About Katie McGinn
Katie & Ian McGinn are thrilled to be the new owners of Burton Mill. Originally from the Northeast we moved to Georgia 6 years ago. We are working parents living in the East Cobb area with our two children (Nolan & Ellery). We recently purchased this beautiful home to enjoy time away as a family. Between work, school and sport commitments we have decided to also rent - so you could possibly enjoy this special place when we are not able to!
Katie McGinn purchased this House in 2017
Why Katie McGinn chose Tiger
We feel so blessed to have found this property. Ian and I grew up enjoying the mountains and lakes of New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont. Lake Burton & the North Georgia Mountains feels like home to us. A great escape from the insanity of work, schedules, activities and sports! Here we just focus on being a family and enjoying all the outdoor adventures right at your fingertips!
What makes this House unique
This is beautiful cabin is serene, but gives you access to so many outdoor adventures - for all seasons. You can sip your coffee (or wine!) on the back porch while listening to the sounds of nature, or choose to hit the nearby lake or mountain trails for a day of activity. Nothing better than ending your day with a fire pit and s'mores with the family.

Beautiful ~ Perfect ~ Relaxing
Spent a long weekend with the family at this absolutely lovely cabin ~ beautiful both inside and out with plenty of room for all 10 of us. We cooked several meals and everything we needed was right at-hand. Sitting around the fire pit was so enjoyable and the highlight of our trip. Thank you to the owners for providing such a warm and inviting environment!
Perfect for a Girls Weekend Getaway!
We booked the cabin to come up for Stonewall Vineyard's Harvest Stomp, and the cabin was less than 15 minutes away from the vineyard.
Upon arrival we were immediately taken with the decor inside and how spacious everything was. The house has three stories with the loft/ 4 single beds/bathroom upstairs, the kitchen/living room/dining area and half bath in the middle and the master bedroom/ queen sized bedroom downstairs each with their own private bathroom.
The kitchen was stocked with basic spices and necessary pans/plates/utensils. We were pleased to be able to get some essential groceries from the store ( about 20 minutes from Ingles in Clayton).
The porch off the kitchen was the perfect space for playing games, which were provided as well (we really enjoyed the old school bingo).
The fire pit out back was amazing at night, and the owners provided a large quantity of pre-cut wood to use and we were able to enjoy making s'mores at night.
We were very impressed with the layout of the bedrooms and how everyone was able to have their own amount of space. 9 women in one cabin, and every one had enough space to spread out and get ready. Not to mention that the hot water was ALWAYS hot and the water pressure was great! The upstairs bathroom attached to the loft had the perfect amount of counter space so that everyone wasn't struggling to share a mirror. The master bedroom has the most comfortable king size bed! And the porch attached to the master bathroom gave some privacy to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. There were plenty of extra towels in the linen closet in the master bathroom in case we needed them.
The cell service was non-existent once you get to the cabin, but we were able to easily connect to the WiFi and use that. The instructions provided to us by the owners made checking in and checking out a breeze.
Each of us had a favorite feature in the house and we have definitely discussed coming back to Burton Mill as soon as we get the chance.
Cozy, stylish mountain home
From the time we set up our reservation to the questions we had right before our trip, Katie was VERY easy to work with and attentive to our needs. The home is unique and stylish in its decor yet very comfortable and roomy. The location is close enough to nature and shopping that it meets a variety of interests for visitors. We would highly recommend this lovely home!
Beautiful home and great stay
Staying here was a pleasure, and we would definitely come back. The lovely home is beautifully decorated and well-stocked with towels, kitchen equipment, etcetera. It's obvious thought and care have been put into the design and upkeep of the home. The screen porch was a peaceful area to relax, and we enjoyed cooking dinner on the gas grill and making s'mores in the firepit. There's a path down to the small creek at the bottom of the hill. Each bedroom has its own connected bathroom, which was convenient for our group, and the wifi and handy upstairs desk area made it easy to get some work done. Katie's instructions and information were clear, and she was very responsive and helpful.
The home is only a couple of minutes drive to the nearest public boat ramp on Lake Burton and less than 10 minutes from the Anchorage marina, where we were able to rent a boat. There's a small public swimming area not far from the marina as well. Clayton, which has some charming stores and restaurants as well as a Super Walmart for basic groceries, is about 20 minutes away, and there are some small stores and casual sandwich shops within about 10 minutes of the house.
Delightful and beautiful
The home is beautifully decorated and each bedroom has its own bath. The outdoor spaces are simply delightful and very peaceful. The home is easy to get to on all paved roads. The homeowner was more than helpful and very eager to help make the stay wonderful. The home is a gem and we recommend it to anyone coming up to that area, it's quite a delightful getaway stay.
Our family so enjoyed their stay at Burton Mill. The cottage is beautifully decorated and well equipped. The sound of the creek was lovely on the porch and the privacy unparalleled.
