Overview

About the property

1872 sq. ft. 3 BR.2 BA (Sleeps 9)

Come visit this cozy cabin nestled in the trees in the exclusive Blue Lake Springs Association. We back to the forest, so we have no rear neighbors, which creates a very private feel. Once back on Hwy 4, we are located just 5 minutes from Big Trees State Park and close to Bear Valley Ski Resort, Lake Alpine, and wine tasting in the most adorable town of Murphys.

Blue Lake Springs clubhouse (Snowflake Lodge) offers weekend dining, a pool, two lakes with floating docks, a playground, and tennis courts. The Family Fun Zone has a basketball court, ping pong tables, foosball, bocce, shuffleboard, and horseshoes. There are also Saturday night movie nights at the amphitheater, story time for the kids, a snack bar, and so much more.

This home is very thoughtfully cared for. Our housekeeper uses only the best cleaning products in an effort make your stay as comfortable and lovely as possible. Cozy linens and towels are provided. Extra blankets available. Please provide your own beach towels.

On level one you'll find a mudroom, full laundry room, full bathroom, bedroom and a sauna. Bedroom 1 has a very comfortable queen bed and ample closet space.

On the second level you'll find the main living area, which includes the kitchen with all the utensils you'll need. Mostly everything, from pots and pans, plates, glasses, and silverware are brand new. A large dining table overlooks a large deck with a beautiful view of the trees. The wood-burning stove offers a cozy nook which calls you to gather around, chat, and play cards. We also have a small collection of books if all you want to do is snuggle up and get lost in adventure. A second set of sliders leads out onto the main deck where you can BBQ and lean back and enjoy the magnificent mountain-style, starry night.

Off of the main area there are two more bedrooms.

Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and a beautiful view of nature, as well. Wake up to the sights and sounds of wild birds, grey squirrels, and even the occasional deer or five.

And Bedroom 3, what we call "the kids' room," has a bunk bed, a single bed, and a queen futon. This room is very spacious with plenty of room to play. Sliders lead to a deck off of this room, offering a beautiful and peaceful entry into the backyard.

It's absolutely, positively peaceful here. Every time I leave I cannot wait to return and relax. We love to share, and we'd love for you to enjoy this space as much as we do.

About Joslyn Kipperman

My husband, Mike, and I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he is an electrician and I am a stay-at-home-mom/girl who dabbles in design/court reporter. He loves to ride his road and mountain bikes, especially in Arnold. I've been known to grab my skateboard every now and then and join my kiddo in the court. Snowboarding is a hobby we share but haven't been able to do in years. We can't wait to get back up there. Bear Valley is so close to the cabin, so we definitely plan to pick it up again next season.

We have owned and managed rentals close to home now since 2003 and have a great rapport with our current and past tenants. We love sharing our homes with them. Everyone has said our places are so peaceful and healing. This property, in particular, is so quiet and beautiful, and we would very much enjoy sharing it with you.

Check out my blog for additional pics, info, and updates on ~ The Nest~

Why Joslyn Kipperman chose Arnold

We bought this property to sneak away from the busyness of life. We find ourselves coming up here often and absolutely cherish every minute of it. Everything, from the hiking, early morning walks, HOA amenities, snow sports, sitting out under the stars, wine tasting, is incredible and so relaxing! Also, there are only a few homes on vrbo that don't have rear neighbors and this is one of them! You won't be disappointed by this location. It's so worth it! Choose ~ The Nest ~ and you'll wake up to the sole sound of the wild birds. It is so quiet and peaceful here. I often find myself saying, "I seriously can't hear anything." It's almost surreal, but the quiet is so very beautiful.

What makes this cabin unique

I love this Blue Lake Springs location because you have to have a guest pass to even get into the clubhouse, pool, and lake, etc. Our kids have such a blast here. We are looking forward to coming back year-after-year so that they will hopefully start to see familiar faces in the crowd. We hope you make those memories here, as well. And if and when you return again and again, you may find a few minor updates and changes. I love to design so I am always working on my home to make it as cozy and as welcoming as possible, and this cabin is no exception. As cute and cozy as it was when we purchased it, I have updated a few things and will continue to do so as the months march on. That being said, upon your return, you may find a new detail here and there not previously in place.

We don't focus solely on the decorating, though. We think about the kiddos too. My husband made slingshot targets from wood slices and copper wire and hung them from the trees out back (facing the forest, of course). We don't provide the slingshots, but as long as you're careful, you're more than welcome to bring your own now that you know you have a safe target.

There are lots of little details here and there, quiet reminders to slow down and relax, go for a walk, cherish the moments.

Great mountain retreat for a family!

  • 5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed our time at the Nest! The house was very comfortable, had plenty of room for us, and was very well maintained. It was a warm and welcoming place to stay. The owners have done a wonderful job making the house a home-away-from-home for guests, and they made everything easy and pleasant. We highly recommend the Nest.

Very Clean, Relaxing & Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We picked this property because it looked so clean. We have a 2 year old daughter and I wanted a place where I felt comfortable letting her play on the floor. This place was fantastic. Very clean and nicely decorated. We do VRBO a couple times a year and this cabin was the most furnished I have ever stayed in. They provided ample paper products and towels. The owner was very responsive and available during our entire stay if we had any questions. The location was ideal and the owner provided a fantastic welcome packet with suggestions for dinning. We ate dinner at the adorable Serifinia's just 5 minutes away. We loved hiking in Big Trees park which is also super close. 2 nights we made the short drive into Murphys (an adorable antique store town with a great ice cream shop). Our son loved sleeping in the bunk bed and we did bubbles on the deck every night. We stayed 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We also drove the 2 1/2 hours to Yosemite one day. This cabin is a clean, safe, relaxing place to stay.

Very relaxing, serene & pleasant vacation rental.

  • 4 of 5

My family of 4 spent a pleasant week at the Nest. It is attractive, serene and thoughtfully appointed, and the owner is extremely kind, personable, patient & accommodating. There is much to do within driving range (a week was the perfect length of time for us), the owner's recommendations were helpful, the nearby pool a welcome respite from the August heat. Having breakfast on the large, tree-surrounded deck was a great way to start our days. My parents enjoyed having their own separate downstairs space. The only changes I would recommend are more & quieter electric fans, and more/better light for reading. Also, for longer visits it would be nice to have garbage pickup. All-in-all, a nice place to stay.

Owner's Response: We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your experience at The Nest. That makes us smile. We're also pleased to hear that you explored the recommendations in our welcome folder. We are definitely going to put a few newer fans on our shopping list, and I've already gotten some awesome book lights for nighttime reading. Thank you for the helpful recommendations. Joslyn & Mike
