay to go enjoy Pagosa Springs!!! Thanks for a great vacation!!! Mike & Reggie Ford, kids & Grandma
We stayed at this condo for several days during September. Quite honestly, this was one of the nicest condos we have stayed at in the area. It was beautifully kept, clean, nicely updated and very well furnished. The owners thought of everything we could have wanted, and they supplied it for us!
Clean - Comfortable - Carefree
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this property. Everything was exactly as described. The owners went so far as to contact me about an early check in as they knew I was staying at another property in the area. Very thoughtful and appreciated. The patio area was amazing and I enjoyed many hours reading and reflecting in the space. Amazing home and owners... Perfect! I will return next year.
Demonic and frightening images throughout the house, dark atmosphere in the house.
We arrived at the house just before midnight on August 7, 2018 after driving from Austin to Pagosa Springs for our summer vacation. My son was the first one in the house and he came out to tell us that he wouldn't stay in the house. My husband and I entered the house to find a picture of a nude woman with horns in the living room and other disturbing images. In the bedroom over the bed was a large relief sculpture of three almost life size faces covered in barbed wire. In the bathroom there was a life size relief sculpture of a face with nails driven through the eyes and face. There were disturbing images throughout the house. The photos displayed on the website were very deceptive because they artfully avoided any display of the horrific images. Since our complaints they have added a few of the images. Needless to say, we could not stay in the house. The nice hotels in Pagosa Springs were full so we had to drive to Durango to find a place to stay. The next morning, August 8, 2018 we called Home Away and informed them that we would not be able to stay in the house due to the disturbing images and asked them to inform the owner. The owner called to say she would remove the images. Unfortunately, once having seen such disturbing images they cannot be removed from memory and the atmosphere in the house was dark and disturbed. I am so sorry that my son was subjected to this, he was quite disturbed by the images. We have been renting places from Home Away/VRBO for many years and this is the first time we have had an issue.
Our guest were scheduled to check in on August 7th. We drove by the house to put the trash to the curb on August 8th, there did not appear to be anyone there. I came by on the 9th to get some firewood out of the woodpile, knocked on the door and saw no sign that anyone had shown up. I was concerned about our guests and asked my wife Kelly to call and make sure everything was alright; during that call our guest informed us that she would not stay because of our artwork and had called VRBO to file a complaint and demand a refund. Kelly asked why she had not called us, we would have had no problem coming over and removing any artwork she had taken offense to, and our guest abruptly hung up on Kelly. As far as the artwork mentioned in her review… the “nude women with horns” is a mythical creature with pointy ears (not horns) in profile with a partial breast showing, which we purchased at a breast cancer research fund raiser. The “face with nails” is one of my creations titled My Marbles Found Me, they are marbles on golf tees rather than nails, just a fun piece I started by shampooing a manikin head with Elmer’s glue and drizzling paint on it, nothing diabolical there. The relief over the bed is another of my creations, if you look, it is not barbwire, but reed mesh with toy army men in the background with a see no evil theme. I am a U.S. Army Ranger Veteran and that artwork is a protest against unnecessary war. Many of our guests have commented positively on the eclectic and whimsical art in the house, including ones with small children. It is not in our best interest to frighten children. When we looked into our guest’s initial correspondence she indicated that her son is 17 years old; we find this reaction to our artwork surprising considering his age. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I suppose the same can be said of darkness. This is our home, and our tastes in artwork are part of what makes this home unique. It is difficult to please everyone! A simple phone call would have remedied all this silliness, we are happy to respond at any time of day or night to insure our guests have a pleasant stay!
Super cozy, everything we needed for a perfect vacation.
We really enjoyed our time in Pagosa Springs. This home is in a wonderful location, had a beautiful view of the lake and the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. The home was decorated nicely and very well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Will stay at this home next time we come.
It was PERFECT!!!
I cannot stop raving about our vacation in Pagosa and mostly thanks to this fabulous rental! We had 4 adults and 2 kids and our dog and we had plenty of space. Everyone slept well all weekend, it was very cozy. My favorite part was definitely the patio/deck in the back! There's a covered patio with comfy padded outdoor furniture, and there's a deck area in the sun with a nice little 4-person dining set with an umbrella. When it rains you can sit under the covered part and listen to the rain, it's heavenly! There's also a grill AND a firepit! (We didn't use the fire pit because of the bans but I'm sure that would have been great too)
Everything was super clean, you can tell they really take care of their place. The bathrooms were cool, the shower/tub in the shared bathroom is HUGE. Plenty of towels available and they even have some toiletries on hand in case you forgot something at home. They have amazing artwork all over the place too! Also, the lake is RIGHT THERE! You just have to walk or drive around to one of the dock areas for access. It was simply beautiful :-)
Pick this place if you're staying in Pagosa!
Pagosa Springs is a year round paradise and outdoor enthusiasts dream, that's what brought us here! Rafting, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, ice climbing, golfing, hunting, fly fishing. Or play it low key and tube down the river with family or friends and stop for a margarita at Kips. Wolf Creek ski area and Lobo back country are at the top of the pass. Snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross country areas are numerous. Chimney Rock Natl Monument, open in spring and summer have outstanding Anasazi ruins, We will be happy to share our knowledge of the areas trails and secret squirrel destinations.
