About Ashley Seager
I purchased this property with a friend to enjoy as a holiday home and to rent out. We just fell in love with the location as it's right at the foot of Carcassonne Castle, and the view of the house by day and night (when it is floodlit) are spectacular.
Ashley Seager purchased this House in 2011
Why Ashley Seager chose Carcassonne
We love the fact the house is on a peaceful road but very near a really lively area with lots of superb restaurants and bars. The nearby countryside is, in my opinion, some of the very best in France and extremely varied. And the sun shines so bright and all day long in this region, at least it seems that way!
What makes this House unique
Very comfortable, luxurious house. Swimming in nearby lake (car journey) is exquisite, and the Mediterranean coast is only 50 minutes drive away. In Winter, excellent quality Skiing is available Approx one hour drive away.

Great place to stay and awesome location.
Really beautiful old property that is well located and stocked with everything. We really had a great time in this vacation rental.
Best spot to enjoy the beauty of Carcassonne
This is a special property. When a large medieval castle is the backdrop to your vacation, the tone is set. We were breath taken everyday. The house is large, comfortable. and has all the amenities you could want. We walked up to the castle for ice-cream at night and walked to the Place Carnot for dinner or to shop. There are hundreds of restaurants around. We were surprised that Carcassonne is so big. Communication with Ashley was smooth.
Gorgeous property, fantastic location
Our family (6 adults and 1 young child) absolutely loved staying in this house - it is ideally situated for an easy walk into either the old city or the new. The house itself is comfortable, spacious and well stocked. The only thing I would note is that there are lots of steps (both inside and outside) that meant that our 14 month old had to be very closely tailed the entire time as he bombed around exploring ;) The garden is tiered, and gravelled, so he couldn't easily play outside as much as we would have liked. The only other point to note is that only the two master bedrooms have air con, so the first floor rooms are very hot in the summer - our thermometer put them at 28 degrees at night. Fans are provided, but again it's just worth noting for small children. These are absolutely not criticisms of the house itself, just observations for others who may also be travelling with very active, independent young children.
Otherwise - the bedrooms are lovely, the social spaces are fantastic (with so many options we never felt on top of one another), and the garden and pool are ideal. The house is large, clean and, overall, very good value – we would recommend it to anyone!
Fantastic home with stunning view
Well equipped kitchen with multiple dining areas indoor and outdoor. Great pool and stunning view of the castle from the garden. Location is super.
Loved it !
As with the other reviews of this property, it really is a great place to stay. Very magical. Everything is well organised and it is very well serviced with all sorts of extras. You will not be disappointed.
Stunning! Highly recommended.
An amazing house in a stunning location - the views of the castle behind are indeed magical, particularly when floodlit at night. It is a quiet part of the city - although we also enjoyed the nightly music concerts (only end of July). The surrounding countryside is beautiful and so many sightseeing opportunities are easily accessible, including nearby steps to the castle itself. The range of resturants nearby are exceptional - from typical French cuisine and ambience to 2 Michelin * restaurant.
I have never stayed in such a well equipped house - every need has been anticipated and met. The furnishings and the kitchen are fitted to a high specification with a vast range of crockery, glasses and cooking utensils. The attention to detail is incredible. The house is spacious with so many options, and the courtyard and pool are a major part of the relaxing holiday. The experience is enhanced by having excellent wine readily available from just next door!
We stayed here as a family of 6 adults and a toddler and we all loved it! It truly felt like home from home with added luxury and hot sun! We would certainly love to return!
Unique location at the very foot of Carcassonne Castle, Europe's largest Castle and a celebrated Unesco World Heritage site, immortalised in Kate Mosse's Labyrinth. Set on a quiet, medieval street the house is adjacent to the house Kate Mosse has in Carcassonne. It is just a few minutes walk away from a huge array of cafes, bars and restaurants set within the Castle walls. The house has a big garden with sitting and dining areas and a swimming pool.
Just a 15 minute drive from the house are lovely lakes with first-class beaches for swimming and water sports activities. Carcassonne also offers a huge variety of day trips within a 30 minute drive, such as the wonderful villages of Mirepoix, Minerve and Lagrasse which are internationally acclaimed for their history and beauty.
