A lovely cottage for a short break
A great base to explore Oxford, Blenheim Palace and the River Thames. The cottage is well presented, clean and the welcome gifts of flowers and a cake together with the bread and milk were much appreciated. The cottage would benefit from having some more local information and a book of local walks available. We were disappointed that the marked footpath down to the river was padlocked shut with no access.
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend break, thank you for the use of your cottage
Thank you for your kind review and very glad you enjoyed your weekend! I will make sure we get some more books on walks - they keep disappearing... So sorry. - Not sure which footpath down to the river you are talking about - we don't have a footpath over our farm. There is a lane at the bottom of our fields that goes down to the river and that is certainly open, even drivable.
Hope to welcome you back again!
A well placed little cottage, though it is a little 'tired'
Very handy for us as were supporting family close by. A few bits and pieces need to be mended and a local map / ideas for walks etc would be welcome. A few books would be lovely too. The person who comes to clean/tidy is very helpful - thank you Claire - she was very prompt when the frnech doors wouldnt open and arranged them to be mended.
Thank you for letting me know about the local map and book with walks missing. Always used to be there. Maybe still is someone's rucksack? I will get another. Glad Claire got the French doors sorted straight away. She is very good!
Cosy & warm in a peaceful location. Very comfortable.
Glad you enjoyed your stay!
Loved the countryside
We enjoyed staying at the old staple, thank you for the flowers and the cottage was lovely clean. Thank you
Thank you for your nice review and very glad you enjoyed your stay!
Schönes Landhäuschen, ruhige Lage am Land, gemütlich eingerichtet
Betten könnten komfortabler sein-weiche etwas dirchgelegene Matratzen.
Schöner Garten. Nette Terrasse
Thank you for your kind comments!
Excellent location and beautiful setting
We stayed at Old Stables for a week with our two children and found the location to be perfect for exploring the Cotswolds and beyond. Only an hour drive to Highclere Castle, Warwick Castle, Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio Tour and Heathrow/London. The kitchen was well stocked and there is a Sainsburys market in Witney for groceries. It was such a pleasure to wake up each morning to the sound of sheep and roosters from nearby farms and look out over the fields from the back garden.
Very happy you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you back again!
The Old Stables is on a small country road, half way between Witney and the little village of Crawley. It is out in the country, on a working farm, but within only a mile and a half of the thriving town of Witney, with its many amenities - and free parking! The house sits in the grounds of a larger house and has no other close neighbours. It's at the top of a hill and overlooks the beautiful Windrush Valley with a view in the distance of Witney itself - an idyllic setting.
We're only 8 miles from Blenheim Palace in one direction and the pretty tourist village of Burford in the other, and only 14 miles from the University city of Oxford.
