Villa Valverde is a white villa on an exceptional location. It is set high above the sea with breathtaking views enjoyable both from the garden and from the huge window of the living room. Not to mention that all floors have terraces overlooking the Ionian Sea. It would be truly difficult to ask for a more delightful place.
The villa is on 3 floors, all modernly furnished. The ground floor consists of a big living room, a kitchen with dining table and 2 bathrooms with toilet, bidet and shower. On the first floor are another living room with fireplace and panoramic terrace, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with toilet, bidet and shower. The first bedroom has a double bed, a sofa bed and an en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has two single beds (possibility double bed). The second - and upper floor - consists of 3 double rooms, a single room and a bathroom with toilet, bidet and tub with shower.
Furthermore, the villa is provided with all comforts: from the wireless Internet to the air-conditioning, to a dishwasher and an outdoor shower.
The small garden gives space to a refreshing swimming pool of 8x4 meters (deep 1.50 meter). The pool is open from the 1st April until early November.
From the village Valverde, a beautiful rural road, parallel on the coast, leads to the villa. Undoubtedly Villa Valverde is an excellent base for a cultural and natural exploration of the Eastern Sicily. The stunning baroque towns of Acireale and Catania, the charming Taormina, but also the volcano Etna are all really close. Moreover, thanks to the proximity of the highway (at San Gregorio, 3 km), also the South-East side of Sicily with highlights as Noto and Syracuse can be easily reached.
Guests will enjoy every season in Villa Valverde. Thanks to the presence of a fireplace, the central heating and to the very sunny climate in Sicily, the villa, indeed, offers a pleasant stay also in winter.

Beautiful villa, perfect for a family holiday
This villa was perfect for our family holiday, lit was well equipped, had lots of space and was very clean. The location was ideal for day trips to Mount Etna, Taormina, Syracuse and Savoca (a must if you stay here). There is parking at the villa. We hired 3 cars however the parking was extremely tight on the entrance driveway - there is room outside the property but the security would be compromised; the rental of small cars is our advice. Patrizio and his family who look after the villa were very helpful and I recommend the food cooked by Patrizio's wife (we did on two of our seven evenings here) it was delicious. As it was my husband's special birthday we asked for a cake to be baked by Patrizio's wife, it was beautifully presented and delicious, enjoyed by the whole family. All in all this was a great holiday and I highly recommend this beautiful and very spacious villa.
Ridden hard and put away wet
There is much to love about this property -- big enough for our group of 9, friendly property manager, and nice views. This is the first time I have ever given anything but 5 stars, so I’ll be specific about why we were disappointed. Upon arrival here is what we observed:
-Patrizio, the manager, was very nice and met us at the villa. There was a bowl of fresh fruit as a welcome gift.
-Lights over bathroom mirrors in 4/5 bathrooms didn't work
-Mold/ mildew in showers
-Both showers on the 2nd floor didn’t drain. Patrizio was responsive when we asked for help to unclog the showers
-One shower had very light water pressure and took 5 minutes to warm up.
-Half used bottles of lotion and bath products left by past guests
-Half used rolls of toilet paper in the bathrooms, and no extra toilet paper
-No bar soap or shower amenities
-Hairdryer sticky, doesn't work in most outlets
-Air conditioning units were only in certain rooms on 2nd and 3rd floor; none of them worked
-No air conditioning on first floor
-Kitchen stovetop was small; one burner broken.
-One overhead light in kitchen broken -Leftover food from past guests in kitchen cupboards (jars of half-used capers, sticky containers of salt, sugar, spices, etc.)
-No dish washing liquid
-Desk broken and drawers full of random hardware and trash
-Light switches browned with dirt
-Furniture covered with ratty covers and tables covered with sticky plastic covers (not pictured in online pics)
-Used tea light candles in candle holders
-Art in one bedroom fallen sideways inside the frame, in another room a painting is missing
-Dusty artificial plant decorations. No real plants indoors.
-Many of the outlets not updated and couldn't use without adapter
-Layout: there are 4 bedrooms on the 3rd floor, but only 1 bathroom.
-Too hot if you close windows (no AC) but if you open the mosquitoes get in. Screens needed.
-Restaurant within 50 meters has good pizza. Sometimes they play loud music until 12pm.
-Three large decks with sea views. Two lack furniture.
My husband and I spent two days cleaning and prepping for our guests. We bought toilet paper, table cloths, flowers, bathroom amenities, dish soap, hair dryers, tea light candles, laundry detergent, adapters, etc.
