Great apartment on the outskirts of Rome
We had a great time at Fabiano's apartment. It is just as it looks in the photos. Reviewers were right - the mattress is very comfortable (which is pretty rare for a rental). Fabiano was very nice in meeting us at the apartment when we arrived and showing us everything. He has a great binder with maps, transportation schedules, restaurant recommendations, etc. He also checked in with us via email a couple of times during our stay to make sure things were going well and to see if we needed anything. The apartment is very comfortable and the garden area is a bonus. The Pigneto neighborhood has a lot of great restaurants, many within a few blocks of the apartment (MILE and Va.Do were our two favorites). The apartment is very close to public transportation (tram, bus and Metro). We stayed there for a little over a week and used all forms of public transportation. The rides were usually about 30-60 minutes each way, depending on where in Rome you were trying to go. The Citymapper app makes it easy to map your route (Google maps also works). Rome is a big city with traffic, so even short distances can take awhile to travel by car. Depending on the route and time of day, the buses/trams/Metro cars can get VERY crowded - be prepared. :-) We had enough time to pursue a fairly leisurely schedule, so that was fine for us. If you were only gong to be in Rome for a few days, you might want to stay someplace a little closer to the main sights. We also took train trips to Ostia Antica and Orvieto, which were great. We had a driver bring us to the apartment when we arrived because we weren't sure that we wanted to deal with figuring out the train/bus system after a long day of travel, but on the way home, we took the tram and train to the airport and it was easy (we had an early flight, so we didn't have to worry about squeezing our luggage onto a crowded tram). I think there is good nightlife in Pigneto, but we were focused on sightseeing during the day, so that wasn't in the cards for us. :-) I think the building only has 6 apartments in it - we only heard the upstairs neighbors one night and only saw one other neighbor the entire time we were there. We heard the occasional street noise at night, but for being in a large city, I was surprised at how quiet the apartment was. If you are looking for a nice apartment with great dining options nearby, this is a great option.
We fully recommend it!
Fabiano is a wonderful host who took care of everything we needed. The apartment very quickly felt like home. Everything you need is there, the garden and the terrace are wonderful, also during rainy days! The flat is perfectly clean and very nicely furnished. Lots of little details create a warm atmosphere. And the area is the best experience ever, with a fantastic variety of interesting restaurants and bistrots — and a perfect contrast to the very touristy hot spots in Rome (whilst still being so close). Food in " Bar Necci " which is 50m from the appartment is outstanding, and in walking distance there are many favourite places to eat (which were also recommended by Anthony Bourdain and the New York Times) as: Primo, Betto E Mary, I Porchettoni, etc. Thank you Fabiano, and hope to see you again in Rome! Best, Eloisa
Stylish flat, perfect stay, fantastic area
Our stay at Fabiano's apartment was fantastic. A really stylish flat with everything you need for a comfortable stay. In a fantastic neighbourhood, it felt really safe and friendly. Some amazing bars appear in the evenings, perfect for aperetivo and a few drinks close to home after a day in the city. Fabiano was a fantastic host. He communicated regularly to plan the stay. He even met us from the bus to take us to the apartment, showing us some great places to eat and drink in the area along the way. Bus connections to the city were ideal. Really easy to get to from Roma Termini and to places such as the Coloseum. On the map it looks quite far out of the way, but Pigneto is such a great area, really easy to get to. Highly recommended for an experience which takes you far away from the tourist traps of Rome. Great to mix with local people along with prices for food and drink way cheaper than that of central Rome and at a a much better quality. Would love to come back. Great to meet you Fabiano, hope to see you again, maybe in Edinburgh! Ciao!
A little gem - I highly recommend staying here
Great great stay at Fabiano's. He was there to greet me at our arranged time and was full of suggestions and information about Rome. He was also available whenever I had a question-his response time was immediate every time. The apartment was exactly as described, had everything I needed, has a fantastic shower and incredibly comfortable bed. Having the sitting area outside was a real bonus. Good connections with public transportations. Pigneto itself was a great neighborhood to stay in. Very safe, full of excellent restaurants and bars, great street art, incredibly friendly people. It was a wonderful escape after a day in the city, especially if you want to learn about the real people who live in Rome. I highly recommend staying here. I will when I visit again. Thanks for everything Fabiano!!
