This small cabin with porch is set in its own yard with fruit trees and sea views. There is a detached bathroom with a flush toilet, and a cold water shower with bamboo walls covered with philodendron plants. Our little beach is lovely, and a stone paved path takes you from the cabin down to the beach.
We are a small, seaside family farm with lots of Rasta vibes. We live peacefully with bees, chickens, goats, cats and two nice dogs. There is a communal kitchen/living room with free wireless internet. Our area is lovely, with miles of undeveloped coastal wilderness all around us.
You are welcome to use our shop area for meat meals. Our communal kitchen/living room and the rest of the property is vegan. Our sweet little sandy beach is safe for children. You are welcome to wander around, pick fruit, eat non-stop from the table-top fruit basket, and even (if you are brave or interested) to go into the bees with us!
We offer vegan meals in our kitchen, and are happy to tailor the delicious meals to suit no-salt, gluten-free, allergen-free and other very specific dietary needs. We are also happy to arrange meals for you with our neighbors - several of them are well-known for their fish or chicken meals. Just let us know what you need and we are happy to help you!
We are about 1 to 1.5 hours from Kingston to the south, Ocho Rios to the west and Port Antonio to the east. We have a safe and dependable local driver who can take you to attractions all over (including a coffee farm in the Blue Mountains!). You are welcome to jump into the car with us as we go to the island's central vegetable market in Kingston early on Thursday mornings - if you want to experience being surrounded by more food than you have ever seen in your life. Our older kids will be happy to take you on free hikes around the area. And our little town is safe and friendly, with people who will remember your name 5 years from now if you take the time to get to know them. There are so many beautiful local walks that are free and easy. We can arrange for a guide to take you on the famous 3 mile hike to Black Sand Beach and Kwamen falls.
Getting here is easy. You can have us pick you up. You can have us send a local driver. You can easily take a taxi from here to Annotto Bay (supermarkets, hospital, shops, etc) and from there to anywhere. And if you feel like walking, you can get to Robins Bay (2 miles away), where you'll find bars that host parties on the weekends, a really good restaurant and lots more people than in our little village.
There are two other cabins on our farm that will, at times, house beekeeping or essential oil distillation interns. These are mostly college students who are here for a month or more to learn about sustainable top bar beekeeping and the distillation of our local aromatic plants. Our family ranges all over the land on a daily basis, taking care of our pets (goat families, chicken families, cat families and dogs). You will see us picking fruit, running down to the beach, planing boards, making soap, working in the garden, chopping stuff, fighting, etc. We have six boys between the ages of 2 and 16. They are sometimes sullen, sometimes shy, sometimes really nice. This place is 99.9% nature and the little that is man-made is sometimes not enough. There are bugs, so don't be afraid when you see a spider. If you book before you come on-island, we will be happy to provide a packing list that covers everything you need to be comfortable.
Please remember that this is our home, and that this is a family environment, so you and your belongings are safe here. On our property, no one will beg from you, steal from you, try to have sex with you or invade your personal space. Please respect our home by keeping your social life out on the road - no one who isn't staying here is allowed past the communal kitchen. If someone from the town wants you, we will stop them at the kitchen and send a message down to you. Please smoke cigarettes outside. Child molesters and axe murderers please just stay home!
