Adorable doesn't begin to describe this quiet cabin located within one mile of Main Street and all other conveniences of downtown. While the mudroom provides a spot to rest your hiking boots, the open floor plan and custom native stone masonry fireplace make this house perfect for both entertaining and enjoying a quiet stay in the mountains. The kitchen features stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, and a copper back-splash; the sprawling screened front porch offers outdoor dining, Adirondack chairs, and a mountain view. This two bedroom/two bath cabin located on the shoulder of Satulah Mountain is ideal for a short (or long) reviving trip to the mountains.

About Connell NeSmith
This precious cabin was our first home as a married couple. Career opportunities took us away from Highlands, but we weren't ready to part with this special spot. What we love best about this house includes the custom stone fireplace, the copper/granite/ stainless sleekness of the kitchen, the mudroom, the open floor plan, the sprawling front porch, the quiet street, the gorgeous wooded mountains right outside the door, and the wonderful town of Highlands itself. If you'd like to know more about us or the home, please message us through VRBO - we would LOVE for you to enjoy this special property.

Why Connell NeSmith chose Highlands
Highlands is known for being an ideal summer retreat and a perfect place to enjoy fall's breathtaking colors, but in this mountain cabin, we fell in love with every season. Summer and fall are, of course, spectacular, but in winter we loved the warmth of the fireplace and ice-skating in town. In spring, our yard is covered in daffodils and what we learned are "fiddle-heads" - watching them unravel into an acre of wild ferns was always my favorite sign of spring and summer to come. For a "small town," Highlands offers absolutely everything from gourmet dining/specialty groceries and incredible shopping, to community events and noteworthy art exhibits. More than anything, we enjoy the great outdoors that Highlands offers, especially hiking the many beautiful trails and fly fishing in the pristine rivers. We could go on and on - we only hope that you will come enjoy it all for yourself!

Comfy and Cozy
Great get away cabin. Perfect for a small family or couple. Perfect location to town. Comfortable and cozy!
Perfect cabin for a couple or small family. Clean, well-kept, charming, nice kitchen. Owner very responsive to reservation requests, questions, etc... Very short drive to town. We look forward to visiting again!
A quaint smallish cabin high above Highlands. Probably could walk to town the mile or so ,but the walk back would be a little straight up hike. We have visited Highlands in the Fall for 30 years and love the area!
Wonderful Getaway in Highlands, NC
This was the perfect cabin for my husband and me. Very close and convenient to all the wonderful things Highlands has to offer. We will definitely come back!
Perfect, cozy cabin for a mountain getaway
We stayed in this adorable cabin with our 2 children, and it could not have been more ideal for our family. The cabin was immaculate and well appointed with any supplies we needed - including a fireplace with a supply of wood! It is close to "downtown" and lots of hikes, but if you'd like to stay home and enjoy the view, there is a deck with chairs and a table. It's perfect!
Connell was a gracious host who quickly replied to any questions we had before arriving. We will definitely be staying here again on any future trips to Highlands.
Value and Ok location
There were big hiccups for our stay and have hesitated writing a review at all. We booked during the eclipse with a small dog and two couples. The location was to be within walking distance of town. It is. If you are an athlete. It's on the top of a high elevation. My 4 pound dog and aged body could not do it. So don't Book of you want to walk to town and not drive. We had one car and guys took it to golf. So our day was shot. Owner was troubled about a bad mix up with her cleaning crew bowing out before our stay. Prior tenant and all of us worked it out. The real disconnect came with the living room sofa and the fridge not making ice. Ice cube trays could have fixed that. The sofa needs a cover or replacing. It was really rough. Stained. I'm sure that will get handled in time and not affect your stay. Use an extra sheet to cover it. We appreciated the owner's willingness to refund money for the issues prior to our arrival. So in summery, good value, minor issues. Don't plan on walking. Ask if fridge is fixed. Owners are easy to work with.
This wonderful mountain town comes alive during the summer season with community events and weekend arts and music festivals. Pick up a copy of the local paper, The Highlander, to read about all the goings on around town!
