About Annette and Paul
Cozy Cabin Adventures offers vacation cabin rentals in North Central Pennsylvania and Hocking Hills, Ohio. We have 10 cabins to choose from.
Annette and Paul purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Annette and Paul chose Lock Haven
Our family has been visiting this mountain for more than 80 years. It is our home away from home. Firedog offers all the amenities of home but is tucked away in the deep woods of Pennsylvania. We love the porches and back yard. Inside, we really enjoy the wood burning fire. Hyner View, which is only 13 miles away, is a breathtaking vista. Hang gliders frequent this spot due to its wide open overlook that is 2,000 feet above the west branch of the Susquehanna river below.
What makes this Cabin unique
Firedog is fully equipped with everything you need but is still a cozy and peaceful cabin to visit. SItting on the front or back porch, you just melt into the surroundings, listening to the sound of the animals all around you in our wooded lot.

Great place to relax and spend time with family
We enjoyed the accommodations at this place for our family getaway. It was nice to have a kitchen with many useful items and a dishwasher. The bunk beds could use some better mattresses. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy a relaxing time together.
It was our pleasure to host you Dean! Thanks for choosing to stay with us.
Cabin in the woods
This cabin was the perfect little getaway for our family weekend visiting our son at Lock Haven University. It was spacious and had everything we needed. We will keep this information handy for next year.
Thanks so much for choosing to stay with us while visiting your son. We are really happy that the cabin was a place you could get together, relax and enjoy some family time together. That is our goal and why we rent the cabin. Thanks again!
We had a relaxing, wonderful time!
The property is always clean and tidy. Everything you need to enjoy yourself is there. We saw deer and a flock of wild turkeys during our stay!
Thanks for choosing to stay with us again Cathy! I am glad you were able to see the turkey. They must be roosting nearby because they visit frequently. See you again next year!
A perfect getaway!
Firedog cabin was the perfect setting for our forest retreat with friends. The cabin had everything we needed and more. We were very comfortable. We were glad to find that our sprint and AT&T service were not available at the cabin (and for maybe 30-45 minutes in any direction) - getting unplugged for a few days was just what we needed. The screen porch was our favorite place to hang out for meals or to play games. The gas grill was perfect for cooking our dinners. The fire pit was comfy and the sky was dark enough to really see the stars and fireflies too! The firewood provided was ample, well-seasoned hardwood and it burned well. We hiked a challenging trail at Colton Point State Park about an hour drive to the north and enjoyed beautiful views of the canyon at sunset. On the hottest day of our visit, we went for a swim at nearby Little Pine Creek State Park Reservoir. The water was a little murky, but with water shoes the cool reservoir water felt great. We saw a small shy black bear twice during our stay and we were greeted by the neighbor's chickens on the first afternoon. Breakfast at Fin Fur and Feathers was delicious and the folks who work there are fun, friendly characters. Thank you for sharing Firedog with us for a wonderful long weekend!
What a thoughtful review! Thank you sharing your experiences so future guests can have these helpful ideas and points of feedback. We really appreciate that you chose to stay at Firedog cabin. Thank you!
Rustic charm with plenty of indoor/outdoor space
Nine family/close friends ranging in age from 15-73 stayed in Firedog for an extended weekend in late November and we were very pleased with the house, its location, amenities, and lot size. Even better was Paul's (owner) responsiveness to all our questions prior to our arrival (Thanks Paul!). We had no major issues arise during our visit and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time in the home and the surrounding forests. We spent time outside by the fire pit, we chopped wood, we played some yard games, and hiked. The home's interior had plenty of space and the satellite TV, washer/dryer, propane grill, two full bathrooms, and cell phone reception (Verizon, not Sprint though) were added benefits. There was an adequate amount of cookware and utensils and the large dinner table accommodated all of us. We HIGHLY recommend this home for those looking to enjoy the outdoors while having plenty of interior space for a large group.
Nice spot for a getaway
The house was nice, not too fancy, and a great deal. We had a bunch of kids and it was well suited for a family trip. I wish I had known that there was not going to be any cell phone signal whatsoever. I work in the medical field and even though I was not on call it felt wrong to be entirely disconnected from my clients in case of emergency. No cell signal could be a huge advantage for some, but I wish I had known ahead of time so I could have warned my clients a bit more.
We had a great hike at Little Pine State Park, we unknowingly took the most difficult trail (Panther Run, I think) and were rewarded with an amazing view! We made the trip to Hyner View and that was totally worth it too. I had one son that was not excited about going, and he said it ended up being one of his favorite parts the weekend.
The house has a private setting, we could barely see some neighbors through the trees, so that was nice. The owners were responsive and the security deposit was refunded quickly.
Thanks for a nice weekend!
We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay. Little Pine and Hyner View are our favorite also! Not sure which carrier you have but we have Verizon and receive full coverage at the cabin. Sorry that you were unable to connect. We will add this to our description. Thanks!
