perfect weekend get-away
Our first visit to Chatham was made special by staying at this cozy cottage, nestled well-off the main street and overlooking our gracious hosts' - both artists with adjoining home and separate studio - ample garden/lawn. Very private setting, but at the same time, immediate access to all that Chatham has to offer - stores, restaurants, etc. The cottage is a duplex, with mirror accommodations including small kitchen/family room. Our son stayed in one, and my wife and I in the other. We enjoyed evening cocktails overlooking the garden, then strolled to dinner or drove to nearby restaurants along the ocean. A very relaxing weekend and excellent introduction to Chatham and nearby areas of the Cape. Our hosts could not have been more kind, and it was a special pleasure to learn about their artistic talents.
Best kept secret in Chatham !
This was our second stay and we were not disappointed yet again. Both units have a charming and homey vintage feel akin to mid-century interior designs and their huge backyard location makes for a beautiful garden setting. Though the duplex cottage is situated downtown, we absolutely never heard any traffic or pedestrian noise when relaxing on our lawn or at night. A total but wonderful mystery ! The combination of beauty, tranquility, comfort, low price and walk-to distance from shops on Main Street AND Lighthouse Beach truly makes this rental the best-kept secret in Chatham for couples. I would like to add that we love to cook and the kitchen, though small, was very well equipped. We hope to come again !
We stayed one week in the front cottage. Had a lovely time in beautiful Chatham. We were concerned that it would be too warm since there is only an AC in the bedroom, but there is an exhaust fan in the living area which helped cool the place The cottage is rustic but has everything you need if you want to cook some meals. There is a charcoal BBQ which we used once. Owners are very friendly and very respectful of your privacy. Beautiful yard and excellent location - walking distance to all the lovely shops and restaurants. You would never know you are right on Main St. since it is situated at the back of the owners’ home. Very quiet – we slept like babies. We will definitely return but will ask for the back cottage because we like the layout better.
Just what we needed!
Clean, comfortable, all the charm of old school Chatham in a Fabulous Location. We stayed here for a long weekend; my husband and I felt like we'd stumbled upon one of Chatham's well kept secrets. The accomodations offer everything you need, the setting and location (steps from Main Street, yet quiet and serene) make it more than ideal. The owners are present and helpful without being at all intrusive. We look forward to staying here again!
A great location in Chatham
We had a wonderful time at this little cottage. We liked the original art on the walls and the thick wood panelling. The cottage was situated in town within walking distance of cute shops and great restaurants. It was also within walking distance of Chatham Lighthouse and the beach front. Chatham was also convenient for exploring the Lower and Outer Cape. Our hosts were pleasant and unobtrusive (perfect). We recommend it.
Week of August 23, 2008
Our cottage was perfectly located for strolling in town, and walking to Lighthouse beach. The size was perfect for the 2 of us, and had all the amenities that we wanted. It was definitely clean ane well maintained with the owners on site. The weather and proximity to water provided wonderful breezes. Our owners were very friendly, welcoming and offered suggestions about nature trails to visit. I think that one of the best parts of this property is that it has a beautiful garden view offering peace and quiet to get a rejuvenating break before heading back out for more walking, biking, a stop for ice cream, or a trip to the beach. We would definitely stay here again.
Conveniently located in the center of historic Chatham Village, but a short walk to three Atlantic beaches and light house. Within a ten minute walk are tennis courts, 9 hole golf course, summer league baseball games, town landing, fish pier, parks, windmill, historic area, shops, galleries, summer theatre, library and many fine restaurants. Great walking neighborhood! A short drive to Pleasant Bay, Nantucket Sound, fresh water ponds, harbor and seal tours, Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge, and conservation walking trails. Chatham is centrally located to mid and lower Cape. Cape Museum of Fine Arts, Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, Cape Cod National Seashore, Nickerson State Park, Hyannis, Provincetown, ferries to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard all within 45 minutes.
