Aloha! This charming condo is situated on a quiet cul-de-sac across the street from Sugar Beach in a small, 10-unit complex. The property is beautifully landscaped, and outdoor pool meticulously maintained. Guests are encouraged to use the 6-hole putting green, poolside barbecue grills, dining tables, and lounges. Free off-street parking is available directly behind the building. The central location makes it easy to explore all the incredible restaurants, shops, golf courses, and beaches Maui has to offer. While the outdoor features and location are sure to please, the interior is equally appealing.
Upon entering this 2nd floor vacation home, you will begin to notice the attention to detail and quality amenities selected with your comfort and enjoyment in mind. From the cottage style iron bed to the sleek granite countertops, you'll recognize instantly you made an excellent choice in affordable accommodations.
You will soon feel right at home in this sunny retreat with its understated tropical decor. The large 10' patio door in the living/dining area maximizes your view of the Pacific Ocean, pool, and courtyard area. The air conditioner with remote control features a quiet mode making it virtually soundless while keeping you cool even on the warmest days. A shared laundry building with washer, dryer, activity brochures, and books to borrow are just steps away. In addition, our on-call housekeepers and maintenance men are available to help make your stay as worry-free as possible. This 1 bedroom unit (not a studio), is comfortable for up to 2 guests. It is organized, clutter-free, and exceptionally clean and well-maintained.
The living/dining room has been furnished with a lift-top coffee table, full sleeper sofa, rocker recliner, and drop-leaf dining table, and guitar. The corner entertainment center holds a stereo/CD player, DVD player, a large selection of CDs, DVDs, puzzles, board games, and playing cards. After a fun-filled day out and about, you'll be able to come home and enjoy the wall-mounted 32" cable TV.
One of the best features of this condo is the lovely view. Take your coffee or favorite ice cold beverage outside and relax in one of the cushioned swivel chairs and soak up the sights and sun. A guest closet on the lanai provides storage for sports and beach equipment including cooler, tennis rackets, snorkel gear in all sizes, and sanitizer. Although smoking is strictly prohibited indoors, it is allowed on the lanai as long as it doesn't bother neighbors and the sliding door remains closed. If others complain, you will need to smoke at least 20' away from the building in the parking lot (it's the law).
Highlights of the fully furnished kitchen include granite countertops, built-in microwave, full-size refrigerator with ice maker, apartment-size dishwasher, and stove with easy-to-clean ceramic cooktop. To compliment the larger appliances, this room also includes a coffeemaker, coffee grinder, toaster, blender, slow cooker, popcorn popper, electric mixer, spices, cutlery, cooking and eating utensils, dishes, drinkware, cookware, bakeware, barbecue tools, linens, and cookbooks.
This restful space features a queen size bed with Sealy Posturepedic mattress and memory foam topper, quality bedding, queen size pillows, wicker nightstands, 2 alarm clocks (1 with dual USB ports and a multi charging cable for phones, cameras, and tablets), overhead reading lamps, wall-mounted 26" cable TV, CD player with iPhone/iPod docking station, and ceiling fan. Opposite the bed is a writing desk, phone for making unlimited free local and long distance calls to the U.S., Canada, and 30+ other countries, free high-speed internet, and wireless router. A bookcase stores a 2nd DVD player, Maui travel guides, children's reading and coloring books and crayons. Boogie boards are stored under the bed.
Adjacent to the bedroom is the pretty travertine tiled bathroom with granite countertop vanity and large medicine cabinet. Enjoy the spacious soaking tub/shower, soap, shampoo and conditioner, and over-sized bath linens. The shower caddy, hair dryer, curling irons, digital bathroom scale, and side table for toiletries/cosmetics are added bonuses.
No need to worry when it comes to storing clothing once you unpack. The walk-in closet has plenty of hangers and a 4-drawer chest. To help make your stay even more convenient, you will find binoculars, wall safe, iron/ironing board, garment steamer, mesh laundry hamper, vacuum, cleaning supplies, extra blanket, beach chairs, beach towels and tote bag, beach and rain umbrellas, and winter outerwear for sunrise/sunset trips to Mt. Haleakala. We have also provided an emergency tote with necessary supplies, collapsible water jugs, and directions to area shelters in the unlikely event you must evacuate the area for a tsunami, flash flood, earthquake, or hurricane.
Once you reserve your dates, we'll do everything we can to ensure you take home treasured memories to last a lifetime. We will provide you with our Tips and Recommendations List packed with our favorite activities, restaurants, and other places you won't want to miss. You will also be sent an Official County of Maui Ocean Safety Guide.

