About Jeff Whitmoyer

Melissa and I purchased this wonderful cottage a few years ago and have loved it since the day we did. We've done so much to the house, new floors, new kitchen, new bath, and much more...a true labor of love. This is our weekend house and we would like to share it on occasion during periods when we can't make it down. We've enjoyed the active lifestyle that characterizes Monterey, enjoying biking, kayaking, motorcycling, hiking, waking, shopping and dining. We're happy to share or favorites and how to live life like locals, if only for a weekend.

This is our first time sharing this home, and are only looking it share it with folks that enjoy staying in and taking care of a place as if it were there own.

Jeff Whitmoyer purchased this house in 2009

Why Jeff Whitmoyer chose Monterey

This cottage provides a true local experience. Love it if you like making coffee in the morning, sitting outside on the patio, wanting to be close-in without being in a hotel, being able to cook breakfast and going out to great restaurants for dinner and being able to walk home. It's comfortable, warm, and hospitable.

COZY COTTAGE 🏡

  • 5 of 5

This is a cozy little cottage with all the comforts of home. Pictures and descriptions are accurate. Beautifully decorated with quality furnishings giving the place a very homey and welcoming feeling. Perfect for a couple.

The outside chaired deck and patio is a great place to relax after sightseeing in town all day, which is about a 10-20 minute walk from the cottage. Lovely garden off of deck offered hummingbird visits.

Jeff the owner is a very friendly guy and quick to respond to questions or give local information. With much to visit in the area this is a cozy homebase to return to.

Charming and quaint, but...

  • 3 of 5

The cottage was adorable and the location to town was perfect. Jeff was there to greet us and show us around. Very nice guy! The kitchen was well done with top appliances. There were a few things, though, that give it a three star rating. It is next to a high school so the morning and afternoon traffic was pretty bad, including all the students walking past. Parking was difficult, at times, since the cottage was also across from an apartment building. Two beautiful glass doors lead out to the side yard, but, these beautiful glass doors had no window covers. There was no privacy at night from the cars and people walking by. They could see right into the bedroom and bathroom. We ended up tacking up a sheet for our three week stay. I don’t mean to sound like a complainer I just wanted to let others know.

Owner's Response: Yes, the house is located near the local high school and there is morning and afternoon traffic when school starts and lets out. On occasion street parking can be a challenge, but we have off street parking that is not mentioned in the listing. There are glass french doors that do not have window coverings that open to the deck. It is not at all fair to say that people waking by can peer into the bedroom. The bedroom has a door that provides complete privacy. Given that the french doors are glass, we suggest making coffee in the morning while wearing a robe.

Great small house in Monterey

  • 4 of 5

Rented for Car Week 2017 - excellent location to be near all the action. Small and comfortable, with all the amenities of home. Note that only street parking is available - that was no issue for us (we had 2 cars), but some may want to know this.

Really a great little place to hang out for a few days.

Cozy, quiet, convenient

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at this updated cottage. It is quite spacious inside, with a newly remodeled kitchen, eating area, nice bedroom and bath, and living room with comfy seating. There are nice decks and and outdoor patio. The yard is generous and our puppy enjoyed romping in it (it's pretty dog-proof unless your mutt is a big digger or destroyer), and he could see the street from the porches.

It's on a quiet street but a short walk to downtown or a bit longer to Fisherman's Wharf, with all the shops and restaurants to serve your tastes. The owners are gracious, accommodating, and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.
