Maui Kaanapali Villas is right on one of the most beautiful beaches in the World-- Kaanapali Beach! The beach is pristine and sandy with the water averaging high 70's-the waves are minimal. It is a wonderful swimming beach.
Black Rock, famous for its snorkeling, is walking distance and the activities center on-site rents snorkels.
The oceanfront restaurant, Castaways, has excellent food and is known for it's extensive wine list. It is right next to the pool, for easy dining and has a shuffle board court for added fun.
There are lounge chairs on a grassy area overlooking the beach, two pools- including a hot tub and kiddie pool! You can rent cabanas for the beach and relax in the Maui sun!
The general store on site has little necessities and there are markets nearby for making your own meals, if you wish. The condo's kitchen is fully stocked w/ cooking supplies and the new BBQ's are awesome for doing some island cooking!
Whalers Village offers world class shopping and is a good walk (1/2mi) or short drive away (2minutes). There is a free shuttle to Whaler's Village from Maui Kaanapali Villas- every half hour. Around Whalers Village are 5 hotels all offering a variety of restaurants as well as the Hula Grill and Lelani's, where you can listen to live Hawaiian music and eat some pupus or enjoy a happy hour Mai Tai. Every night the Sheraton has a Sunset Black Rock Ceremony, not to be missed. Kaanapli Beach Hotel has a hula show every night at 7.
The golf courses in Kaanapali and Kapalua are world renowned. A 5 minute drive south, and you'll be in famous Old Town Lahaina. Lahaina has numerous restaurants, art galleries and little shops.
The unit is almost a 1000 sqft, so it's very roomy. There is an ocean view from both sides of the condo-but it is not an ocean front view--it's at an angle. We are on the 5th floor of the main building-there are elevators. MKV is right on the beach, there is not a road or anything between the resort and the ocean.
We were just there, putting in brand new queen size beds, all new kitchen appliances/dishes and all new linens, as well as updating the decor!! This is our favorite place in the world and we hope you enjoy our second home as we do! Live Aloha!
We LOVE Maui! My husband grew up coming over here and I too fell in love. It is SO relaxing and you don't have the culture shock of traveling out of the US (with language and food). It's our Shangri La!! Since having 3 girls, we've found the island incredibly kid-friendly. Please feel free to ask any questions, as I have advice for the fun-loving kid-free couple (that we used to be) and the Mom with young children. The island is beautiful and we are so lucky that God has blessed us with such a beautiful place to visit and we want to share it!
Heather purchased this condo in 2006
Kaanapali Beach is unique in it's geographical location- it's almost ALWAYS sunny there. You can drive a couple miles north to Kapalua and it will be drizzling and a little chilly (tropically) and Kaanapali is warm and sunny. It's weird, but delightful. Also with Lahaina so close there are endless dining, shopping and gallery opportunities. It truly is our Shangri La, and one we can enjoy with our kids. :)
MKV is more the 'old school Hawaii' type resort- which we LOVE! The pool is ideal for children, so close to the restaurant and the grassy area is amazing. You can make your stay at MKV as relaxing or exciting as you want. Lounge on the beach, or take a nap on the grass. OR rent a hobie cat and snorkel all around. BBQ yourself, or walk next door the Westin for dinner. Dukes (one of my fav restaurants) just opened and is walking distance too. There are higher-end fancy restaurants too, if you want a romantic dinner, or live music happy hours. MKV is the place to make the perfect vacation for YOU, the possibilities are endless.
First time on Maui, absolutely loved it and will be back annually...hopefully! Many thanks to Heather and Joey for letting us use your condo. Best all-round holiday we've both been on, beautiful, relaxing, lots to do! Mahalo for everything!
Just returned from our family trip to Maui. We have stayed in many Kaanapali-beach resorts until we discovered this gem a few years ago, and now we only stay here. It is always excellent. Heather, the owner, is a pleasure to work with and very accommodating. The affordable cost makes it easier for us take in an extra luau or snorkeling cruise during our stays. Being on the 5th floor affords incredible views. The condo is clean, comfortable, and very relaxing to help you settle into "Hawaii-Time." The kitchen has all we need as we cook most our meals here at the condo. The restaurant at the resort is called Castaways, is good, and worth checking out! The MKV resort is incredible and gets even better with every stay; friendly, helpful staff and beautiful grounds with two excellent pools and a great beach. The Wednesday afternoon Manager's Mai Tai Party is also fun for both adults and kids. The resort is located right on the beach-walk, or for a short, fun ride, we just take the free Kaanapali-Trolley to Whaler's Village. Honestly, I am surprised when I notice that this condo is not rented every month. I recommend renting this condo to both families and couples who wish to enjoy Maui.
