About Donna Grizzle

We live in Alabama and enjoy traveling to new places. We purchased vacation rental property as an investment only but soon decided we'd rather handle the rentals ourselves. All of our guest are very important to us so we continuously strive to make sure they all will want to return.

Donna Grizzle purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Donna Grizzle chose Trappers Ridge

After searching many resorts in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area we fell in love with Trapper's Ridge Resort. We really liked the fact that it's not crowded with too many cabins so it's perfect for a quiet, relaxing place to stay. The convenience of being only 3 miles from the main parkway and all the activities is a great bonus.

What makes this cabin unique

We both love the cozy feel at Bear Love, it's like a home away from home. We spend a lot of time on the back porch, our favorite spot. It's where we read or enjoy the hot tub and it's very relaxing.

My husband and I loved the cabin and the location was great!!!! This cabin was great for our 15th year wedding anniversary. Donna was great and very personable and made it very easy. We would highly recommend this cabin and Donna to friends and family. We will return to this cabin or Bear Heaven. We wish you had a bigger cabin to bring our children with us because Donna is great to deal with.

Beautiful Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Donna was such a pleasure to work with. The cabin was exactly as described and the pictures just do not do the property justice. The driveway is a bit steep but Donna warned me ahead of time so I have no complaints. The bed was very comfortable, the hot tub and whirlpool tub were amazing. The cabin had all the amenities we needed and the price was incredible. It was a very quiet area. My husband and I will stay again if we are back in the area.

We stayed in the cabin for 5 days and we were thoroughly pleased. The cabin is very easy to get to. My wife doesn't like steep and narrow mountain roads. It has great views and is close to everything, yet secluded enough to feel private. Donna was very easy to deal with through the process. We will stay here again next time we go to the area. I wish they had a bigger cabin to fit our entire family. We may just look at renting both cabins if our adult kids come along next time.

Extremely disappointed and a few words of warning

  • 1 of 5

My wife and I planned this as a stop on our honeymoon and sadly ended up leaving a night earlier than our reservation was for due to multiple issues. On our second day, the air conditioning went out. We thought it may just be a setting, but after letting it sit all day, the cabin was still at 83 degrees which is quite uncomfortable. After being told by the owner that it was too late in the evening to do anything about it, we were recommended to open windows and stick it out in the heat. Due to conditions my wife and I have, we ended up having to leave because we couldn't sleep in the heat. The following day, the air conditioning was fixed and we decided to try out the hot tub. Before we got in, we noticed hair floating in the tub with "white bodily fluids" slimed all over them. But really, the reason for the one star review was the way in which the owner handled all of these things. In reference to the air conditioning, we were informed that she did "everything she could" and that it was not her responsibility. And in reference to the pictures we sent of the "unclean" hot tub, we were accused of planting or faking the pictures and the issue was ignored. Even with all these issues, and having to leave for a night, we were not even offered a 1 night refund as the owner felt it was "not necessary".

We were sorely disappointed with the way in which we, as customers, were treated as we felt as though the owner didn't care a bit. She even didn't respond to our attempts of contact for a full 24 hours during our stay in reference to the hot tub, as if we weren't important. The only gesture offered was a voucher for an extra night stay in the future as long as we came back and paid her more money, which as you would imagine, is the last thing somebody would want to do in our situation.

Although I'm sure the owner will have some sort of response for our review, and will most likely want to belittle, discredit, or bash her previous customers, we just wanted to provide some warning as you are looking to pick out a vacation spot. The owner treated us very unprofessionally and completely ruined our stay. Please don't let her do this to you.

Owner's Response: Even though the guests were aware that the a/c was not working properly before noon after the day of their arrival I was not contacted until 9:30 pm. I immediately contacted an HVAC technician and as promised they were there the following morning and the air unit was fixed. During our conversations I checked the current temperature at Pigeon Forge and it was 68 degrees that evening. Even though it was not required per the rental agreement I offered a free night in the future which was declined. The hot tub constantly circulates. Anything floating on or in the water is going to be pulled into the skimmer within hours. It would not be floating or remaining for 3 days. I have a very trusted and worthy housekeeper of 4 years who makes sure the hot tub is sanitary and clean. The following morning after guest departed she reported nothing visible in the hot tub but drained/cleaned as routine. After 13 years of handling this property I value each and every guest. I have nor would I ever show any disrespect to ANYONE. Especially guest in my home! I had 3 calls and 3 texts from these guest which were answered promptly. There was a repeated request for compensation which was included in 2 emails. Due to all of this I have decided it is in my best interest to raise the age limit to 25 years of age for reservations in the future. (Exception to my many previous guest for their returning anniversaries)

Great price and great place

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is perfect for a romantic getaway. It has everything you'll need, Hot tub, Jacuzzi tub and real fireplace. Up in the mountains with a gorgeous view from the hot tub, but close enough to civilization that a supply run to town is only minutes instead of hours. The couch has plenty of room for two to easily snuggle and relax. The bed was extremely comfortable and the, um.... design is nice for extra activities. ;) The addition of the pool table is a perfect little bonus when you need a little break but don't want to nap. I've found my Gatlinburg hideaway for sure.

Affordable romantic getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband & I decided to stay here for our 10 year anniversary. Donna was great to work with & setting it up was easy. The location is perfect for a quiet get away. Far enough from town & noise for privacy, but also close enough to do things. The cabin is beautiful & the pictures don't do it justice! Loved the decor & the softer lights of the lamps & tree vs turning on the big over head ones. It truly felt like home. The creaks from the cabin shifting are something to get used to. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub & deck, it was very relaxing on a chilly night.
