About the property

Comfortable and sunny One Bedroom Suite in Family home with separate entrance

The suite features a full kitchen, laundry, a large bedroom and eating area. A covered patio is located just outside of your private entrance should you wish to watch the birds or enjoy a cold drink after a day of taking in the amazing hiking trails nearby.

Our beautiful serene valley has a lot of natural beauty, but no cell service, so if that's important to you then we aren't a good fit.

The suite has it's own entrance and lots of parking. Our family (husband, wife, daughter and oversized dog) live on the level above the suite.

Near lots of great hiking trails, Matheson Lake, and less than 1 km to the Galloping Goose trail. Fishing opportunities are endless with Pedder Bay and Cheanuh Marina just around the corner. Great for cycle travelers and kayakers and people who enjoy nature.

A Very Special Place to be.

  • 5 of 5

We spent six nights in Shannon's Counrty Living Suite in the Victoria Metchosen Area over the Christmas Holiday.

We found our accomidations very comfortable with all the amenities

we needed.

Shannon has added a very warm welcoming touch stocking the kitchen with some very nice locally grown foods to get you started with your stay.

The bacon was the best along with the ginger cookies not to mention the red wine. A very nice gesture indeed.

The suite was very spacious to accomidate the two of us and having laundry facilities was an added bonus.

We would definitely book this little getaway again.

Thankyou for making our stay so enjoyable

Quiet, cozy, comfortable and clean

  • 5 of 5

Nice place to escape from the busy city life. New , clean and well equipped. Comfortable bed in spacious, bedroom. Lots of windows bringing natural light with nice, modern blinds for privacy if required. Small office if you need to do some work on your laptop. No cell phone signal (what a blessing :) but very good Wi-Fi.

Cozy, well-equipped apartment

  • 5 of 5

I spent a week here when I visited the area to volunteer for a local organization. Being able to cook my own meals was a key factor in choosing this rental. The apartment was spotless, well-equipped, and cozy, and the bed was really comfortable. The kitchen was stocked, with fruit, bread, milk, cream, eggs, bacon, and more---even a bottle of wine. Shannon and Miles are gracious hosts that attend to the important details. I hope to come back next year.

If you are looking for some solitude, this is the place! it was a spacious, comfortable suite, with lots of natural light and beautiful views of the forest. Our hosts were very attentive to our needs, and when we needed something, it was at the doorstep in 30 seconds. We will definitely stay here again!

Great hospitality

  • 5 of 5

Very nice basement apartment. The kitchen was well stocked with more than enough for our stay. Quiet location. There is good WiFi, so the lack of cell phone coverage was really not a problem. I would stay here again.

Great quality place

  • 5 of 5

If you need to stay in Metchosin this is the place. Huge bright basement suite with everything you need and more. Was so excited to open the fridge to see Red Barn Bacon and the owners farm fresh eggs for us to enjoy.

Great towels and comfy bed!

A beautiful lake and beach is just a few houses down the road with a great walking trail.

We will be back for sure!!

I found the cell service to be non existent except on the last day i got a few bara in the kitchen.

Great wifi though.

This place is out of the way of the city but thats what makes it great.

Our family was only a 2km drive away so worked perfect for us.

Thanks again to the owners! Wonderful setup

About Shannon Schafer

My husband and I were born and raised in the Victoria area. Our daughter was born in 2008 and is enjoying being raised in rural Metchosin.

Shannon Schafer purchased this house in 2008

Why Shannon Schafer chose Victoria

Our property is a lovely oasis outside of the city. We love this property because of the fertile soil, huge surrounding trees and starry night skies. Great for bird watching, or relaxing after a great day of exploring the nearby fishing grounds, beaches, hiking trails or the city of Victoria.

What makes this house unique

We're within 1 kilometer of a great lake for swimming or hiking, two fantastic marinas for fishing or boating from, and very close to the Galloping Goose trail which runs from Sidney, to Victoria and all the way out to Sooke. Fantastic for outdoor enthusiasts or those looking to getaway from the city.

Very close to Matheson Lake, Pedder Bay, and Glenrosa Farm Restaurant. There is a farmers market in Metchosin on Sunday mornings from May - October in the Metchosin core a few minutes away. Nearby MyChosen Cafe is a local favorite as is MyChosen Pizza (which conveniently delivers to our home).

That said, some people value our area because it's away from the city. It's quiet, forested, and a great place to unwind.
