Lovely accommodation, perfect for two, excellent location
We stayed for a week in mid-October and were very impressed with the accommodation. Yes, it is up a very short steepish hill plus a dozen or so steps and both of us have some difficulty in our joints but we coped fine. So if you do have some mobility problems, it's more like a slow 5-6 minute walk to the beach, but really this is close to everything. There was some slight variation in the room from what was advertised, eg no microwave, but we wouldn't have used that anyway. There was a very useful island in the kitchen giving extra worktop and two stools. We loved having two balconies both with excellent views of the area. Each balcony had a table and two chairs, plus two sunbeds on the larger one. There was an enormous amount of cutlery, crockery, pots and pans for a two person place, but this suited us as we like cooking local food and eating in half the time, as well as trying the lovely and plentiful local bars and restaurants. Although the advertised check in is 4pm we arrived at 11:30am and were met by a lovely girl from the agency who manage the place on behalf of the owners, although we had emailed in advance to say we would be early. We didn't see much of the owners themselves but when we did they were friendly and the husband also checked on us when there was a problem with the electricity which only affected their house and not us! Overall we were really pleased with the accommodation, and would very happily stay here again.
Loved Soller!! Great location very close to beach and restaurants !
We stayed at the Property July 2018.
It’s in a great location very short walk down a steep Hill to the beach . Literally a minutes walk to the beach and nearest bar and restaurants.
It was clean but a little dated . Would definitely say it was a studio apartment rather than a cottage .
We were met by a young lady when we arrived then didn’t really see anybody throughout our stay . The owner lives next door .
Nobody came in at all to clean but this was not a problem for us . There were clean towels and bedlinen in the drawer and we were able to Use the washing machine .
We were Bit disappointed it was two single beds pushed together . The mattresses were comfortable but very light so it was quite easy to fall down in between the gap . Obviously it would be no problem if you are happy with two separate beds .
I will probably say it was a three star .
Air-conditioning worked well.
Bathroom was dated but didn’t bother us. Everything worked and the shower was adequate .
The facilities were good they had thought of everything .
If you are after a three star self catering studio apartment ,very close to beach and amenities then this is the perfect place for you .
The location of the apartment is superb, close to the beach and with wonderful views over the bay. The apartment is well equipped and the pleasant surprise was the large side balcony and the spaciousness of the apartment itself. The owners were very welcoming and the only downside was an, as it turned out unfounded, degree of anxiety in advance over the balance of rental being demanded in cash on arrival.
Great apartment, wonderful views, perfect location.
VITAL INFORMATION OMITTED FROM PROPERTY DESCRIPTION RUINED OUR HOLIDAY
The property itself is fabulous as are the lovey owners who live next door and the cat families that lodge there! However, "beach cottage" it is not. Yes it is close to the beach, (although I would say 1.5 to 2 minutes in fairness!). The information strangely omitted, though, is the fact that it is accessed by walking up a steep hillside, followed by climbing 18 steps. My husband suffered a stroke 8 years ago, resulting in loss of use of his left arm and leg. He has to wear an electric functional stimulation device which sends electric impulses to muscles in his left leg causing them to contract and lift his foot and turn it outwards . His balance has been severely affected too and he cannot walk or stand without a walking stick and support from myself.
We were therefore mortified when we discovered the actual location of the "beach cottage" - up a steep hill and 18 steps up hewn out of the rock with a balustrade on the right when ascending and nothing on the left. I cannot believe that this information is not included in the property description/location details. In fact I would go so far as to suggest the omission is negligent.
What made things even worse was when returning from a day out, I helped my husband out of our hire car and as I did so, he lost his balance on the steep incline and fell backwards onto the road. I could not help him up as he is too heavy for me and we had to call out "help!" until two kind local guys came to his aid and lifted him up and helped him up the 18 steps to the studio. Yes, it took two men to achieve this. My husband was upset, agitated and in pain and the fall resulted in bad cuts and bruising to his right arm and grazed legs, not to mention the shock he suffered.
This review is not intended to deter any fit persons from staying at this accommodation; it is really lovely. However, our situation demonstrates just how essential it is for property details to be honest and complete for the health and safety of disabled people who would know immediately that this "beach cottage" was totally unsuitable for them. I would hate to think that I failed to prevent other couples ending up in the same situation and having their holiday ruined by not being honest about the actual location of this property, however lovely it was. If it had been at beach level, we would have given it 5/5 without a doubt.
Thanks for your review Sandi. We are very happy to hear that you think the property is fabulous. I would like to explain that we never mentioned that this property is suitable for elderly, infirm or people with mobility problems. I'm really sorry your husband had problems to access the casita. We will include in the advert that there are 18 steps to reach the property from the street level.
Lovely cottage. Why quibble about a sunlounger?
Wonderfull cottage. Incredible position. The views were amazing. Open and cool and spacious. I have 1 quibble though. The cottage has a v.big sun terrace with 2 sunloungers. 1 was broken so I reported this but was told they would not replace it as they are no longer supplying sunloungers? Why when you have a sun terrace would you not supply sunloungers! As I say my only quibble all the rest was wonderful.
Sóller's port is the only natural bay on the North-West coast of Mallorca, an exceptional natural enclosure that is well worth a visit. The old fisherman's quarter of Santa Caterina conserves its marine character.
Port Sóller combines fishing with recreation, such as sailing or enjoying the beach. Along the front are many shops and restaurants. The two beaches, Ca’n Repic and Ca’n Generós, the boat trips to Sa Calobra or Cala Tuent, the fresh fish, a stroll up to the lighthouse, the sunset from the maritime museum, the Sóller tram, or simply the marvellous views that make the port an obligatory visit for the tourists; a real luxury within reach for all!
