Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for this amazing vacation spot! We loved everything about our stay on this beautiful lake. We drove to nearby towns for fun activities and relaxed at the house. The lake is so quiet and we heard the loons many times! We brought our lobster back and cooked it in the pot you provided. Thank you for the booklet of local activities and restaurants. That was very helpful. The kayaks were so much fun for our kids. They had fun fishing and swimming, too. This is really such a beautiful location. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Beautiful cottage on Peabody Pond

  • 5 of 5

We had such an amazing time at this lakeside cottage. We found Peabody Pond to be peaceful and serine. Day trips to Cape Elizabeth and Long Lake were also very fun. Kayaking and fishing Peabody Pond was relaxing and fun. The cottage was very clean and had everything needed. Extremely happy we found this cottage.

Wish we didn't have to leave.

When you get back from vacation and start looking for properties for sale near the cottage, you know you've found a special part of the world. Needless to say, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Our hosts made sure we had everything we needed, and even left a much appreciated bottle of wine for us to enjoy.

The owners have done a beautiful job to make the cottage modern, but still retain all of the coziness that you would expect from a cottage in Maine. Despite the modern amenities, our family of four had so much fun outside that we never once turned on the smart tv that was loaded with Netflix, etc. Our days were spent waking up to gorgeous sunrises, drinking coffee on the deck overlooking the peaceful lake, and then jumping in to our swimsuits for a day on the water. It was awesome to have two tandem kayaks provided so we didn't have to worry about bringing our own. When we were up for adventure, we paddled out to a little island and ate picnics on the boat... and when we felt like being lazy, we just floated on rafts, or took a nap in the hammock or read a book on the chaise lounges. After a long morning on the water, we'd head back for lunch and a board game or two. We cooked most dinners at the cottage (having stocked up on gorgeous produce, milk, cheese, and meat at the Saturday morning farmers' market in Bridgton). By 7:30 we were all asleep (and I'm a night owl at home).

The cottage was hard to leave, but we did venture away a few times. Bridgton is such a charming little town, and only 10 or so minutes away. We ate a great breakfast at Beth's, and an amazing lunch at Standard Gastropub. My daughter had fun hitting some balls at the Bridgton Highland Golf Club, which was perched high enough to have beautiful views of the area. On another day, we took an incredible hike up the Micah Trail to the South face loop overlooking the White Mountains, and many lakes, including Peabody Pond. We finished that day picking loads and loads of blueberries, and the girls exclaiming it was the 'best day ever!'

It was a great week, filled with lots of memories, and we couldn't have asked for a more kind, and accommodating host family. 2 thumbs up all around!!!

Beautiful location and home.

We had an exceptional stay thanks to our gracious host. They were at our fingertips for questions , maintain a clean and well decorated home and even left a bottle of wine! I traveled with both a three and twelve year old and they were never bored; swimming, fishing, blueberry picking, kayak g and snorkeling. We will definitely return as I think I finally found a place my husband will actually relax!
