About G Rohler
Gwenyfar is privileged to manage her family’s iconic independent bookstore, Old Books on Front St., in Wilmington, NC. She began shopping in the store in 1982, the year it opened (when she was 2 years old.) Since 2009 she has enjoyed writing the “Live Local” Column for Encore Magazine, the Cape Fear’s Alternative Newspaper. She is also one of the area’s theatre reviewers for the same publication, a job she dreamed of since she was a child. In 2012 Gwenyfar began recording Classic Literature Commentaries for WHQR Public Radio. “They were inspired by Rexroth’s Classics Revisited but have become something quite different,” she says. Like most people, she is working on a novel.
G Rohler purchased this Apartment in 2010
Why G Rohler chose Riverfront
In January 2010 the building Old Books had occupied for 26 year was condemned. The Wilmington community rallied to move the bookstore to safety (over 300 people turned out to pack and move books in the hour of need); in December of 2010 Old Books re-opened in the new location. It took six years to finish the second floor loft space. However, in October 2016 we opened to guests and unveiled the hand built life sized game board.
What makes this Apartment unique

We stayed four nights for a race in town.
Gwenyfar was kind and accommodating and made us feel so welcome. The property is centrally located and we enjoyed walking to the many shops and restaurants. We cooked all of our meals in the kitchen where we found everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the heavy drapes darkened the apartment nicely so we slept well at night. We did hear some street noise from time to time, especially on Saturday night but it wasn’t enough to keep us awake for long. The apartment is filled with all manner of books,
and is flooded with natural light during the day so it’s a great place to read and relax. We would stay here again for the warm welcome and great location. That says a lot, as we travel often and stay in a lot of vacation rentals!
