One acre, historic walled estate.

There are four large outdoor areas: orchard, salt water swimming pool with beach-like surround, large furnished courtyard and large flower garden. Many furnished areas for relaxing outside in both sun and shade. This home is featured as the sixth entry on the historic homes of Chula Vista webpage on Spanish revival.

3900 sq. ft. inside with grand living room, library with computer for your use, separate dining room and eat-in kitchen. Hardwood floors and woodwork.

This home was designed by famous architect Louis John Gill for Theodore Thurston. Louis John Gill also designed the San Diego Zoo and many notable buildings. You can read about Louis Gill on Wiki or the historical society of San Diego website.

Four en suite bedrooms (including 600 sq ft or 50m2 garden bedroom master suite with queen bed on ground floor), 2 master suites with king size beds upstairs , one smaller ensuite with twin extra long hospital bed and private entrance downstairs. One small bedroom with double bed and half bathroom immediately outside it in hallway upstairs. Four bedrooms with ceiling fans.

Long private driveway for ample off street parking.

Large salt water swimming pool with sand surround and tropical plantings. Imagine the beach in Hawaii.

An outdoor living room overlooks pool, as does the indoor living room.

Large paved outdoor courtyard with mermaid fountain and copious seating, plus arts and crafts area. Artists, crafters may use supplies within reason.

Orchard from which you may pick fruit as desired. Many different types of fruit: Oranges, mandarins, kumquats, grapefruit, apples, figs, pears, pomegranates, grapes, peaches, pomelos, apricots, avocados, plums and more.

At the entrance to the courtyard from the kitchen is the kitchen garden from which you may pick as ripe and desired: tomatoes, lettuces, kale, chives, peppers, and herbs peppermint, parsley, basil, rosemary, sage.

The large flower garden in front of the house has a gazebo and many other sitting areas in both sun and shade. You may cut flowers for bouquets in the house.

Lots of statuary is featured in various outdoor areas.

From the downstairs garden bedroom and living room you can see a bit of the Pacific Ocean.

Very light and cheerful, all rooms but library have windows in two or more directions. Most windows have views of flowers in all seasons.

The dining room overlooks mermaid courtyard and swimming pool and has a designer paint job to reflect this. The antique French dining table seats eight.

The large kitchen features a table which can also seat 8.

The western Chula Vista weather is very mild year round with sun almost every day. Review historic weather averages for zip code 91911.

Less than half an hour to Mexico, the airport, Sea World, Balboa Park (my favorite), Tijuana National River Estuarine Research Reserve.

We are a retired engineer and doctor who met in college at Caltech. Decades later we met again and married.

Why Henri Farhi chose Chula Vista

We chose the property for its exceptional Mediterranean architecture and grounds. We saw an immediate way to benefit the property by going "green". On moving in we removed all the grass as it is water intensive in California's drought climate. We replaced the grass with drought tolerant landscaping and the beachy area around the pool. We added mulch to the orchard and many of the planting areas. We use a cistern to water our orchard. We installed solar panels to generate electricity and at the time of writing do not use all the electricity we generate.

We love having the outdoor living available all year round. This is a truly exceptional climate and a unique property.
