Cabin at the foot of the Wind River Mountains
A rustic cabin on Fremont Lake with fireplace, deck, walk to the lake. Great location for mountain biking, sea kayaking, canoeing and taking hikes. Modern furnishings electric stove, fridge, dishwasher, bathroom includes toilet, shower and sink. Log pole bed. Deck has a view of the glacier fed Fremont Lake in the Wind River Mountains. Cabin has a loft upstairs with a queen bed. To sleep 4, an air mattress and a cot are available to set up in the living room. The views are incredible and you can watch the sunset over the lake. The night sky is incredible and I frequently sleep on the air mattress on the deck watching the stars. The elevation is approximately 7800 feet. The stairway to the loft is circular and a bit narrow and steep. This is great place to relax, enjoy the outdoors, read a book and sip a glass of vino on the deck watching the sunset over the lake. You can be active or you can just chill. No internet service except via cell service which is spotty at the cabin. Internet service is available in town at numerous locations for wi-fi including the public library. A very romantic and picturesque setting. The bedroom is upstairs in the loft. I come to the cabin to center myself when things get a bit hectic, it's very peaceful. A good place to read, write or even paint the view from the deck. If my schedule permits, I will be happy to take you on a boat ride on Fremont Lake upon request. You can also rent a pontoon boat from Lakeside Lodge which is 4 miles away. I do want to note that this property is not toddler friendly due to a spiral stairway, decks, etc... please no kids. The cabin sleeps 2 .

About Ward Wise
Owner is a licensed Real Estate Agent with Jay Fear Real Estate. Ward is an Alpine Ski Coach, avid cyclist, backpacker, boater and sea kayaker. Ward and his wife Natalie have 3 children, 2 boys in College and 1 girl. They enjoy boating on the lake and being active outdoors. Natalie is also an Alpine Ski coach and former racer. Ward has cycled around New Zealand and in parts of Australia
Ward Wise purchased this Cabin in 1985
Why Ward Wise chose Sublette County
This property has been in the family since 1958. Ward and Natalie have upgraded the property and enjoy spending time with the family at the cabin. The cabin is known as the "Bear Trap", due to the Grizzly Bear trap that is hanging from the beams in the living room. The trap was found after a forest fire by my Grandparents and Dad after a fire swept through the mountains near Fayette lake in the 1940's. The trap was taken to the Forest Service and no owner came forward, so they gave it back.
What makes this Cabin unique
A very rare location on Fremont lake due to the proximity with the lake and the views. There are trails and dirt roads to walk to get some exercise if desired, or walk down to the lake. The dirt road into the cabin is great mountain biking and the location is 20 minutes to the Elkhart Park trailhead for backpacking into the Wind River Mountains. White PIne ski resort has summer activities such as horse back riding, campfire cookouts, and mountain bike trails - 15 minutes away. The cabin is also very quiet and a great place to just relax, read a book, and spend quality time without distractions.

Getting away from it all
Amazing place to get away from it all! Beautiful scenery, peace and quiet, reconnect with nature, very limited contact with other people. This is the place to get away and reconnect with yourself! Ward and his family are incredibly nice and I was honored that they shared the slice of heaven that they own with me :) I couldn't have asked for a better getaway.
Thank you for letting us know and reminding us of how special a place it is. The place looked great, we hope to see you next year. Safe travels on life's journey. Cheers.
Unplug and enjoy the beauty that Wyoming has to offer. This cabin and location did not disappoint. Our host was attentive, informative and generous. The cabin was clean and welcoming. We hope we can find time to push away our busy schedules and go back to recharge our souls soon. Thank you Ward and family.
We appreciate the kind words and am glad you found the cabin as was described. It is a very special place. Come back and see us ! Thank you for being great guests.
What a place to retreat from the world. We stayed 3 days and wish it could of been much longer. The cabin, the views, Pinedale, all wonderful. Ward, the owner is by far the best host we have had the pleasure of meeting in all of our years of staying in VBRO places. We are already planning a return. Stay here!
We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay. The leaves will soon be turning colors in late August and through September - so come back and see us! We look forward to seeing you again.
Pinedale Wyoming, (pop. 2500), is an outdoor recreation paradise. The town has a 9 hole golf course with views of the Wind River Mountains, mountain bike trails at White Pine Ski Area, Pinedale Aquatic Center, cycling on the paved roads, windsurfing on Fremont Lake, sea kayaking, snorkeling, - just bring your own gear. The location is also ideal for just relaxing and getting away from it all.
