This cottage is just wonderful! It has a great location along Route 6A in North Truro. A private beach with lots of sand and room to play is located just steps outside your back door. This is a bayside beach so the water is relatively calm and warm. When the tide is in, the water is deep. When the tide goes out, there are great expanses of sandbars and flats to explore. You can sit and watch beautiful sunsets over the bay and Provincetown from the colony's private deck. The cottage is spacious with over 1500 square feet of space. There is plenty of space with large bedrooms, a full sized kitchen, a large living room and a laundry room. On a clear day, from the rear deck you can see the last lighthouse on the end of the Cape.
The cottage has been updated and feels very 'beachy'. We try to keep the property in the same condition as if this was our home. There is a large, comfortable master bedroom with a large walk-in closet and a nice queen sized bed. The living room (23x12) has been painted a wonderful shade of sea glass green, has a natural fireplace, two love seats, a couple of white, wicker chairs, a CD player, a nice sized TV. It is large enough to accommodate the whole family and comfortable enough to curl up in with your favorite book. The good-sized (16x11), fully equipped kitchen has pretty much all the necessary equipment to prepare a fine meal or to throw a 'pop-tart' in the toaster. Bedroom number two (14x11) is painted in a light periwinkle has a large wall sized closet and a nice queen-size bed. The cathedral ceiling, ceiling fan and cross breezes, make this a favorite bedroom. The nautical themed, paneled bedroom has two single beds and an armoire closet. Bedrooms 2 & 3 both have direct access to the kitchen.
Dunes Colony was originally a manager's cottage and eight smaller cottages that the owner rented out on a daily or weekly basis. In 1984 the cottages were sold to individuals as condominiums. There are currently nine individual owners who comprise the Dunes Colony Association. Some owners rent out their cottages and some don't. Please be respectful of others and observe quiet hours from 9pm until 9am. The eight other cottages range in size from 400 to 800 square feet. The manager's cottage, #9, is 1600 square feet and is equipped to be lived in year round. The cottages are arranged around a court yard in a horseshoe shape. The open end of the horseshoe faces the beach. It is about 50 steps from the beach side door of #9 to the beach. From the kitchen, on a clear day, you can see the last lighthouse on to tip of Cape Cod. From the rear deck you can see beach and the water. We have a permanent deck built on the beach from which you can watch beautiful sunsets over Provincetown. The beach is quite large and is used by Dunes Colony owners and guests only.
