Can't Get Any Closer To The River!

Overview

About the property

Seclusion on the Toe River. Swim, fish, outside the front door.

Fish, swim, river tube, hike, seclusion on a gorgeous stretch of the Toe River, right outside the front door, literally! It is obvious the moment you walk in the door how much the owners love this special place. It boasts comfort and charm throughout.

The highlight of this special cabin is its location on the Toe River. You simply can't get any better than this. You could actually toss a stone from the front porch and hit water. Over hanging the river is a large deck. A unique feature along the river. Adult guests can relax or fish right off the deck while kids swim in the deep swim hole immediately below, or river tube. There are two tubes available at the house for guest use, but there are also tubes available to rent for the duration of your stay for a nominal fee. The riverside deck provides a convenient spot to rest river toys when not in use rather than lugging back and forth to the house. There's even a outdoor hot shower!

At the end of a day filled playing in the water, hiking around the property and/or in the hills, sit around a roaring bon fire (also riverside) sharing the memories of the day while roasting marshmallows.

NOTE: While not necessary, AWD or 4WD vehicles are a good idea. The road to the cabin is gravel and has a slight upward grade. It will take just a bit of practice in a 2WD vehicle getting up the road without (perhaps) spinning wheels. If 2WD is what you'll be driving, it will be best to remember keeping your speed steady and rolling. Either way, it should only take once before you get the hang of it.

Riverdance is conveniently located between the quaint mountain down town areas of Burnsville and Spruce Pine. Both offer dining, shopping and convenience to many adventurous mountain activities you're coming to the mountains to enjoy. The entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway is approximately 15 minutes from Riverdance and boasts THE most amazing long range views east of the Mississippi River. In fact, Burnsville is home to Mt. Mitchell, which has the highest elevation this side of the Rocky Mountains 6000 ft above sea level. Climb the lookout platform and you have 360 degrees views that stretch for miles. Hiking, commercial river rafting, horseback riding, zip lining, Crabtree Falls, Linville Falls and caverns, Grandfather Mountain, the Altapass Apple Orchard are all no more than 10 minutes to an hours drive. Asheville, home of the infamous Biltmore Estate is approximately an hour away. Contact me to send you web links to any of the above or other activities of interest perhaps not mentioned above.

NOTE: The driveway of this home requires AWD or 4WD. 2WD vehicles would have no problem getting to the house, but would most certainly have issues getting back up the driveway.

What makes this cabin unique

Riverdance is located in the mountains with one of the most amazing locations on the Toe River. This home is centrally located to many activities and sightseeing destinations. Guests can swim, river tube, fish and hike right on the property as well as visit other nearby locations for the same. Zip lining, horseback riding, live theater as well as a movie theater are all a hop, skip and jump away from Riverdance. Groceries, shopping (including for local crafts), restaurants and medical facilites are between 10 to 15 minutes away.

The city of Asheville is an easy, all highway drive. In an hour or less, guests staying at Riverdance can do a day trip to Asheville to visit the Biltmore Estate, stroll Asheville's historic and quite artistic downtown, dine in one of many "farm to table" restaurants and/or tour one or many of Asheville's growing number of craft breweries. In fact, Asheville is now home to Sierra Nevada.

A great get away if you love nature

We spent a week here. Peaceful

The cabin is so put together. Anyone is lucky to be able to stay. Want total relaxation. Fishing, swimming, rushing river water. It's a treasure

I do not want to share this place.

  • 5 of 5

I am actually already regretting giving this place a 5 star rating because I don't want anyone else to find this little slice of heaven. It was legitimately the best weekend of our lives and we completely relaxed the second we arrived. It was everything that was promised and more. Can't wait to book again soon and eventually own a little piece of property myself to mimic this exact place!

Hidden gem by the river!

  • 5 of 5

Riverdance cabin was a great weekend get away! The property manager was super responsive and helpful from the very beginning. We took our dog and kayak and spent a lot of time on the river and hiking. This is a great place to unwind and relax.

charming and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This is just what my husband and I needed for a getaway: a lovely, cool spot on a river with enough hiking trails so that we wouldn't be total sloths. The house is charmingly decorated with enough comfortable seating inside and out and the sound of the river flowing over the rocks was hypnotic. The surrounding property is beautiful and we enjoyed seeing the late summer wildflowers. The only caveat is that there is no dishwasher - not generally a problem for two people- but some might not expect that inconvenience. The management was very responsive to questions and the owners, whom we met accidentally on the way in , were delightful. Highly recommended

Peaceful and beautiful scenery . Enjoyed !!

  • 5 of 5

I enjoyed my family vacation at the cabin. It was very private so I was able to turn the dogs loose and let them explore. It was very peaceful and I loved sitting outside on the porch reading my book at night. I thought the cabin was very clean and cutely decorated. The kitchen was well stocked and We had everything we needed . The trash can outside could have been a little bigger . Wouldn't have been a problem but we stayed for 7 days. The hot shower outdoors was a plus. It was great to rinse the dogs off and get them clean before allowing them in the house . Must learn to fly fish for next time . Although we didn't do to bad . Thank you for letting us stay in your cabin . We would love to stay again

RIverdance

The cabin is very well appointed with lovely lighting and a gorgeous view of the river. We had a major disappointment in the advertisement of VRBO /HomeAway regarding Internet. Although the cabin was advertised with Internet service, it was not true. We are a couple in our 70's, and we do not want to be without the conveniences of Internet, cell phones and/or landline phones. None of this was available in the cabin. So, if one wishes to escape to a completely remote area, unless you wish to climb a steep hill to the owner's home to use your cell phone (which may or may not work in that location), this is the venue for you. We experienced the exact same problem with VRBO last year when we rented a property advertised with Internet in Virginia which was actually without Internet. We will not trust VRBO again.
