Overview

About the property

3 bedroom, 1/5 ba with roomy kitchen and minutes from downtown

Minutes from downtown, Biltmore Estate, Biltmore Village and The Blue Ridge Parkway, this home is in the heart of one of Asheville's most distinguished and peaceful neighborhoods, Kenilworth, on a large lot across from a park. The front yard is fenced, and the back deck gives a private spot for relaxing in our mountain weather. 3 bedrooms: master bedroom upstairs features a queen memory foam mattress, and the 2nd bedroom has 2 singles. More private downstairs room has double size futon and is perfect office. Living room, fireplace, and dining area make this perfect for a weekend retreat or a months-long stay.

Space

The kitchen is fully outfitted, has a water filter in the fridge and fresh herbs are growing in the gardens and on the deck for your use. The 2nd bedroom can be switched to a queen with advance booking & request. We love Asheville and moved here after staying in a short-term rental that made us feel so at home, and we want to provide the same for our visitors. We live in town and are available by phone or visit, if you need.

Guest access

Check in is via the Kevo keyless entry system for self check in. Access to large neighborhood park designed for kids, great for toddlers up to teenagers.

Neighborhood overview:

Kenilworth was developed in the late 1800s into the 1900s by the Chiles family, whose mansion sits across the park from our house. A historic neighborhood, it is perfect for long strolls and features many award-winning gardens managed by diligent owners.

Getting around: Uber or rental car is recommended.

Other things to note: Stairs to the 3rd bedroom and laundry. You might see a bear in the neighborhood if you're lucky! You'll definitely see wild turkeys roaming or roosting in the back of the property. Our neighborhood requires dogs to be leashed when walked, as many folks walk their pups daily. Our 30 day minimum policy is based on Asheville law, but we welcome longer stays and understand if you don't plan to be on vacation for a month!

About Rachael

I moved from Austin, Texas to Asheville because we just love this town. We love to brew beer, garden, enjoy the mountains with our 3 year old, and learn more about the history of Asheville whenever I can!

Rachael purchased this house in 2016

Why Rachael chose Kenilworth

I purchased this house for my mother, and certainly would have purchased it for myself if I hadn't already owned a residence in Asheville. This house embodies the charm of Asheville, as it was originally built in the 1940s and is nestled in a historic neighborhood known for similarly adorable architecture. Close to downtown but still on a quiet, private street, it's wonderful for a restful stay and convenient to all the best attractions for a more busy vacationer. It was a perfect home for my mother, with the wonderful park across the street.

What makes this house unique

The arches, original hardwoods, period touches like the fireplace and original windows, are all so relaxing. There's always something blooming in the yard and watching the wild turkeys roam around gobbling gives me such a giggle! The neighborhood is full of the friendliest folks with lots of dog walkers.

Home in Kenilworth neighborhood of Asheville

  • 5 of 5

We chose this lovely home in Asheville as we began our search for a permanent residence. The neighborhood is beautiful with a park across the street for the children; with grocery and shopping malls close by. The home is tastefully decorated and comfortable meeting all our needs; kitchen well stocked and made cooking easy. To our delight, there is a deck off the kitchen with table to enjoy the trees;

We also were grateful for the large/safe fenced yard for our children and dogs. We stayed a month and left with fond memories of our first North Carolina home.

There's just SO much to do in Asheville, even as a local I get overwhelmed with all the options. Using this website is so helpful for peeking at the calendar of events.
