About Ben DAcounto
I've lived in the area all of my life and have enjoyed the beautiful beaches and local shore line. I'm an avid boater and water skier. I work as a regional manager in the pharmaceutical instrumentation field. I am also a father of three amazing kids who also enjoy the coast and many local attractions.
Ben DAcounto purchased this House in 2017
Why Ben DAcounto chose West Haven
West Haven has some of the most breathtaking deep sandy beaches in CT with ample parking and no crowds. This is an ideal vacation spot for families who want a relaxing vacation and only 10 min to Yale. The area also includes local outside restaurants with LI views including the well known Jimmies and Stowes of Savin Rock with some of the freshest seafood in the area. There are many amenities within walking distance including great take out Italian Pizza, Oyster River Restaurant, Rita's Ice Cream, Key Bank, Dollar Store, Liqueur Store and a Gas Station/Convenience Mart, etc.. The area has many attractions from fishing to clamming, kayaking and bird watching.
What makes this House unique
Located across the street from the ocean this Nantucket style home with ocean views from many rooms was totally renovated in 2010 with open floor plan, outside shower and modern ameneties. A second and third floor was added with widows walk offering dramatic views of LI Sound.

Comfortable and cozy except for the road noise.
This house is great for a family getaway--- plenty of space and just steps to the beach and restaurants/shops. Would definitely stay again1
Great Shore Location - Great House!
The property was a great base of operations along the CT coast near New Haven, where we have family. The house is beautifully maintained and newly remodeled creating an attractive and comfortable residence. Walk across the street to the Long Island Sound and there is a nice little, quiet beach with abundant wildlife; wading out was fun for children seeeing fish, crabs, etc. Restaurants within walking distance added to the convenience, plus shopping nearby. Readily accessible to New Haven was a plus for our family and made it easy to enjoy the upscale shopping there. A minor problem arose with a hornet’s nest in nearby shrubbery, but owner was attentive to the problem - always accessible and responsive. All in all, a great week with family in a great location.
House was clean well maintained private comfortable expansive fully stocked w household amenities- beautiful clean sandy beach across the street. Neighborhood restaurants- our fav was the Dive. ❤️ This place and want to go back next year!
Lovely large house with great view of The Sound directly across the road
We enjoyed our stay in this West Haven house. Is a really large & spacious property with plenty of room for a comfortable stay. The master bedroom and living room have a great view across the road to The Sound and we really enjoyed sitting on the balcony and enjoying the view in the evenings with a glass of wine. All the bedrooms were a good size especially the master which is huge! The owner let us use their Kayak's & life jackets which the kids loved and made use of. We especially enjoyed the walk all the way round the beach to Woodmont when the tide was low. The only points I would say to improve the stay for us would have been to have side lamps in the master bedroom and some lamps in the living room (we moved the tall lamp down from one of the bedrooms in the evenings as main lights too bright). Full length mirror in the master & darker blinds or curtains over the existing white blinds in the kids room. We had a lovely stay, thanks for having us.
Great beach house!
Lovely house, just as pictured. My family of four recently rented the house for a week’s vacation. We had more than enough room, including a small yard for the kids to play in. Upstairs are three bedrooms and one full bath. Main level is a full bath with laundry, dining room, kitchen and a small living room. There’s also a small loft as a third level but we didn’t go up there with the kids. It was so nice to have laundry and a full kitchen, and the outdoor shower was great so we didn’t track sand in the house. The driveway can fit two cars in a line. There is limited street parking as well.
Owner Ben was very responsive to my many questions. I’d definitely rent from him again.
About the area. The beach is steps away across the street. It’s very rocky, which is common to New England. With two younger kids, we needed a more typical, sandy beach and drove each day about 25 minutes to Penfield Beach in Fairfield. My kids loved the West Haven beach for exploring though.
There’s a grocery store only a couple miles away, and a Family Dollar within walking distance. Also in walking are several restaurants, post office and ice cream. I highly recommend driving 10 minutes into West Haven for Zuppardi’s Apizza. There’s also a nice playground a few minutes drive, Anderson Avenue Playground.
If I were to visit West Haven again, I would rent here again. It’s a great house!
The West Haven beaches and shoreline are one of the states foremost locations to observe rare shore birds serving as a migratory route to some of the most endangered bird species. The estuary is also where Sammy the harp seal has been spotted.
