Beautiful mountain top property, great for a quiet and relaxing weekend
We had a great time, property was exactly as described with plenty of room in 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Nice open kitchen, dining, and family room with stone fireplace. Wrap around porch provides a nice quiet place to relax and have meals outdoors (although we visited over Thanksgiving and it was a bit chilly). Separately, there's a nice fire ring with chairs around.
Tammy met us at the locked gate to the property and showed us around. She warned us in advance that the driveway is steep, and it definitely is. The access to the property is along the highway next to the creek in the bottom of the valley, and the cabin itself sits several hundred feet higher on top of the mountain, which provides beautiful views and more sunshine. I would be a bit nervous driving up the driveway in the rain and definitely in the snow, and probably would not want to bring a sedan up, but we made it up just fine in our minivan. Four wheel drive with good clearance would be the best, but our minivan handled it just fine. The wooden bridge just off the highway looks a bit shaky, but Tammy parked her full size truck on it to show us that it can handle it, and said she has had some bigger service trucks drive across it as well, and we used it for 4 straight days without issue.
Our family loved it as well, and in fact they came to the cabin from their home in Erwin during our stay and we had meals up here, since it's such a nice spot. Our kids loved running around the property, playing in the nice flat field at the bottom of the property and in the woods up top. All in all, we had a great time and hope to stay here again when we return to the area to visit family.
We loved this place!
This is by far one of the best VRBO places we have stayed. The pictures do not do it justice. It is a lovely home, beautiful view, and everything you need to have a fantastic time. We are looking forward to another trip and staying here once again. The driveway is steep but doable.
