Beautiful mountain home tucked in the woods at the end of scenic Placer Valley. Enjoy spectacular views of 14,000 ft. Mts. Lincoln and Bross from the great room, and from the private outdoor hot tub on the patio off the master bedroom.
The great room, located on the upper floor, has wood floors, vaulted tongue-and-groove wood ceiling with exposed log beams, wood-burning fireplace, and miles of glass facing south and west. Very comfortably furnished, with two sleeper sofas and two Lazy Boy recliners.
This is a true getaway cabin. There is no television reception (there is a DVD player to watch movies) or internet at the cabin (there is cell phone reception). After a hard day skiing, relax, sit in front of the fire, and read a book. There is even a piano!
Three bedrooms and two full baths on the ground floor comfortably sleep two couples and two or three children, with additional sleeping available on the sofas upstairs. The entranceway stores skis and boots. The house has radiant floor heating throughout.
The master bedroom is ensuite. There is a very private patio with hot tub facing the mountains. Built into the custom cabinetry is a gas fireplace (just flip the switch next to the bed).
The modern kitchen is fully equipped. There is an island with the stove facing outwards into the dining area and great room for optimal entertaining. The dining table seats eight comfortably.
The home is just over Hoosier Pass, 12 miles south of Breckenridge, one mile from State Highway 9 on County Road 4. Although the road and drive are well-maintained, four-wheel drive is recommended in winter.
We are just 20 minutes to the varied terrain of Breckenridge, 45 minutes to Keystone and Copper Mountain, and one hour to Arapahoe Basin and Vail. There are excellent ski tours on Hoosier Pass and in the Mosquito Range for the Nordic enthusiasts. We love to ski hard all day and then return to the peace and beauty of our private mountain home.
Our (smoke-free) home is perfect for an active family vacation, including excellent alpine, cross-country skiing, or world renown ice climbing in the winter, and mountain climbing, biking, fishing, golfing, and rafting in the summer. Or, the seclusion and setting are perfect for a romantic getaway (there have been two weddings and several honeymoons celebrated in our cabin). This is what the Colorado mountains are all about!

About owners / property manager's
I built this cabin myself (well, about a dozen subcontracters and me). I even cut down the trees and peeled the bark for the posts and beams in the great room! When I can't be at the cabin, I teach economics at the University in Boulder, and race my mountain bike.

Why owners / property manager's chose Alma
We love Placer Valley. It is amazingly peaceful (compared to Breckenridge, of course). But the main reason I like the area is for the four-season recreation opportunities: skiing, snow shoeing, and ice climbing in the winter, and great hiking, fishing, and mountain biking the rest of the time. Then we relax at the cabin, or enjoy some of the vibrant festivals and city life of Breckenridge.
What makes this House unique
One of my favorite things is to soak in the hot tub looking west into the Placer Valley cirque on a starry night.

Charming cabin, great for a family!
We live in the city (Denver) and wanted to get away and see some beautiful trees for a weekend. This home is quaint, private and just charming. We have 2 small children, so couldn't exactly do too much. But, this was perfect as our 2 year old daughter enjoyed swinging on the swing, we took a small hike, and a day trip to Breckenridge for a yummy lunch and a little shopping. The mountain air is cleansing to the soul and the lungs. The cabin is big enough to spread out, but not too big! If you're looking for high-end accomodations, this probably isn't for you. But if you want a private, cozy home away from home- enjoy! We especially liked the master suite with the jacuzzi and fireplace. Would be a great place to stay if wanting to ski Breck, but not stay IN Breck. We had a very small issue with the whirlpool jets not wanting to turn off (only an issue b/c its loud and our kids were trying to sleep) and the contact person was literally there in 10 minutes to take care of the small issue. Thanks for being so attentive! We really enjoyed our weekend.
Laura and family, so glad you and your family had a nice stay. Sorry about the Jacuzzi bathtub, but good that Dave was there to fix it right away.
Come back anytime!
It was exaactly as shown in the photos. Very beautiful and cozy, private and high enough to enjoy the wonderful views from whatever part of the cabin. Property was clean and well maintained and the owner very helpful when we had questions about the place. We visited Breckenridge, a wonderful town with lotsa history and very charming. Also hiking the Hoosier pass to see the most breathtaking views ever and just the peace and tranquilty that sorrounds the area. I would definitely recommend this cabin!
We were lucky to find this treasure. My family and I recently returned from a vacation to the Breckenridge area and we stayed in this home. It is a perfect location and we always enjoyed going "home" to this place everyday. It is in a secluded area with little road traffic, in addition to the home there is an area with a fire pit and horseshoes. The stars at night are incredible, especially if you drive down to the basin on the valley and get the open sky. The house itself is very clean, modern and perfect for families. The upstairs is open and bright, the kitchen is modern...and the knives are indeed sharp. The beds are comfortable, however if you like using feather pillows bring your own. The towels and linens are very good quality. We had no problems, but I know had something gone wrong the owner would have taken care of it immediately. The owner, Don, was very attentive to our needs and provided a lot of information on things to do in the area. We are going to return next year to this very home it was so enjoyable.

Absolutely fantastic. Great home, unbelievable views, very responsive owner. Would love to stay there again. Great open floor plan upstairs, well-equipped kitchen, cozy master suite and perfect hot tub. Perfectly situated up high and far enough away from anybody else. Would definitely stay here again.

Our family had a wonderful time, even though the weather was cold & rainy. The view from the family room will take your breath away. Everyone should experience the hot tub during snow. It was a blast! The cabin is much better than the pictures. I will recommend it to my friends.

Great mountain home! Plenty of room for me, my wife, and our 3 kids, plus my in-laws. Kitchen was easy to cook in and great room was spacious, with plenty of seating and great views.
Will definitely come back.
