About Michael Ring

HI , my name is Mike Ring and I am a professional painting and wallpapering contractor from Martinsburg, WV. I have lived here my entire life . I graduated from Hedgesville High School and Shepherd University. I am married to my wife, Sharon, and have 2 sons in their 30s.

Michael Ring purchased this condo in 2013

Why Michael Ring chose Grand Strand - Myrtle Beach

My wife and I have been coming to the Garden City area for about 20 years and have owned several condos at the Royal Garden Resort. We love the resort and enjoy renting out our condo to vacationers who come for a relaxing time.

What makes this condo unique

My condo, #515 is direct oceanfront on the 5th floor. Not too high and not too low--just right. This unit is much larger than most other 2 bedroom condos and is a corner unit . From the balcony you can see the sun rise and set. Beautiful views of the ocean and inlet bay area.

It was ok...might or might not repeat..

  • 4 of 5

There were some really good things and some not so good things.Really good things:excellent location, friendly environment and owner & pools are decent. Would probably repeat just for the views. Also thanks for leaving some rainy day games in the closet that was nice..:)

The bad things were:Carpet at the start of the rooms are worn out and have nails projecting out hence you need to be super careful when walking or have crawling babies.Similarly the tiles/vinyl as well are quite worn out. Both my kids had injuries & had to get band aids. Faucets & thermostat are quite old and especially the faucets very hard to work with. I would recommend a faucet change..similarly the balcony door edges are quite sharp!

Arcade is actually closed since the storm so the picture is misleading or should have an update saying currently closed as that was one of the reason to book. Similarly the towels (6) are only given Monday and Wednesdays and we had no towels & that was a problem and had to go buy considering we had 4 adults.Similarly trash bags as well....

Also there was confusion with reservation as we came on Sunday & office was closed and they didn't give the keys to parking deck people and had to hang around for 30 min to get things sorted out especially considering i called ahead and informed the ETA.

Also the sandy bar food they dont serve yet only drinks..:(

So overall Ok experience and might repeat just for the sunrise..:)

I would have given 3 stars but had to bump it up just for the views....

Owner's Response: In response to "it was okay": I have asked maintenance to install a flooring transition strip to take care of the issue at the carpet. It seems like a lot of the carpets in the building wear faster where the carpet meets the tile. The new protective strip should solve the problem. The bathroom faucets are the kind with one center round handle and they do take a few turns to get used to. They are not old and can be bought today at any Home Depot or Lowes. The thermostat is original to the building but still works properly. However, we will update to a new digital one soon. Hurricane Mathew did some damage to the bottom level where the game room and snack bar are located. The game room is closed at this time as management works to get it up and running. The snack bar is open and owners are working hard to get up to full speed. You may need to purchase some small items during your stay as is the case with most condos. There is a washer and dryer in the condo if you need to wash a load. We believe our condo is a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. It is a great place to just leave your worries at home and rest and have fun. When you live at a place it is easy to see small things that need to be done and to take care of them. Since the condo is a rental, we do value our guests' comments which help us keep the condo in good repair and make it a top notch place to stay. I have contacted management about the check-in delay. We apologize for the wait to access the condo and will work to assure that it does not happen again. Thank you, Mike and Sharon Ring owners

Lovely condo from a repeat renter

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming to Myrtle Beach for the past 11 years and have been renting from the same owners for 6 years. We love this condo and were excited to see the new modern family room furniture and decor and new comfortable beds. The unit is spacious and has great views of the ocean. The unit was very clean and well kept. The condo is family friendly with indoor and outdoor pools, a kiddie pool, an arcade, and a snack bar. The condo is close to many great restaurants and attractions. We plan to rent this condo again this year.

Owner's Response: Thank you Dawn for the very nice review. I have not been back to the condo since the new living room furniture was delivered. The unit is booked until April 1st , so I have not had an opportunity to take new photos and post them on the web site. I plan to go back the first week of April and post some new photos at that time. I understand that it looks great! I can not wait to see it in place. Thanks again, Mike R. (owner)

Great place and time

  • 5 of 5

Loved staying in this condo - waking up each morning to the ocean waves, watching the sunset from the balcony. Great corner unit to see both the ocean and inlet. We have been to this rental for the past 3 years and have already booked our 2017 dates. Condo has all the equipment needed for a great vacation - you can stay in and enjoy the ocean or drive to one of the many locations for food and day trips.

Showing its age!

  • 2 of 5

This was our first year coming to this place. The place was fairly clean, but the furniture is definitely dirty and old and needs replacing.

1. Sliding door handle was broken, they came and replaced it but the door is almost impossible to open, it was a constant struggle that we pretty much gave up on.

2. The AC cannot handle the heat. The living room was probably 76-78 degrees during the heat of the day.

3. The beds are HORRIFIC. So incredibly uncomfortable and squeaky. I felt like I was sleeping on a cardboard box. The pillows were as thin as paper. Bring pillows and bed padding if you come here.

I will likely not be back due to the above issues plus I didn't realize what a "party" area this was. There were Fireworks up and down the beach up until late in the night. I watched people walking along the beach just come into the fence and use the pool at night.

Normally I go to the gulf and for the price of this place, compared to the gulf, I do believe they can put some effort into the furnishings.

Owner's Response: In response to "showing its age", the sliding door has recently received new rollers and is working fine. When we found out about the condition of the door rollers, we had property management contact two contractors to replace the rollers. There was a slight delay in getting the work done as the rollers had to be ordered. This is a common problem with oceanfront properties due to the salt air and water. We have checked with maintenance and the air conditioning seems to be working fine. This August has been the hottest on record according to the Weather Channel and the temps during that week reached 96 degrees. We have not received any other reports concerning the AC from other renters. The furnishings are not old, but the condo is decorated in a country style featuring a lot of wood furniture. We will have property management check the bedding and replace if necessary. The pillows are being replaced. The Garden City area is not a party area and is known as a great family vacation area. Most renters enjoy the fireworks which are legal in South Carolina. The property has full security 100 percent of the time and patrolling of the pools is continuous. It's possible that the people who were coming in from walking on the beach were renters at the resort. Finally, we do appreciate comments from our renters as they help us keep abreast of conditions at the condo. Thank you very much, Mike and Sharon Ring (owners)

Very clean and affordable condo with amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year renting from these owners. You can't go wrong in either of these two condos! These condos offer extra space due to the fact that they are corner units. Which also provides excellent views. Tastefully decorated and plenty of dolphin sightings from the balcony. Communication with the owner is very pleasant and they respond rather quickly. Very willing to help in anyway they can. Thank you Mike and Sharon! We will be back next year!