I’m sure this property was gorgeous in its heyday, but it needs renovation. The highlights of our trip were Taormina and Ortigia. If I could do it again, I would find a place to stay in the countryside near Modica.
Spacious property with great views
There were only four of us sharing this large villa so others with larger groups may not find these comments applicable.
The villa is very spacious with lots of circulation and interior and exterior relaxation space.
It is well equipped for a large party although if a large party wanted to eat outside it may be a bit problematical with tables.
Bathroom arrangements are a little strange but there are enough, just not in the right places in my opinion.
The villa was very clean and the gardens and pool well maintained and it is set in a quiet location.
Views from the balconies and garden were stunning,
A restaurant, only one hundred metres from the villa, Ristorante Casalrosato, provided very good and reasonably priced meals and Antonio, maybe the head waiter was exceedingly helpful. We visited it four times in our two weeks.
A Eurospin supermarket is within a tweny minute walk or a similar walk into Valverde to the Paniceria for bread.
Patrizio, who looks after the villa was extremely helpful and always happy to help. His wife cooked us two meals while we were there at 20 euros per person. They were delicious.
Really a car is essential otherwise it would be very difficult to travel around.
I would recommend this villa to anyone but maybe not at full capacity if all adults.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would happily go again.
Beautiful comfortable large house with plenty of spaces for all to hang out separately
Beautiful house located off the beaten track. Patrizio was most welcoming despite our late arrival due to car hire issues at the airport. The location of the house made it completely unsuitable for the large car we had hired. Car could not be driven on many of the small roads surrounding the accommodation. We spent more time than is usual for us at the house due to the driving difficulties in Sicily. It was a pleasure to be at home with a pleasant pool and plenty of areas for all 3 generations of the family to spread out and interact as and when we felt like it. While there was plenty of space for us all some improvements need to be made to the sleeping accommodation on the top floor - another bathroom is needed at this level and the smallest room is unsuitable as a bedroom. Thankfully we didn't need the bed spaces in it as we were a group of 10. Additional air conditioning needed on this level too. Also the freezer space in the kitchen is insufficient for a large group - a small stand alone freezer should be provided. There is a restaurant close by which provides an authentic Italian experience - menu is totally in Italian so Google translate was needed! Accessing any other restaurant/shop etc requires the use of a car as roads are not safe for walking. This is a holiday home to get a truly away from it all Sicilian experience. Would recommend it for use by different generations of the one family.
lovely, clean, peaceful villa
Our second stay at the villa and we were not disappointed, a lovely modern, clean villa with a pool which the children loved. the views took my breath away each morning and enjoyed watching the ships out at sea from the top balcony.
A car is a must, we visited Taormina, Noto, Aci Trezza, and a train trip around Mount Etna. Another fantastic holiday at Ville Valverde
Very impressive Villa
The Villas views are truly spectacular, the interiors are extremely spacious even for our very large group. The meal the owner cooked for us was a highlight of the trip and is a treat not to be missed.
An excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily. The villa lies 4 km from the coast and just five kilometres from Acireale (a pretty little city, built on a plateau of lava, that is known for its Baroque churches). Gardini Naxos, a seaside resort with beautiful sandy beaches, is just 35 kilometres away. Beside it we find Taormina ‘the pearl of the Mediterranean’ and the most exclusive seaside resort in Sicily. Its ancient Greek theatre is world famous for its extraordinary panoramic views. Santa Maria la Scala and Aci Trezza are pleasant seaside villages near Villa Valverde. In the village Santa Tecla, a few kilometres from Praiola, is the renown, but quiet cheap, fish restaurant “Da Lorenzo”. Villa Valverde is also an excellent base from which to explore Mount Etna and its surroundings. The villages of Etna, such as Trecastagni, Zafferana Etnea e Randazzo, are famous for their ancient lava flows, the architecture of their seventeenth century churches, their delicious local produce and the hospitality of the villagers. Situated 700 metres above sea level, they are a favourite retreat of the city dwellers who, in summer are in search of cool, fresh air, while in winter are in search of snow for skiing. Few people are aware that Etna is a popular location for skiers in winter. On some glorious days in winter, it’s even possible to ski the frozen slopes in the morning enjoying a wonderful panoramic view of the Mediterranean, and then, the same afternoon, go and sunbathe on the beaches below!
