A great stay for a bigger family.
We had a great stay with our family or two adults, four kids plus the grandparents. The eight of us had plenty of room and enjoyed the open layout. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to cook for everybody. The yard was great for lawn games and a campfire with s’mores. The pontoon was an added bonus on our stay and we really enjoyed fishing with the kids. We would come back again!
My wife and I spent four very nice days here with some of our family. The cabin is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped with more kitchen tools and appliances than we could ever hope to use. We enjoyed eating on the deck and used the gas grill for a number of our meals. The grill was more than large enough for the five of us.
While we did not use the pontoon boat, we did rent a couple of kayaks from Grinders. The level back yard made it easy for us to get the kayaks in and out of the water. The lake was never busy with other boat traffic, so we had a peaceful time on the water.
The cabin is also an easy ten minute drive to the grocery store and other Rice Lake attractions.
Again, we had an enjoyable time here and hope to rent the cabin again in the future.
Nice spacious home
The home was very spacious and open to accommodate our larger group. The house was clean and well furnished.
Spacious Updated Cabin
The cabin is large and spacious, nice open floor plan with a lot of living space. The main floor has two bedrooms, queens size beds, nice carpeting. Upstairs bathroom is spacious with jetted tub and shower. Plenty of dining spaces, one table by the kitchen, one by the porch, bar stools to sit along the kitchen counter. Kitchen had all necessities. Wi-fi available as well. Downstairs had two good size bedrooms. There was also another room with a couch, chairs, another bed and bar. The kids found an old nintendo which was a hit. Downstairs bathroom had shower and tub plus laundry. House was clean.
Backyard was great, plenty of room for the kids to run around, nice fire pit. Plenty of nature to see (otters, loons, birds, etc.). Deck was nice, porch was nice with the exception of the broken windows (but Shannon advised working to get fixed-understandable).
Nice to have access to shed with fishing gear, floaties, chairs, outdoor games.
We rented the pontoon, it did not start for us but Shannon responded and had someone from the marina out same day to take care (the battery needed to be replaced).
A few notes, there is no beach, only swimming off the dock. There was a lot of algae right by the shoreline so the kids needed to swim by the end of the dock which was a little deeper water for younger school age kids. The walkway to access the cabin is slightly downhill and narrow.
Overall good stay for 4 adults and the kids. We had a great time with memories made!
Great view, but no A/C and needs a good cleaning
The house had plenty of room and a great view of the lake for us seven ladies. Unfortunately, there was only window A/C units in the upstairs bedrooms, and it happened to be a very hot and humid weekend. The basement was cooler, but very musty and damp, even into the sheets. The rugs in the downstairs bathroom/ laundry were even wet, due to the moisture. There was a dehumidifier in the basement that we continued to empty 2-3 times per day. Very inconvenient!
I know I probably tend to be more anal than most when it comes to cleanliness, but I just felt that the house needed a good overall cleaning. There were lots of spider webs, bugs and spiders in the windows and covering the screens. Spider webs covered the basement base heat registers. Although, the bathrooms and kitchen were clean for the most part, with the exception of inside the kitchen cupboards.
We chose not to rent the boat, because that was going to be another $600 for the weekend, but we had our "Flotilla" that we would hang out on. But, the lake was so green and full of big snail shells and undesirable to swim in. We did kayak, and saw a lot of fishing boats, so maybe the boat rental would have been a good choice.
At the end of the day, it was hard to cool off and cook because of the hot house. The coffee pot handle broke one morning, as we went to pour the first cup of coffee. The glass didn't break, but coffee was everywhere.
We have a property that we rented out for many years, so I know the process and the extent to accommodate renters. It is not always easy to keep up on maintenance, but it is very important, since it is another source of income.
The owner was very attentive to answering text messages when we had questions or concerns. I just wish that the attention to detail would have been more recognized before our stay. I am sorry, but we would not stay here again.
Thank you for your feedback! We apologize for the hot weekend, it has been very hot this year! Also for the coffee pot, we did have a Keriug machine as well. With the property being so close to the lake, there can be spider webs and bugs. We have notified our cleaning service to pay more attention to those things. Unfortunately the lake being green is out of our control. It normally isn’t green, it is very clean water. Bummer you won’t be staying with us again! We want people to enjoy our property as much as we do!!
The house was very comfortable. Large kitchen and living room sitting area. Beds had very soft nice linens. Bathrooms well equipped with towels and toilet paper. Deck overlooking lake, yard, fire pit and dock was wonderful! There were many games, decks of cards, and cribbage to play. The shed had chairs for adults and children, rafts, noodles and lots of fishing gear. Boat started right up and ran great! Plenty of wood for the fire pit! A very pleasurable place! Bring your own water for drinking and coffee.
The property is located 3 miles from downtown Rice Lake. There are several restaurants, shops and bars. There is also a cinema and theater nearby as well. We are walking distance or a boat ride distance to the local watering hole that is just a half mile away. The property is also a mile away from the Wild River ATV trails, with other 104 miles of beautiful scenery and amazing trails! Check out the Rice Lake, WI webpage for more details. Please let us know if you have any questions!!! We can't wait for you to enjoy the property as much as we do!!!
