About the property

4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 12

Named after the world's largest palace of ice built in Leadville in 1896, this home takes you back to the lavish Victorian era following Lake County's mining boom. Stunningly maintained and furnished, it now offers modern comfort and amenities alongside the antiques. Twelve guests have ample room to spread out between four bedrooms, three and a half baths, formal and informal sitting and dining rooms, a breakfast nook, and fully updated kitchen. A fireplace and a large jetted tub are sure to please on a snowy winter's evening, while a hot tub is available in summer months. WiFi and TV's are available for 21st century entertainment, or you could gather for a rousing game of cards. The Ice Palace sits just two blocks from Harrison Ave, in a neighborhood where some of the town's most successful pioneers built to impress. You'll also be a short stroll to Ice Palace Park and the Mineral Belt Trail. No matter the occasion, staying at this Leadville landmark will leave you with memories to treasure!

About Melissa

On a hot July 4th, our family headed to the mountains for a picnic, holiday parade and respite from the simmering city heat. As we drove into Frisco, we could neither find a place to park, or a spot to spread our quilt. It was crowded and frustrating. We decided that we would travel a little further into Leadville. As we pulled onto main street, I noticed a country band on the steps of the courthouse. Parking was simple and abundant. The mountain vista was inspiring. This was the Colorado mountain experience I was looking for - relaxing, simple and beautiful! Shortly after that day, we began our search for a mountain home in Leadville. It took 4 years to find the perfect place. When I stepped into the Ice Palace in 2013, I knew immediately that we had found our perfect Colorado retreat.

Melissa purchased this house in 2013

Why Melissa chose Leadville

Shortly after moving in, I began to research Leadville history in general and Ice Palace history in particular. It has been a fascinating and fun endeavor. I love that Leadville is a community and not a resort. Because of this, we have made lots of friends. The stories and legends they share are captivating. More historical information is found in all of Leadville’s 9 museums.

I have hiked this area for years. Currently, I am loving my four-wheel drive vehicle. There aren’t too many roads that I haven’t explored.

I invite you to come and have the Leadville experience. Like me, I am sure that you will drive onto main street, smile and relax. This place is great.
