Guestbook comments from the owner

Rented the Milolii almost ocean-front home over Valentine's Day week and got each other! It was a great trip. The home was clean and well stocked. Milolii is definitely off the beaten track, but we shopped for some fresh fish and grilled a nice dinner at sunset most evenings and ate on the lanai. It was wonderful. There were not really any bugs at this time of year either. The local beach is a 10 minute drive with a short mile walk. The sand was comfortable. The palm trees were swaying. The snorkeling was fine. We even saw an octopus. A short walk north of the home is a great snorkeling spot (when the ocean is not too bouncy). Not really a beach to lay out on though. There is a small bridge that leads to a minimal railing to ease yourself down into the water. A rope attached to the railing is your exit point. The fishies are assorted, colorful, and in large schools. The experience rivaled Captain Cook and was just a short walk away from the home! We are looking forward to a return trip.

"Loved this place"

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from staying at the Hula Hut, and we loved it. Melanie was awesome always answering emails quickly. My boys loved it here, they did not want to leave. We parked our car at the Milolii fishing village parking lot and walked a trail that is marked with yellow arrows to a black sand beach, we were the only ones there all day and walked up to the rocks where the boys jumped off rocks into the blue water below.

The place is exactly as described, actually the pictures do not do it justice, it was beautiful and peaceful. We sat outside and rocked in the swing in the evening and just enjoyed the tranquility, In the laundry room there were boogie boards, snorkeling gear, umbrellas, and chairs, and ice chest, water shoes and more. Also very stocked with supplies in case you forget anything. Funny thing is a guest at another place came by to borrow milk and told me he had to spend 3 hours cleaning the place he rented before he could stay , I showed him Melanies place and he was shocked at the luxury. I strongly recommend this place and it will be my first choice when coming back. Thanks Melanie!!!!

A perfect place to get away from it all

  • 4 of 5

We found everything we needed in Melanie’s house. The location was lovely and the community quiet with great neighbours. The view was amazing and jt is a great spot to venture out to any point on the island. This is a great place to get away from it all. We arrived late at night and had to check in to confirm access, Melanie was immediately available. We had no problems, the house was clean and well stocked with plenty of space for our family. We agree this was our best trip so far. Melanie provided area information and allowed us to check out late. I highly recommend this property.

The Good, and a little not so good

  • 3 of 5

The good: reasonably clean (not pristine but livable), lots of beach towels, off the beaten track, nice lanai to watch the sunset from, good washer/dryer, big cooler for your use, well-stocked cupboard. The not so good: you will lose 1-1/2 hours every day driving up and down the windy road, no beach, Port a potty in your view, no shower downstairs, bad mattresses. Tip: locate the black beach, its worth a look, but the powerful underrtow makes it dangerous to swim in.

The house is great everything we ever needed was here.

  • 3 of 5

The house is great the road to it is terrible, it takes 15 min to go three miles very very curvey. I have sensitive ears and the going up and down was terrible. No beach for swimming, but did watch the whales from the lani almost every day.
