Unique space in an ideal setting made our family vacation outstanding!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6, including mom, dad, and kids ages 6, 7, 8, and 11 were fortunate enough to spend three amazing days on the Rainbird! Captain Kelley is very skillful and showed us the sights plus navigated the crowds like an old pro for our 4th of July cruise! There was plenty of space onboard for us to all sleep and relax comfortably. The kids loved watching the boats pass by as we were docked, especially the ones who needed to have the drawbridge raised. We sleep with a sound machine on at home but with the whir of cars from the highway above and the gentle rocking, we slept better than we do at home! Just steps away we found an incredible French bakery, Le Fournil, which we enjoyed on 2 occasions! Try their croques and lemon tart! We also ate at the Eastlake Bar and Grill which is also just a short walk away and it, too, was delicious! We spent the last day playing on the stand up paddle boards and the kayak and the kids had a blast doing that and swimming next to the boat. We could’ve easily spent several more days onboard without running out of space or things to do! If you are looking for a unique experience that will appeal to all ages then I definitely recommend that you stay on the Rainbird!! By the time we left, our family was ready to sell our Lubbock, Tx home and move to a boat in Seattle. The memories that we made are priceless!

Thank you Kelley for providing us with the opportunity to stay on your yacht, I really cannot express how much we enjoyed our experience! We enjoyed meeting and visiting with Sammy, and the rest of your friends!

Fun, different kind of stay adventure

  • 4 of 5

I love camping. Staying on this boat was sort of like camping in that spaces are small but cleverly used.

My husband and I very much enjoyed our weekend of sitting up on the bridge and watching the world of water folks go by. The lake is narrow where the boat lives and right across is the famous Ivar's Salmon House. One could kyak or stand-up paddle board to it very easily. That would be fun. Otherwise, you could do as we did and just watch the boaters drop anchor and pop in there for dinner.

The location of "Rainbird" is between two close bridges on the lake, one of which is the freeway bridge and another small one that is a drawbridge. It was fun to learn the system boaters use to get the drawbridge to open and to watch that again and again. The freeway is very busy of course, so it can be quite noisy. We got used to it.

There is a double bed that is comfortable and another sleeping area for two people, I think. We didn't use that part of the boat. Both ends of the boat, both sleeping areas, have a bathroom and shower. The water was hot and had plenty of pressure.

We couldn't find the dishes at first, but they exist. You have to move a painting and plant that are on their cabinet. Once we got that figured out, all was good. The toilet also needs to be learned, but again, worked fine for us once we understood it.

If this kind of a stay sounds interesting to you, give it a try!

Unique and fun way to visit Seattle!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed on the Rainbird over a long weekend trip to Seattle with our two kids and had a blast! We were there over Seafair and loved watching all the boats passing by. Walking distance to several Eastlake eating establishments, easy pickup area if you’re traveling by Uber/Lyft, one reserved parking spot if you have your own wheels.

There was plenty of space for the four of us with two sleeping areas and two heads plus showers. We also took advantage of the kayak and paddled around the neighborhood.

Highly recommend for a fun and different alternative to a hotel. Kelley was super easy to get a hold of and available by phone to help answer any questions.

We definitely plan on visiting again soon!

Getting on and off of the boat was so difficult. It was really a safety issue!

  • 2 of 5

My husband and I are senior citizens. We could hardly get on and off of the boat. The boat dock is broken and the owner has placed steps on the pier and on his boat. I feared that we would fall every time we got on or off of the boat. The website says 'easy access'! The issue of safety was my major concern. The boat owner said that the dock fell down a year ago. I would recommend that there be a warning on the website about a 'difficult access' due to a broken dock. My husband and I have owned a number of boats and we never dreamed we would have trouble boarding a boat, but we did! We enjoyed sitting on the top of the boat and watching the boat traffic on Lake Union. However, I would not stay again on this boat until the dock is repaired.

We had a great stay on a yacht!!

  • 5 of 5

Two of my girlfriends and myself stayed on Kelley’s yacht for four nights. We had a wonderful time! We were rocked to sleep every night. This was my first time on a yacht and all three of us girls just had a blast. We ended up having to call the owner, Kelley, our first night because we had a little incident that we needed taken care of. He came out at almost 10 o’clock that night to help us out. We ended up talking for quite a while. And he ended up taking us out on the boat the next day for 3 1/2 hours. That was a wonderful side trip that we were not expecting. He went above and beyond just renting his yacht to us. Our second night there Kelley and the three of us ended up all going out to dinner together. He is such a wonderful guy! Very accommodating.

If we are ever up in the Seattle area again we will be sure to rent his yacht.
