If you haven't been to Boulder, Colorado you're in for a treat. Voted best small city in America for decades, it has everything you want from a big city, with world-class restaurants, a major university and an abundance of cultural events, but feels like a town.
Our rustic and private spacious home is 6 miles up Beautiful Sunshine Canyon, just minutes from Pearl Street Mall in Downtown Boulder. We have incredible views while in the forest. Boulder has fantastic weather all year round to play golf, hike the foothills, stroll the streets, see a sporting event or just relax without the disturbances of a hotel.
Our 3500 sq ft home is a great family home, perfect for 2 families, fun for kids (pool table) or a great romantic getaway. It's fully equipped with everything you may need or want, with great views from every window and often have deer strolling or napping in our yard. There's a garage for your convenience and a large deck with outdoor hot tub.
We love our home and think you will as well. It can be your home away from home while visiting beautiful Boulder, Colorado. Enjoy!
A small cabin was built here in 1972 but we did a major addition in 2004 to fit our family needs. It's a great family house and we love the Boulder vibe.
David McLaughlin purchased this house in 2004
We love being in the mountains surrounded by pine trees yet we're close to downtown Boulder so it's convenient to get into town. It stays cooler in the summer and we get more snow in the winter but the roads are maintained making it easy to reach.
We have the largest vacation rental in the Boulder area, perfect for families and groups. It sleeps 15 in main house.
What a great stay! The house and deck facilitated a great atmosphere for social interaction. I would recommend this property and looking forward to coming back. Also, Golden Hill Inn is a must for dinner when you are staying here.
We rented this place over Thanksgiving and had our family plus our in laws stay and we fit nicely (15 plus a baby). The bedrooms are spread out so we could put the early risers (and baby) in one wing and the late sleepers in another and not bother anyone! We made our entire thanksgiving feast (and pies from scratch) in the well equipped kitchen without any trouble- we had to purchase a mixer to use but everything else was already there for us. We loved the private, low traffic road as we walked the neighborhood/valley every day. It was great for the baby who toddled along beside us all- very safe, friendly area. We drove up the valley (2 minutes) and hiked the mountain, drove down the valley (4 minutes) and hiked Bald Mountain, explored Boulder and Estes Park and loved watching the wildlife all over the property. The boys loved scoping Mule Deer from the living room window, coffee cup in hand. We all (the baby especially) loved seeing the neighborhood Fox leaving his den every morning. The hot tub was nice too- decent condition but not very big (the 2 year old could stand up in it), maybe 3/4 adults could fit although we never tried. All in all we had a great time. The house itself is showing some wear (refrigerator leaks, microwave handle is broken, pool table is a little rough, overall needs a little spruce up) but it was such a great place to be it was easy for us to overlook those few silly things. It's got fabulous views, is centrally located and is a fun place to explore. We had a blast.
We held our week long 3rd annual family reunion at the wonderful Sunshine House. Our clan totaled 13. The house is spacious, allowing room for guests to spread out or to gather in central rooms. The kitchen is well furnished and open, spilling out onto a large rear deck which was ideal for summer evening meals. The Weber grill was ideal for a cookout. Musical instruments (bass guitar, guitar and hand drums) were a wonderful added feature for this musically inclined family. The house is located roughly 20 minutes outside of Boulder up a scenic canyon road. This allowed for plenty of outdoor space and convenient access to downtown Boulder. Our favorite activities: lots of hiking, Pearl Street Mall, tubing down the Boulder Creek, visiting the Boulder reservoir on a hot summer day, savoring flavors at the Tearoom, buying fresh produce at the Farmer's Market, sampling fine microbrews at Avery Brewing and just in general falling in love with Boulder. The house was absolutely great with a couple of minor items needing attention: pool table, refrigerator door, occasionally spotty Wi-Fi and a slightly musty laundry room/bedroom.
WOW!!!!!What an incredible home and location!!!! It was way better then we expected.Really an amazing ,comfortable, andFUN place!!! We hope to come every year. We over the large deck, beautiful views and the hot tub. Thanks so very much for letting us use your wonderful home!
We stayed at this place for a week. It was great. There were 11 of us and we had ample room to roam and congregrate. Hot tubs at sunset were awesome. The views were amazing. My kids had a blast adventuring around the mountainside. We really enjoyed the fact it was in the mountains yet so close to Boulder and the super cool town of Gold Hill. Gold Hill Inn is a must for dinner!
The house was as advertised and we had no problem finding it. Totally do it again.
We stayed for a week in July 2012 in this house. We were eight adults and two kids. The main floor with kitchen and living area was fine, master bedroom and bath was o.k. However, the rest of the bedrooms were inferiour. All the mattresses were lumpy and uncomfortable, and should be replaced. The basement room with two beds and next to the washer/dryer was windowless and musty. We were not able to reach the agent or owner by phone; mailbox was full! No clear directions were given on how to reach the house without mapquest!
