A great vacation!
The studio is very well kept and equipped with everything you need, and it is roomy enough for two adults and a child/two. The owner is a very nice and helpful person. While the complex is not right on the ocean, it takes less than a 10 minute walk or a 3 minute car ride to get there (BTW, the parking is free at all public beach access points throughout the island). The balcony faces the ocean, a great view. There is a condo swimming pool also facing the ocean, you can see it from the balcony too. The nearby beach is great, it has a set of coral reefs, one is literally a few meters from the beach, we saw baby barracudas, groupers, lion fish, and a lot of other tropical fish. The Grace Bay beach is a 15 minute drive. Everything is close - for food we shopped at the IGA Supermarket on the Leeward Drive and Graceway Gourmet (the food is more expensive than in New Jersey, but that is expected). Make sure you drive around the Chalk Sound and Turtle Tail to enjoy wonderful views of the ocean and some fantastic villas over there. We had a great vacation, and loved the place.
Clean, well maintained, convient
This condo is perfect for a couple looking to get away and relax. It is well stocked with supplies. The kitchen has all the tools to create a nice meal, there were plenty of towels, and a washer and dryer. The owners have some pool / beach supplies including snorkel, fin, beach towels, and noodles. The balcony is nice to hang out in the morning with your coffee or in the evening with a glass of wine. The road in front of the condo (lower bight rd) has sidewalks for walking and running. Running to the Seven Seas is about 4 miles each way.
Travel suggestion - book a car online before traveling. We got an Alamo car for $22 a day vs $45 for the guy who got a car at the airport the day he arrived. Driving on the left and the traffic circles are challenging but take it slow and the drivers in Provo are very forgiving of mistakes. The cars are underpowered, right hand drive and the windshield wiper and turn signal controls are reversed. Buy the end of the week you will get used to it. The road signage is poor. Figure on passing things and doing U-turns. Major roads are paved, side roads can be gravel. the Leeward "highway" has a speed limit of 40 and side roads 20, which seemed to be universally ignored. That said, the traffic circles slow things down to a tourist manageable speed. Gas was about $5.55 a gallon.
Restaurants were all good, with good sized portions. Figure $60 for two people for lunch. Service was good everywhere we went. - Mango's, Kalookis, Bogaloos, and Fresh Catch. We brought food in and ate in the room for breakfast and dinner. IGA grocery store is close and has all the items you expect at home just 2 times the price. The breads are great, donuts not so great.
Snorkeling - we went twice to a road off Bight Highway. I don't think it had a name but there is a sign for Coral Gardens & Somewhere restaurant. Park at the end of the street and a short walk to the beach has an area where you can swim around a roped off coral reef. Safe & Easy access for novices. Went to Smith's reef but didn't actually snorkel there.
Unmarked on the normal maps you find is the TCI Cultural Marketplace off of Princess Dr. There is a little sign after you pass Mr. Grouper's restaurant and you take a left down a road before you get to the Alexandria and Somerset Resorts. They have all the same souvenirs you find at Salt Mill and Port of Call but they are less expensive if you are looking for trinkets to return home with.
Awesome place, awesome view, awesome host!
Nice view, vibe, modern, loved the finishings...i.e., newness of the quartz countertops, tiled bathroom, nicely modern and decorated. The balcony was the perfect place for morning coffee. Very big and beautiful views. Location is in Turtle Cove. Everything in TCI seems to be 10 minutes away and I found that to be true. Airport, Grace Bay. Snorkeling on Smith's Reef is only 5 minutes. So incredible we went twice. We liked the entrance all the way to the left on Coconut Road. Just swim far enough out to find the reef. The condo was well equipped, super clean, the washer and dryer a plus. No complaints whatsoever and Cindy is so helpful and responsive. Driving on the left side of the road was a learning experience but you do need a car to get around and we felt better after a few days experience. Would highly recommend staying here.
Fantastic place with a fantastic view at a fantastic price. I could not ask for anything better.
We will be back!
We absolutely loved everything about our stay! The bed was comfortable, the unit was clean. AND THE VIEW... simply amazing. We rented a car, and I recommend it! Pool area was nice to come back to after a day at the beach. This was our first trip to Turks and Caicos and we will definitely be returning!
Quaint studio with a fantastic view
From what I can tell, La Vista Azul is a building with separately owned condos and overseen by a property management company. Cindy's studio was the perfect getaway for a girls' trip to Turks and Caicos. We rented a car and had no problem getting to the building based on Cindy's directions. There is plenty of parking in the garage below the building -- just note it is a tight fit and we needed to be conscientious when parking and backing out.
The building is centrally located, but there aren't a ton of restaurant/shopping options within walking distance so I'd recommend getting around via car. Also, when you want to go to the beach, having a car makes it easier to haul all of your beach gear. There is a cute little gelato place in La Vista Azul and the building has two beautiful pools.
Cindy's studio is on the second floor and right across from the elevator so access is easy. There's a fully stocked kitchen with pots, pans, glasses, silverware, cooking utencils, a coffee maker (with filters), toaster, oven, stove, microwave, dish washer and fridge. Cindy also keeps snorkles, masks, fins, two beach chairs, umbrellas, a cooler bag, a styrofoam cooler and beach towels in the closet for you to use. There's also an ironing board, iron, clothes drying rack and hair dryer. The property management company provides professional cleaning after every stay so the place was spotless.
The best part is the absolutely stunning view from the balcony. Every morning we woke up to see a panoramic swath of bright blue stretching as far as the eye can see.
Cindy was a fabulous host (even from thousands of miles away). She was extremely responsive and contacted the property management company right away when we needed additional paper towels and toilet paper. Prior to our stay, she also provided helpful information sheets about her place (simple reminders on how to open/lock the door, etc) and suggestions on local restaurants.
We can't wait to come back and would definitely recommend Cindy's place to anyone travelling to Turks and Caicos.
Turtle Divers for scuba and snorkeling trips located across the street. Thursday night Fish Fry in Bight Park. Take the TCI ferry to north or middle caicos for the day. Conch farm. Grace Bay, Coral Gardens. Shopping. See the beauty of Chauk Sound.
