Guestbook comments from the manager

This place is so unique charming and has out of this world views. We spent hours sitting on our deck watching the picturesque harbor with the brightly colored sail and lobster boats coming and going. The unit is well equipped and spotless with large windows and very comfortable bed. This is a great place

Perfect cozy getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in 'The Deck House,' and it was excellent: cozy, well-equipped, and private, with a nice deck and outdoor eating space overlooking the harbor. If you are considering reserving this location, DO IT!

At Home in the Deck House

  • 5 of 5

I loved the charming, thoughtfully appointed Deck House (think NYC apartment, but with cottage charm). Javier has a beautiful garden of flowers and vegetables right on the property, and was frequently there maintaining the garden and property. He and Don are absolutely lovely owners. I woke to the sounds of the water, gulls, and lobstermen taking their boats out for the day and ended the day with a glass of wine on the deck watching the sun go down. Far from the madding crowd in Bar Harbor, yet very accessible to Acadia, where I spent my days hiking. Beal's was within walking distance - very convenient. I needed relaxation and got it - could have stayed forever, and can't wait to return.

In love with Acadia

  • 4 of 5

My first visit to the "quiet side" of Acadia, what a nature's playground. Everything I love. Nice place, great owners. Everything we needed very efficiently there in a studio - all on a small scale but so fun and economical. Thanks!

Feels like an oceanside tree house!

  • 5 of 5

This beautifully decorated cottage sits above the harbor in Southwest Harbor and has a fantastic pine tree growing around it. The views are spectacular and you really feel like you are in Maine. The unit is well equipped and private, has WIFI and cable TV. The bed is comfy and the cottage is spotless. In the early morning the sunrise lights up the harbor and reflects on the beautifully colored lobster boats. The sunset is fantastic as well. This was our first visit and will not be our last. We have laready booked next year.

Enchanting Cottage over the Water!

  • 5 of 5

Where do I start? If you enjoy georgeous views of a quintessential Maine harbor filled with colorful lobster boats, beautiful sunsets and quaint comfort you will love this place. This cottage though on the cozy side has the feeling of being in a tree house over the water. A pine tree actually grows thru the deck. The place is spotlessly clean and has big windows on two sides for a very open feel. The deck is spacious and private with comfortable chairs and small dining table. The bathroom has just been redone and has a sky light that makes showering fun. The kitchen is compact but has a full size refrigerator and stove with oven. The linens are of high quality (more like an inn than a vacation rental). The unit has original art, wifi and a flat screen TV. You won't watch a lot of TV as you will be spending most of your time on the deck watching the lobster and sail boats passing by. Having coctails at sunset on the deck became our nightly tradition, followed by a stroll to the center of town for a great dinner, ice cream or a lobster next door. Southwest Harbor is THE place to stay while visiting Acadia having everything you could want including access to the park right at your fingertips. The owners also have an inn across the street and even invited us for breakfast one morning which was a nice touch. They are warm and most helpful in planning activities during your stay. The cottage is small but is one of the most unique and memorable places we have ever stayed and we travel a lot.
