NOTE: AWD or 4WD vehicles are required to rent this cabin.
Fish, swim, river tube, hike, seclusion on a gorgeous stretch of the Toe River, right outside the front door, literally! It is obvious the moment you walk in the door how much the owners love this special place. It boasts comfort and charm throughout.
The highlight of this special cabin is its location on the Toe River. You simply can't get any better than this. You could actually toss a stone from the front porch and hit water. Over hanging the river is a large deck. A unique feature along the river. Adult guests can relax or fish right off the deck while kids swim in the deep swim hole immediately below, or river tube. There are two tubes available at the house for guest use, but there are also tubes available to rent for the duration of your stay for a nominal fee. The riverside deck provides a convenient spot to rest river toys when not in use rather than lugging back and forth to the house. There's even a outdoor hot shower!
At the end of a day filled playing in the water, hiking around the property and/or in the hills, sit around a roaring bon fire (also riverside) sharing the memories of the day while roasting marshmallows.
Again, PLEASE NOTE: AWD or 4WD vehicles are required to rent this cabin. The road to the cabin is gravel and has a slight upward grade. While the grade of the road is not super steep, it is just steep enough that 2WD vehicles tear up the gravel road causing timely and expensive repairs. AWD and 4WD vehicles have no problem whatsoever.
Riverdance is conveniently located between the quaint mountain down town areas of Burnsville and Spruce Pine. Both offer dining, shopping and convenience to many adventurous mountain activities you're coming to the mountains to enjoy. The entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway is approximately 15 minutes from Riverdance and boasts THE most amazing long range views east of the Mississippi River. In fact, Burnsville is home to Mt. Mitchell, which has the highest elevation this side of the Rocky Mountains 6000 ft above sea level. Climb the lookout platform and you have 360 degrees views that stretch for miles. Hiking, commercial river rafting, horseback riding, zip lining, Crabtree Falls, Linville Falls and caverns, Grandfather Mountain, the Altapass Apple Orchard are all no more than 10 minutes to an hours drive. Asheville, home of the infamous Biltmore Estate is approximately an hour away. Contact me to send you web links to any of the above or other activities of interest perhaps not mentioned above.
NOTE: The driveway of this home requires AWD or 4WD. 2WD vehicles would have no problem getting to the house, but would most certainly have issues getting back up the driveway.
