Our secluded custom-built Gruene River House and Cabin on the Guadalupe River, is located on a heavily wooded one-acre lot in the Gruene Historic District, on a beautiful 140-foot span of the Guadalupe Riverfront.

Over 100 feet of Deck and Patio spaces are available with the large Upstairs Deck, and an equally large Downstairs Patio, both of which overlook the Guadalupe River with an unobstructed view of the heavily-treed riverbank and undeveloped cliffs. The yard is shaded by huge Cypress, Pecan, Cedar Elm, and Monterrey and Live Oak trees, and is perfect for outdoor gatherings, especially with the group seating areas and the large Stone Fire Ring.

The Main Level includes 3 Bedrooms, the huge Great Room, and the large fully furnished Gourmet Kitchen. The large Master Bedroom has a private full Bathroom, and will accommodate up to 5, with the King-Size bed, and 3-Twin beds in the form of a pop-up Trundle/Day-Bed (2), and an additional single bed. The 2nd Main Level Bedroom has a Queen-Size Bed. The 3rd Main Level Bedroom has a Queen-Size Sleeper Futon, and a Half-Bathroom. The Great Room has vast expanses of Guadalupe River Views, and is open to the Gourmet Kitchen and Living Room containing the shared Double-Sided Fireplace. Additionally, 2 can be accommodated in the Great Room, by using 2 large Leather Sofas as sleepers.

The Downstairs also has 3 Bedrooms. 2 of the Bedrooms will accommodate up to 4, each with a King-Size Bed, a Pop-Up Trundle, and an additional Twin Bed. These also have Full Bathrooms, and sweeping views of the River. The 3rd Downstairs Bedroom will accommodate up to 4, with 2 Bunk Beds, and 2 Twin Beds in the form of a Trundle/Day-Bed. Additionally, there are 3 'floating cots' that can be moved to any room in the House for convenience. All Bedding and Pillows are provided.

The detached Rustic Cabin can accommodate 2, with a King-Size Bed and a Private Full Bathroom. The Cabin also has it's own Private Deck and Fire-Ring and is separated from the rest of the Property by a Rustic Cedar Fence.

The property can easily accommodate 7 couples in Private Bedrooms, and can accommodate an additional 14 people, for larger family/group outings.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have a yearly family reunion at a VRBO rental home and this is the BEST location we've found so far. The house's proximity to the river is perfect (less mobile grandparents could sit on the deck and watch everyone in the river), the supplied kayaks and tubes made a big difference and we loved having all the cooking supplies, condiments, spices, etc. already there.

Chris was very pleasant to work with also. Thank you for making this beautiful property available for vacationers!

Gruene River House and Cabin on the Guadalupe!

Excellent for entertaining clients!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a client trip and were very impressed. It handled all of our needs very well. The kitchen had plenty of space to prepare meals for our group and the inside dinning area worked well in the mornings. The rest of the day we enjoyed the back yard. We did take a float trip and our guide was able to pick us up at the house and we got out of the water at the back yard of the property, couldn't have been simpler. The rest of the day we lounged around on the back patio and near the river. In the evening we utilized the fire pit and enjoyed the fireflies and white tail deer in the yard. Excellent experience and can't wait to do it again!

Fantastic experience and we WILL be back!

  • 5 of 5

Tons of room and all you need to bring is food, drink and the ability to leave the property the way you found it. Great living room and game room areas. Kitchen has all you will need to prep food including spices, spatulas, bowls, the whole nine yards. Nice big bedrooms as well as some smaller bedrooms. In my opinion, the small bedrooms are the best because they are very cool and very dark. We used the big charcoal/wood smoker and it cooked great. Kayaks were a blast, plenty of floatation options (tubes, noodles...). A medium hike or short Uber ride to the Gristmill and Gruene Hall. We will be back for sure, just not soon enough!!!

Huge house great location

  • 5 of 5

We go on a family fishing trip every year, we usually rent several cabins and that gets very expensive. We found this house this year and were so impressed. It literally has everything you could possibly need, all you have to bring us clothes and food. The kitchen is fully stocked, there is more than I even have at home, they anticipated our every need! Plenty of parking, beds galore, and a lot of things to do for the kids. We didn't catch any fish, but the kids got to see deer and ducks that hungodly around the house all weekend. This is definitely our new place to stay every year!

Not returning deposit

  • 1 of 5

Owner has failed to respond to repeated phone calls and emails about the return of the deposit. When he finally responded, several weeks had gone by and he accused us of damage (there was none). Now we have had to hire an attorney to get our money back.

Everything we hoped it to be, and more!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a guys trip with several of my coworkers. Perfect location on the river. Great place to just sit back and relax and enjoy the sound of the river and wildlife. We took advantage of the tubes provided and just sat in the water all day! Fire pit was perfect at night to sit around and tell jokes and stories. Would definitely recommend to anyone with a large group looking for plenty of space and an all around good time.

We have special arrangements with a local River Outfitter for personalized curbside service to our property. Let us know if you need our help setting this up for you, and we'll be happy to make the arrangements, all the way down to your equipment requirements, # of coolers, lunch orders, and specific drink orders - for each individual member of your group. Since we send so many group trips to the Outfitters, they convey a unique discount directly to our Guests, as a courtesy to our Guests for our assistance in coordinating float trips.

The location of the River House & Cabin will enable you take a float trip that begins and ends in Comal County, and IS NOT affected by the new restrictive City of New Braunfels River Ordinances, related to disposable containers, cooler sizes, music volume, number of inner-tubes per person, etc.

'Float Trip to the Backyard'

This is the most scenic and most convenient float trip available. We have made arrangements for the River Outfitter staff to pick up your group in a Private Van, with all of the pre-arranged gear, coolers, lunch, ice, drinks, etc. (We will arrange this for you), and take your group up-River to the First Crossing of the Guadalupe River for drop-off service to begin your Float Trip (~4 hour trip to our property). At the end of your Float Trip, you'll find yourself at our River House's Backyard - where you can jcall the River Outfitter staff, and have them come pick up all the stuff. It's really a great, hassle-free way to go, and you won't have to deal with paying for parking, lugging equipment, shopping for drinks and ice, packing your own coolers, managing trash, or waiting in long lines, etc
