About Susan Caron
We are Ken and Sue Caron and we moved to Lake City in 2015 after retiring from our careers as a Physical Therapist and Computer Engineer. We fell in love with the small town of Lake City, all of the beautiful old homes in the area, and the friendliness of all the locals. Of course Lake Pepin is a bonus!! We love to kayak , golf, go antiquing and visit wineries, all of which is available in Lake City and the surrounding communities.
Susan Caron purchased this House in 2016
Why Susan Caron chose Lake City
We bought this property because we loved the location and the fact that it is a historic home. You can find our home listed in the booklet "Historic Homes of Lake City." It is known as the Jacob Rucker home and was built in 1870. Jacob was the local blacksmith and harness maker. The Lake City marina and downtown are only 3 blocks from our home and there are a number of golf courses, parks, hiking trails, wineries and shops in and around the area.

Great house and location
Exactly as advertised and reviewed. Close to the city, clean and surprisingly roomy on the inside. I usually don't notice wall and other art in a rental but this house has unique collections in each room. The kitchen is big enough for three cooks to work side by side and it is well stocked. We were a party of six with family in the area, and we will definitely stay here again.
Thank you for the nice review. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again in the future.
Lovely old home!
Really enjoyed our stay. We have nine ladies staying here and had plenty of room. The house was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this home!
WOW! Great house
We rented this house because of its proximity to my brothers condo but will come back for the darling house that it is. Very nicely furnished and well appointed. Beautiful quilts, lovely linens, fun artwork and a kitchen equiped with everything you could want. Would definitely recommend!
Susan’s house hit all the marks for us. Sleeps as many as 8 in beds with spacious living areas. Very, very clean and well stocked. Easy walk to lake and 2nd family house.
We have rented several LC homes over the years; everyone wants to come back to this one.
Excellent choice, accommodating host, friendly neighborhood, comfortable and spacious home
This spacious house is excellent for many events and groups of people. It’s comfortable, charming and well designed. It was perfect for the eve of my daughter’s wedding. We had a great time with her bridesmaids and personal attendants. The ladies enjoyed the living room, porch and patio to relax. The large kitchen was ideal for arranging flowers and our meals. We were comfortable with good beds and 2 baths.. Hair and makeup was done easily in the dining area. Main floor laundry is handy. Susan was very helpful and kind. The neighbors are friendly and helpful. We were treated so well at the Chickadee Cottage Cafe, and we were impressed by the pizza (traditional and gluten free crust) from Big Bear Pizzeria. The wedding was beautiful at Hidden Meadow and Rustic Barn venue in Pepin WI. Other places we visited during the trip are: Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum, and House in the Big Woods, Nelson Creamery in Nelson Wi; also National Eagle Center and Grumpy Old Men movie sites in Wabasha. I hope to return again. I highly recommend this host and her home. All the best to you, Fellow Travelers. Thank you, Susan,
The house was clean and immaculate, well stocked, nicely decorated, inviting and comfortable.
My sisters and our husbands went on a weekend getaway for WaterSki Days and thoroughly enjoyed the house and the community. Susan and Ken were very accommodating our requests and would highly recommend them and this home.
Thank you for the review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again.
Also visit Wabasha and Red Wing , each just 15 minutes north or south of Lake City. Drive the Great River Road on the Minnesota and Wisconsin sides of the Mississippi River and enjoy many quaint towns and wonderful antiquing, shopping, and wine tasting. The National Eagle Center is a must see in Wabasha.
