Get away from it all!
If you want peace and quiet with a wonderful view and good facilities, this is a great place to be. Car hire is essential as access is via a long narrow road/track down from the outskirts of Fasnia, itself up in the foothills. Facilities are good but you either eat in or drive. Haute cuisine is hard to find and the local restaurants are a little basic but there is a good hob and kitchen area at the farmhouse. There is also an excellent sauna, indoor hot tub and small outside pool with a breathtaking view but the weather was a little cool - we chose a bad week weather wise. There is a large indoor BBQ room next to the sauna area as well. Bedrooms are large with good beds and each of our two bedrooms had their own bathrooms though access to bedroom two was through bedroom one. There was provision for an infant with cot and high chair and both were fine.
A real gem!
We arrived at the las cases del Camino real in the dark due to our flight being diverted to the north and were a bit apprehensive but that vanished immediately, the place is a real gem and we loved every minute of our stay. We had read other guests reviews in our villa and all were saying how lovely Carmen was, we did not meet her until our 3rd day and new immediately what they meant, she is a wonderful lady as our her the members of her family which we had the pleasure of meeting. They really are the most welcoming and friendly folk and added to the magic of the hacienda, even allowing us to sample the vegetables fresh from the garden! The pool/BBQ area is great our kids enjoyed it and we all had many early morning / late night dips. Fasnia is a lovely village and what we saw of Tenerife also, we spent a day driving through the back roads and national parks to el Teide and the scenery is stunning. However, we have much more to see and if Carmen permits we will definitely be staying at Camino Real! Many thanks for a wonderful holiday.
We absolutely loved our stay. Very friendly reception, stunning rooms and a nice location.
This place is awesome!!! This 15th century house was masterfully renovated to include modern conveniences while still maintaining the integrity of the past.
Carmen and Nicholas are great. They greeted us upon arrival and told us because of an error within home away the original accommodations we rented was not available, but not to worry. They upgraded us to the main house which is literally a house out of the movies.. (look up the Spanish movie "Happy 140" and watch the trailer...THAT'S THE HOUSE!!).
They gave us the grand tour of the house which includes an incredible common spa building. The spa building houses a steamroom, jacuzzi, and a sauna with a fantastic view which we used every night.
If you rent a car this a great place to serve as a base camp to explore the entire island. It is only a short drive to the main highway.
We have stayed at quite a few rental by owner places and this is probably the nicest place we have ever stayed. If you are planning a trip to Tenerife and you want something different from the usual touristy condo/resorts, do yourself a favor and stay here.
Was man beachten sollte:
1. die Fincas sind auf ca. 600m Seehöhe, also lange Anfahrtswege über kleine kurvige Straßen. Dafür hat man einen tollen Ausblick und Ruhe.
2. Es weht auf der Südost-Seite oft ein sehr heftiger Wind, auch im Innenhof ist man nicht wirklich geschützt.
3. Es gibt keine wirklichen Fenster, das heißt es gibt Fensterläden aus Holz ohne Glas (nicht beschrieben); man sitzt entweder im Dunkeln oder die Fenster sind ganz offen; ist ganz sicher ein Problem in der kühleren Zeit und es gibt keine eigentliche Heizung;
The cottages are located in the south of Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain), in a village called Fasnia, 380 metres above sea level, surrounded by an agricultural setting not much altered. The location is ideal, as it combines the tranquillity of the surrounding countryside with the proximity of the coast, which is only 6 km away.
In the surroundings, you will find villages which have preserved the essence of Tenerife (places serving traditional meals, small traditional wineries, traditional festivals, areas of traditional cultivation...), services found in any big tourist areas (beaches, restaurants, theme parks...), and very beautiful and interesting natural areas.
Everything is close, but we recommended you to use a car.