Our availability calendar is kept up-to-date, so check it out. I set minimum stay requirements of 3 nights in low season (Apr. 15 - Dec. 14), and 7 nights in high season (Dec. 15 - Apr. 14), but am more than willing to book shorter stays in-between reservations. Email and ask even if our calendar indicates your desired dates are not available.
Check-in is after 4PM (24-hour check-in). Once your reservation is confirmed, you will be given a lockbox code to access the entry door key. Check-out is before 11AM. Early arrival/late departure may be available.
This unit may not be suitable for younger children as it cannot be adequately baby-proofed due to lack of storage space. If a guest does decide to bring their child, they must remain vigilant at all times to avoid possible health and safety hazards and/or destruction of condo property.
MINIMUM AGE LIMIT FOR RENTERS
21 years old. Minors under the age of 21 are welcome when accompanied and closely monitored at all times by a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian for the entire length of stay. No parties are allowed inside the condo.
NONDISCRIMINATION POLICY AND PLEDGE
We welcome guests of all backgrounds with aloha and open minds. We will never decline anyone based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, or disability. Please note that our 2nd floor unit is unfortunately, wheelchair inaccessible. There are no elevators in the building.
IMPORTANT MAUI VACATION RENTAL INFORMATION
Mauidipity Happens Vacation Condominium (MHVC), is located in the 10-unit Wailana Sands complex in North Kihei. It operates legally and consistently with all current County of Maui zoning ordinances and state laws. Many Maui short-term vacation rentals and B&Bs, are not located in approved zoning districts and/or owners are not paying State of Hawaii Transient Accommodation Taxes and General Excise Taxes. Be aware that illegal properties risk closure and you could find yourself without accommodations, as state and county officials and inspectors work together to enforce new policies. Travelers can copy and paste the following link into any search engine to check whether a rental being considered is located in a legal zoning district: http://thehawaiistatecondoguide.com/maui.html. Approved zoning districts are designated as Hotel, Resort, H-1, H-2, or H-M, with very few exceptions. In order for illegal rentals to operate lawfully in other zones, owners must apply to, and be approved by the County of Maui for a Conditional or B&B permit, and possess Hawaii TAT and GET (tax), identification numbers. Owners must display their permit number, if required, and both tax ID numbers prominently in their unit(s) and on all advertisements such as VRBO and HomeAway. If unable to find those numbers within an advertised listing, you may want to verify the property's legality by asking the owner or manager for them before booking.

About Janet Young
I briefly taught 3rd grade, but chose to forgo my career to help keep track of 3 fun, active, test-my-patience children. They were born 1 year apart and together became partners in crime. While I chased after our little angels, my husband Allen, worked as a carpenter for General Motors so his family could take piano lessons, have straight teeth, and a decent roof over their heads. Soon after everyone had flown the nest, Allen retired and we traveled to Maui for the very first time to celebrate. It didn't take long to fall in love with the gorgeous Valley Isle. Several weeks into our vacation, we attended an open house on a whim and met a sweet, hard-working real estate agent. Stacey showed us a sun-filled condo with a great view in need of a little TLC. After careful consideration, we decided to take the plunge. We didn't have a clue at that time how we were going to manage our condo from Michigan, but it felt like the right thing to do. Fortunately, Stacey offered to become our temporary housekeeper, and her fiancé agreed to be our temporary maintenance man (we have since hired permanent help). I manage our websites and rentals from home. Everything worked out quite effortlessly . . . an unexpected gift I feel was meant to be. That's how the condo name, Mauidipity Happens (a blend of Maui and serendipity), came about. Even though Allen and I love to travel, there isn't anywhere else on earth we'd rather be. We enjoy sharing our vacation home with guests and hope they experience the same joy and contentment we feel each time we return to our little slice of paradise. Janet

Why Janet Young chose Kihei
Personally, I feel the town of Kihei (pronounced Key-hay), in which our condo is located, is truly the best place on the island to vacation. It's a top destination for visitors who want to spend time on Maui without breaking the bank. Our guests tell me they love the beautiful beaches (some of the best on Maui), lush tropical plants, flowers and trees, homey feeling, convenience, and affordability. It is also known for being the sunniest, driest area on the island. In other words, Kihei has it all. If shopping is high on your to-do list, there are no fewer than ten shopping centers of varying sizes in the area. Eating out is never a problem in Kihei either. While many visitors choose to cook their meals in the condo to save money, the town has a wide selection of restaurants from fast food and moderately priced eateries to a number of upscale dining establishments. Bird watchers and nature lovers will also find much to enjoy. Visit Kealia Pond Wildlife Refuge and Visitor Center, where endangered Hawaiian stilts and coots thrive in a salt-water marsh. A short distance in the opposite direction, the Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary is an ideal spot to learn about the area's marine environment and watch humpback whales from shore during the winter months. The nearby harbor at Ma'alaea is the launching site for pleasure boats taking visitors on charter fishing excursions, whale watching expeditions, and snorkel trips. There is an excellent public golf course in Kihei as well as world class resort golf courses nearby. Tourists find it easy to relax and enjoy the sunshine, surf, and sand which are hallmarks of the area. Due in part to its great central location, many savvy visitors repeatedly make Kihei their base to explore the beauty of Maui, and you should too.
What makes this Condo unique
We love our condo because it's located in a small, well-maintained complex (Wailana Sands), with a very nice pool, beautiful landscaping, birds galore, and enclosed lawn area which is rare on the island. We're also very lucky to have the friendliest, most helpful neighbors anyone could ever ask for. It's especially fun gathering by the pool with everyone during happy hour at around 5PM. Guests are always welcome to join the group--you don't need to wait for an invite. We share snacks, exchange Maui tips and recommendations, and have friendly, not-too-serious discussions concerning ethics/politics/religion/current events, or wherever the conversation takes us. We swap life stories, laugh a lot, drink a little (BYOB or non-alcoholic), and learn about guests who visit from around the globe. If, on the other hand, you'd rather be left alone to relax and do your own thing, you're given plenty of space and privacy to do that, as well. What's not to love?