Loved the location, the property , the room and the beds! So comfortable and had everything we needed. Loved the price and the ease it was to communicate with the owner. Thanks for opening your piece of heaven to us!
We had high hopes based on photos and owner's updated information on their site. Unfortunately, the photos were misleading. I'm not certain what appliances were upgraded, but the stove had three of it's four electric coiled burners sticking out/up and it could not be used. Knobs on the kitchen drawers and cabinets were falling out and not screwed in. The carpeting was quite soiled and the furniture was outdated and we were hesitant in wanting to sit on it. The bathroom shower drain, even after calling maintenance (who were not contracted to perform the service), still filled with water to your ankles while bathing. We are from Maui and are very familiar with accommodations. While it was easy working with the owner, and the location was ideal for the wedding we were attending over the weekend, I don't think I would stay at this particular unit again. I'm saying this so that others who are comparing prices of other rentals (accommodations, amenities, location, etc.) are not mislead. Hope this helps others, as this was the sole intent for my review.
We have stayed at this location before and love it more each time we are there.
It has a true Hawaiian feel to it and the staff at the front desk give great customer service.
The main tower that this unit is in is well maintained and the outdoor grounds are immaculately groomed. The pool area is one of the best. The beachfront offers some of the best coral for snorkeling. The beach walk goes through this property and takes you on a beachfront walk. Shopping is about 10 minutes away. There is a shuttle every 20 minutes that takes you to many other areas.
The onsite restaurant has terrific breakfast and lunch.
We find the atmosphere at this location to be very laid back and calm.
Even during busy spring break we found the pool and beach area to be relaxing and not cramped with too many people as some of the resorts and beaches can be at that time of year.
We enjoyed working with the owner of this unit.
The condo was so clean and spacious. It is exactly as depicted in their photos.
The view from the windows is so beautiful and the location of the unit allows for a delightful breeze to blow through from one side to the other.
The unit was priced fairly for a unit that is still mostly original finishings. We appreciated the bamboo furniture and hawaiian decor. The brand new carpeting throughout was really nice on our bare feet.
This condo was a comfortable home away from home for the two weeks that we were there.
The only reason I didn't put 5 stars for this unit is that there is no dishwasher or walk in shower.
I traveled to Maui for the first time in July with my 18 year-old son and 15 year-old daughter and in my son's words-"It was the trip of a lifetime!" The owner's condo was perfect and all she said it would be. The condo is well equipped, comfortable and "homey"- and then you have the advantage of all of the resort's amenities. This condo would be the one I would return to on my next trip to West Maui and I have already recommended it to my friends. The owner is a pleasure to work with!
The beach front is as she says- just steps from the condo and there is a beach walk that is convenient for short walks to restaurants along the beach. My son had a wonderful experience golfing at the Kapalua Bay Course, and my daughter surfed, paddle-boarded and snorkled ! We highly recommend the Plantation Restaurant for its great food and phenomenal views. We can't wait to return someday!
Great location, amazing beach (even better than I imagined!), great condo- not brand new, but clean and spacious. We had an amazing trip, great snorkeling, do the zipline! The owner was easy to work with, just a few emails and we were booked. The pool at the resort is brand new and the grounds are beautiful...VERY relaxing and mellow. We booked our zipline and a dinner cruise through the concierge, she was very nice and helpful. I got a massage at the spa--awesome! After browsing some of the other spa menus online, I am sure I got the best deal and the girl was really good! We talked with some people at the pool and they had paid way more than we did and they were in the tower too! The two front buildings on the beach rent for double or triple what we paid and we still got all the resort amenities! Highly reccommend Lahaina if you are an art lover---tons of galleries and in such a relaxed atmosphere, it was really cool. All in all, the condo was wonderful, Maui was amazing and we hope to be back very soon!! Aloha!!
