Enjoy the entire main level of this home with a view. Katherine, the on site host, lives in the lower level sun basement, and is is available to help if you have any questions or issues during your stay. I’m also only 10 minutes away. The vaulted ceilings and cathedral windows place you in the midst of 180* views from Mount St.Helens to Mt. Hood. There is a wrap-around deck to get even closer to the trees with an outside dining area so you can enjoy dining al fresco. Inside of the home you will find a fully equipped kitchen. We also supply a spice rack, condiments, coffee, tea, cream, drinks, fruit and snacks. The dining area and living room with a fireplace for cold evenings are in the main room with gorgeous views every time of year. You will have two large bedrooms; the peaceful periwinkle room with 2 queen beds and views of the trees, where you can choose to sleep on the cozy tempurpedic memory foam mattress or the comfortable Amerisleep mattress. We have a variety of pillows to choose from also ( memory foam, memory foam with gel, and regular soft pillows). We provide down comforters with duvet covers and extra blankets. In the king bedroom you will find a comfortable memory foam mattress. The king room also has a desk with a Herman Miller desk chair (super comfortable) and a smart tv with Roku. Each bedroom has its own ductless heating/air conditioning system, so you can get the temperature just the way you like it. The bathroom has a shower and a jacuzzi tub. We provide shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hair dryer, and any extras you might forget like razors or toothbrushes. Also you will have your own laundry room (we provide detergent etc) stored with games for the whole family. When it’s not raining, take the pathway on the right side of the house to sit and enjoy the garden patio. You are welcome to scavenge for blueberries and strawberries. Your home is on the main level, and is wheelchair accessible. This is a quiet neighborhood near the trails of Mt Tabor park where you can see the some of the best Portland sunsets, and in the summer, enjoy music in the park every Tuesday night in July and August.
You can also walk (10-15 minutes), or drive (3 minutes) to the nearby Montavilla neighborhood where you'll find the Montavilla farmer's market every Sunday, the iconic Academy theater, wonderful restaurants, and cafes. Montavilla was named one of the top 10 neighborhoods to see in the nation by the Lonely Planet! On Belmont and 69th (a short walk through the pretty residential streets) you will find Coquine, a highly rated farm to table neighborhood cafe, and Mandala Yoga, which offers a great assortment of classes.
This is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Portland, because you are in a beautiful park (and volcano) yet central to all the excitement that the city has to offer. Your host family lives in the sun basement unit on the property and will be pleased to assist you with any issues or questions when you are here. We love hosting and want to make sure our guests are happy and comfortable.
