If you are planning to spend time in the amazing Rocky Mountains, our home is the best of all worlds. The gorgeous views, comfortable amenities and quiet location near town provide everything you need to relax after a long day hiking, cross-country skiing, fishing, climbing, sightseeing or wildlife-viewing. We are just a 20 minute walk to Mary’s Lake Lodge for great entertainment and dining. The property is surrounded by beautiful snow-capped peaks and plenty of blue skies and bright stars. You can sit outside on the expansive deck and enjoy watching wildlife passing by or shooting stars in the cool summer evenings.
Our home is complete with lovely furnishings, comfortable pillow-topped king beds in two of the bedrooms and set of twins in the third bedroom. From the bedroom windows you can often see deer and elk coming down from the Roosevelt forest as you wake in the morning. Since our dining room and den is completely surrounded by picture windows, dinners are complemented with sunset views of Lumpy Ridge, the snow-capped Mummy Range and the beautiful Estes Valley, as well as frequent visits from hummingbirds, blue birds, elk, deer, rabbits and occasional bear, coyote or mountain lion (very rare).
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare even the most complex meal. You will also find a propane grill just out the back door for a warm summer barbeque along with a huge deck; perfect for an outdoor picnic.
We love the beautiful Rocky Mountains anytime of year. Bob loves to fly fish. We both love hiking, cross-country skiing and just enjoying sitting by an alpine lake reading a book. When the opportunity came for us to purchase our own piece of paradise, we couldn't resist. We loved every moment we spent renovating this lovely cabin that was originally located in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Karen Hare purchased this cabin in 2006
When we found this cabin, we knew it would be the perfect home for us. It needed a bit of work, but the mountain views from the picture windows and deck sold us on the home. The quiet location in a private treed neighborhood sealed the deal. Being close to the activities of Estes Park without any of the hustle and bustle was exactly what we were looking for. Wildlife roam through the property regularly and often decide to stay for a while. The cabin itself is spacious and with the hardwood floors and beautiful warm decor, we can't imagine we could have found a more perfect home for us to enjoy and share with our guests.
We love waking to deer, elk, wild turkeys, and/or hummingbirds outside our bedroom window, then sitting out on the deck for breakfast breathing in the fresh mountain air. Typically, we head out for a hike to an alpine lake early so we can get back to enjoy a relaxed BBQ on the deck. Later we might spend the evening watching for shooting stars while we build a small campfire in the fire pit and maybe roast a few marshmallows. It is our place to relax and get away to the quite solitude that nature has to offer, yet still have all the comforts of home.
Our stay at this cabin during late August 2016 was fantastic. The pictures really don't do justice to how well appointed the cabin is, and the view from the front room and the deck is a amazing. The attention to small welcoming details made us feel at home immediately. The young adults in our party were raving about the comfort and also the variety of very nice art pieces in the cabin. The location is ideal to explore Rocky Mountain National Park as well as other trails in the area. Coffee on the deck in the morning and watching the wild turkeys and deer, then hiking, and a nice comforting cabin to relax in at night. One of the nicest cabins we've stayed in over the years.
This house is fantastic! I searched all over the internet for a place that was as secluded as possible to get away from the busy-ness of the real world, and Karen's place was the PERFECT home. I literally spent weeks researching various places to stay before we settled on this house.
There are a few other houses scattered around, but I think we saw 2 people the entire 4 days we were there. The house is on a private road, so you really feel like you are away from the city life. It's a quick 10 minute drive (if that) to downtown Estes, so you can still access the grocery store and restaurants.
The sun room in incredible! When we weren't out snow-shoeing, we sat in the sun room, enjoying the amazing view of the Rockies. We came back from Karen's place refreshed and full of life! If/when we go back to Estes Park, we will stay here!
Great place to stay! Plenty of space and stocked with books, games, movies, kitchen items... Anything you could think of, this place has it! Kid friendly but also comfortable. Extremely clean and well cared for. Very convenient to Estes Park and RMNP. We would stay here again!
Wow what a great time we had in this cabin. Everything about it was wonderful- the view, the soft sheets, the fully supplied kitchen.
Our sons, ages 22 and 24 said it was the best vacation they have ever had and we have had some great vacations!
I cannot say enough about how very accommodating Karen was- very quick to respond and very easy to work with.
Estes Park is amazing- we loved Poppies for dinner. RMNP is fabulous- a challenge and a
I highly recommend this property. It exceeded expectations!
Great location close enough to everything yet on the outskirts of town to feel like we were secluded on the mountain. Enjoyed days of Rocky Mountain National Park, shopping in Estes Park, horseback riding, etc. all within minutes of the home. Great views right from the cabin with the front room and deck being the highlight of the home in our opinion to enjoy the views and coffee rain or shine. Deer and turkey everyday near the cabin which our 8 year old son loved. Cabin was supplied with everything needed as some one else noted as well. Thank you for letting us stay at your home.
Though we have been to Estes Park many times previously, this was our first visit to this particular cabin. We found it to be an excellent home base for our week of hiking! Great location, fantastic views, nicely furnished and decorated (including artwork by the owner!) and very well equipped. We utilized handy amenities such as the gas grill and the crockpot on nights when we weren't out enjoying our favorite local eateries. I've learned to bring along a box of "survival" items, as our previous cabin location lacked certain basics, but these things remained packed away this year as I had no need of them. There were 5 adults in the cabin, and we found it to be ample and comfortable. We all agreed that the sunporch and deck were our favorite features - the scenery and wildlife were a treat at any time of day! We were very pleased with all aspects of the property and hope to return at a future time!
Some of the best hiking and rock climbing in the country. Our home is just a five minute walk to Mary's Lake for fishing or relaxing, just a short five minute drive (3 miles) to Rocky Mountain National Park. Festivals often include Longs Peek Scottish Highland Festival, Wool Market, Scandinavian Midsummer Festival, Yoga Conference, Rooftop Rodeo and Elk Fest.
