About Marna David
Your hosts are two sisters. Stephanie has an extensive and creative background in antiques and furniture refinishing while Marna has been busy for years as much historic architecture in New Orleans as she can manage. While we'll give you your space and privacy, we ARE on hand with, hopefully, helpful information--or help--if needed.
Marna David purchased this House in 2001
Why Marna David chose Marigny
LOCATION!! (As we always say). The hustle and bustle and all the fun is never far away--but you can come "home" for a respite in a beautiful setting.
What makes this House unique
New Orleans herself is unique! It always has been--but now, in it's rejuvenation post Katrina, it has managed to both retain it's historic fabric and culture but become a mecca for entrepreneurship and artistic expression (we have the AirLift--a house that is an instrument! It is an acoustic marvel). I fell in love with the architecture in this city and this house was my first. I think you'll fall in love with it too!

Hot Summer Days
I had such a wonderful time behind the green do. So eclectic and beautiful!
Marna and Stephanie you're the best! I'll always return here by myself. Lol!
Thank you! The market is the best.
Way too hot!
The property was in a good neighborhood, it was clean and a perfect size for 2 people. The check in/out process was very easy and we enjoyed the decorations. We had one big problem though, it was hot! I don’t mean it was a little warm. It advertises that it has air conditioning and technically it does however, there are 2 small air conditioners one it the bedroom and one in the living room. Both have signs that say not to turn the a/c below 78 degrees. So the coolest it can be is 78 and that’s too warm for us. The a/c unit in the bedroom did not seem to be working properly which resulted in us cooking in our bed all three nights we stayed. Very little sleep was had it was miserable to be in the house at all. While the neighborhood is within walking distance of the French quarter and Frenchman street it is not well lit at night so we choose to get a Lyft during the dark hours instead. If the A/C situation was better it would have been a perfect place to stay and I would recommend it but sadly for us it was a miserable experience.
Lovely stay in Marigny
Excellent location - close to the action, but not so close you won't be able to sleep at night because of loud parties everywhere. Well appointed with everything you need, and perfectly decorated. We would definitely stay again.
Also... Marie's Bar & Kitchen on the corner is serving up some of the finest jambalaya we found! A lovely retreat after a long, hot, swampy day in the French Quarter.
"A lovely retreat". What fine thing to say about our space. You made me laugh with a hot, swampy day in the French Quarter. So pleased that you liked the charm of The Green Door. Do come again!!
Great place for an adult vacation
This property was fantastic for our needs!! It was beautifully curated and still comfortable for lounging. Close to the chaos but far enough away we could relax in quiet after a long day. There are lovely bars and restaurants in the area so you don’t have to go to the Quarter or Frenchmen if you don’t want to.
Good food at St. Roch Market, Elysian Bar, and boozy iced coffee at Who Dat.
There isn't a host ever who would not love to have the word "curated" in their review! And you couldn't be more right about the peacefulness of the space to unwind after a day of New Orleans' action. We also love the local spots you mentioned. How lucky can we get? Thanks for the wonderful review!
Cozy Romantic Local Flare
Outstanding location, property, amenities, and owner.... ! As a 30+ year traveller to NOLA, I can tell you that you will love everything about this rental. Hotels - are you kidding? This is experiencing New Orleans as though you are a long time resident / local. Neighborhood is surprisingly quiet even with 'very colorful' local bars just down the block. Parking was never a problem, and the St. Roch Market is literally just a few steps away. Book early - for these prices this property is an amazing value. Thank you Marna, we will see you again....
Wow!!! This review is a host's dream! You make all the points we would make ourselves--and more. What could be better than feeling like a New Oreanian? Many of our guests are concerned with parking--so your note about that will be very helpful for our future guests. And location? We know that we are SO fortunate in that....so glad that you experienced that, too. So...c'mon and visit with us again...we would hate to see you stuck in a hotel!!!!
This place in Marigny suited us two old gals very well. If you want action or all night jazz then this is not the place for you. If you like comfort and quiet after a long day of walking then it’s perfect. It’s close to the St Roch market for great impromptu suppers, and the best breakfast restaurant in New Orleans, Who Dat Coffee Cafe. ( We wished we had discovered it sooner).
We are slow walkers but even we found the French Quarter, and Frenchman’s Street not too far away. About 20-30 minutes. If we got tired we used the trolley line ending at Elysian Fields which is 5 minutes away.
The place is decorated with antiques and collectibles. They are all very charming. A brighter light in the living room might be helpful for last minute sorting and packing. Otherwise the house suited all of our needs.
Stephanie was helpful in a cellphone emergency and called us a cab for the day we left. Thank you!
The Who Dat! It's pretty great isn't it? So happy that you found....and mentioned......all the best things about the neighborhood and The Green Door. It sounds like you had a great time in the Marigny and in New Orleans. Thanks for the fine review!
Coffee shops abound! The local Fresh Food Co-op is one block away and groceries can be "made" at the Mardi Gras Zone just a few more blocks away. Funky dive-bars and craft cocktail watering holes are plentiful and within walking distance. Restaurants from fine-dining (The Franklin, Feelings, The Country Club, Paladar 411), BBQ (The Joint) to the quirky (The Lost Love Lounge or Mimi's), Middle Eastern (Schiros)...you name it. It's all here. Night life litters St Claude Av and the local gold standard of Frenchmen Street is at hand. Art galleries. Even a couple of theaters (offering small presentations, slam poetry, plays and the Spotlight New Orleans Show is just up the block. You can look right at the newly renovated St Roch Market by standing out front in front of the house.