Our Favorite Paradise - Maui

Janet and Allen had everything anyone would have at home in their own homes in this condo!
This was the 1st time in 8 years of being in south kihei that we experienced rain and cloudy days; there were only 3 days though in our 15th wonderful days in our Paradise!
The only thing my husband and I didn't like was that housekeeping didn't change or bring clean sheets and pillow cases and clean towels:( There is 1 coin washer and dryer in an outer building but didn't want to use for condo items ourselves as it seemed like housekeeping only tends to this:(
Great Place to stay in Maui
We spent 5 nights at this well equipped, beautifully decorated condo. The unit was very well maintained and clean. The owner had a lot of information of things to do while staying there, which was very helpful! The bed and the furniture were comfortable and clean. This condo had everything you needed plus more. Beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas, coolers, ice packs, snorkeling equipment in a variety of sizes, binoculars.... everything you need for a day on the beach. The kitchen was also very well equipped and clean.
We had coffee on the balcony every morning ,which overlooked the pool area. Very relaxing! The pool area was beautiful! There were plenty of lounge chairs by the pool. Also tables and chairs by the grilling area.
The beach was just a short walk across the road. It was a great beach for walking or just sitting on a chair watching the sun set.
We had a wonderful time here. The neighbors are also great! Would definitely stay here again if we came back. Janet, thanks for making our stay in Maui so relaxing!
Another Great Stay!
Just home from our 4th extended stay in this wonderful condo and already looking forward to the next. Janet and Allen do such a super job in updating and refreshing the place. It is so well thought out, equipped and cared for. The location works great for us and we love the long walks on the beach located just across the road. The pool/garden area is immaculately maintained and, due to there being only 10 units in the complex, is never busy. The grills are located in the garden area too and are great for rustling up your own grub and saving some $$ versus eating out all the time.
The upstairs unit is very private and the solid construction is very sound proof to any noise next door and from the unit below. You're on the end so only neighbors on one side. We have found the people who stay here are very friendly and it has been fun getting to know them and to share experiences and travel tips.
Janet provides all kinds of island tips from excursion to dining ideas and much more. The unit is well stocked with guidebooks also. The wifi connection is very strong and the entertainment systems are top notch. The beach and snorkel equipment are very handy as you needn't try to bring any of that with you! There were also tennis rackets and balls available if you're so inclined. A new arrival this year is an acoustic guitar.
The kitchen is very well stocked for this type of accommodation. The dishwasher and air conditioner are very handy too, but with the ceiling fan and additional fan we've never had to run it.
You can't go wrong with this place. Great location for accessing all that Maui has to offer.

Friendly neighbors and clean warm swimming pool. We had our breakfast everyday on the deck overlooking the pool and all kinds of birds to watch.

Allen and I love waking up with the birds at dawn and watch them from the balcony while having our morning cup of joe. If you're there long enough and pay close attention, you'll begin to notice their daily routines. We too appreciate having such nice neighbors at the complex and miss them when we're not there. Many of our repeat guests tell me they return the same time each year because they've developed close friendships with other regulars. The small size of the complex makes that pretty easy to do. Definitely served its' purpose!
All I needed for this trip is a place to sleep, shower, and to eat a light breakfast for a week. This condo certainly did the trick. It is clean, comfortable, fully stocked, and well maintained. The air conditioner certainly came in handy to cool off the unit in the evenings before going to bed. Janet was very informative and easy to work with. Her attention to detail is extraordinary. It's too bad I didn't have any time to lounge and have fun because those amenities are definitely available at this condo. Thank you Janet and Allen for sharing your home.

1. The maximum number of guests is limited to 2 adults or 1 adult with 1 teen/child/baby. 2. $5/night discount for stays of 7-29 nights. 3. $10/night discount for stays of 30 nights or longer. 4. Requests for an early check-in (as early as 6AM permitted), and/or a late check-out (as late as 9PM permitted), will be confirmed 48 hours prior, subject to availability, at 1/2 the nightly rental rate. This fee partially covers loss of rent from the night before an early check-in and/or the loss of rent the night of a late check-out. Standard check-in time: 4PM and standard check-out time: 11AM. 5.
