The floors are original maple hardwoods from the 30's that have been refinished with a satin sheen. The rugs are wool amish woven. The home is energy conscience with solar panels, a nest thermostat and ceiling fans. Central air and heat along with an office area, Wi-Fi, apple TV, and cable television make this home and ideal spot for your vacation.
The location is also ideal for guests visiting the University as it is only 2 miles from campus. It is a very nice 10-15 minute bike ride to the main University campus and not much more if you want to bike downtown or to the hike and bike trail along the river. The J. J. Austin is a unique town and Hyde Park is one of the very best neighborhoods in town -- quiet, safe, peaceful with lots of local flavor too.

I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana but moved to Austin, Texas in 2005 following a very historic hurricane in my hometown. I never thought I would move to Texas, but Austin is really special and I love living in the Hyde Park neighborhood. I co-host for friends and neighbors all over town (and in New Orleans!), so please let me know if I can help as a co-host, to manage cleaning, or to just be a back up when needed. I am 49 years old and have worked for the University of Texas at Austin for over a decade. I am the go-to for many coordinators looking for 3-6 month stays for their visiting scholars, professors and researchers on international exchanges. I also keep in the know about large conventions coming to town and co-host for folks downtown. I spent a good portion of my early career working in Europe and Asia and lived in London in my 20s and early 30s, so carry both US and British passports. I have travelled a lot over the years and look forward to meeting you and making sure your time here is peaceful and enjoyable. Hope to hear from you soon, Margo
