Come delight in the breathtaking ocean view from the lanai here at Hale McKane. Located in the beautiful Ke Nani Kai resort, this is a condo to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Moloka'i while spending time with your loved one. Picture a romantic, candlelit dinner on the lanai with the sun setting over the ocean in the background. Wake up to a cup of coffee while watching the dawn break on the water and surrounding hillside. The resort is nestled close to the ocean amid a closed golf course. Although the golf course is closed, the paved golf cart paths remain that lead to wonderful walks by the ocean beaches, cliff fronts, and through the fields. The landscape is filled with blooming trees, flowering shrubs, and flowers galore. There are wild turkeys and peacocks that wander the resort and surrounding fields and one can often see a monk seal resting on the beaches in the early morning.

We desire that you love this place as much as we do. We fell in love with Ke Nani Kai and jumped at the opportunity to get a unit with one of the greatest views here. It is an upper unit with the vaulted ceilings and skylights to provide a light and airy atmosphere. It is a 2-bedroom unit with a king-sized bed in the master bedroom and a queen-sized bed in the guest or “garden room”. The sofa can also be made into a queen-sized sleeper if necessary. There are two bathrooms with a tub/shower combo in the master bath and a walk-in, corner shower in the guest bath. The kitchen is fully equipped for your cooking needs and the dining room has a full-sized table. We have set up a desk area for your convenience as well. The living room has two sofas and an easy chair as well as a Blu-ray player, flat-screen tv, and over 25 DVDs and Blu-rays to watch. The condo also has a clothes washer and dryer as well as dishwasher for guest use.

We have worked hard to set our condo unit up to add the extras that will help make your stay more pleasant. Being technology friendly was important so we have a charging station and power strip by the desk area to aid with your technology. We also put up shelving as well as power strips next to the beds for guest convenience. There are coat trees and hooks to serve as towel/clothes racks to help you hang your wet items to dry out after the beach or pool. To help you enjoy your stay, the condo comes equipped with snorkel gear, beach towels, books, games, tennis equipment, picnic basket, and folding beach chairs you may borrow. We have added extra shelving in the closets and throughout the unit to help make it convenient for your use. We have stocked extra bath towels and bed linen for your use also.

The Ke Nani Kai resort has the largest swimming pool on the island with chairs and chaise lounges to enjoy all that sun. It also has a large, wonderful hot tub to soak in after your day’s activities. There are BBQ’s for guest use as well as tennis courts. The registration office has a friendly staff who will issue you a pool-code as well as answer resort or island questions. They have books to borrow for reading as well as island guides and hand-outs for guests.

Moloka'i takes you away from the hustle and bustle of life and lets you enjoy the beauty that the real Hawai'i has to offer. This island has the tallest sea cliffs in the world, the longest white sand beach in Hawai'i, the Kalaupapa peninsula with its incredible history of the leper colony, and of course - the “Moloka'i hot bread”. What Moloka'i lacks is traffic lights, crowded highways, giant malls, and Starbucks and McDonalds.

We have come to love Moloka'i for its peaceful atmosphere and friendly people that leave you relaxed from the chaos of everyday demands. It has all the beauty of Hawai'i but leaves behind the crowds. Without the crowds, you can enjoy each other more as you soak up the nature around you. As mentioned, the wildlife around the area include wild turkeys, peacocks, as well as cardinals and many other variety of birds. I love my early morning walks to do yoga on the beach and often get the company of a monk seal. The axis deer are small with white spots lasting their lifetime. They are plentiful so take care on the roads. We have a pet gecko that we like to watch on the lanai. It catches the bugs and we don’t have to worry about feeding it. We just need to housebreak it. There are many beaches nearby the condo as well as an entire island to explore. Come enjoy the friendly island of Moloka'i.

About Andy & Debbie McKane

We are Andy and Debbie McKane. Andy's dad was a navy doctor so he grew up all over the United States. Andy developed his love for Hawai'i as a boy living there 2 different times while growing up. He proudly proclaims the fact that he lived on O'ahu when Hawai'i became a state. Debbie was born in Alaska and raised in the Flathead Valley just outside Glacier Park in Montana. She developed a love of the mountains and nature as a young girl. She enjoyed Hawai'i but fell in love when she came to the island of Moloka'i.

We enjoy traveling and do a great deal of it mostly to help in our research of Pearl Harbor. Andy's dad was in WWII and it became a passion of Andy's as a young child. As he studied and researched it, he found many details that did not add up and has spent a lifetime researching the details. We have spent months in archives and libraries digging up military records, newspapers, and other documents. Andy has an extensive library on WWII and you will find a small sampling of it at the condo. His specialty is on code breaking, intelligence, and development of US war plans leading up to Pearl Harbor.

Another hobby of ours is 4 wheeling in our Jeep Rubicon. Andy is a car man through and through. Having once owned a Land Rover parts and repair shop, he loves Land Rovers and now includes Jeep Wranglers in that love. We currently live in Utah close to Moab and Monument Valley and love to go "Jeeping" all we can. We also have come to love the back roads of Moloka'i and are excited to discover much more.

As we fell in love with Moloka'i, we jumped at the possibility of owning an incredible condo such as we now do. We recently purchased the condo and worked hard to set it up nicely for ourselves as well as for our guests. We are currently unable to live full-time on Moloka'i and hope our guests come and love it as much as we do.

Why Andy & Debbie McKane chose Maunaloa

Having stayed at some of the other condo complexes on Moloka'i, when we stayed at Ke Nani Kai we instantly fell in love. We loved the spacious garden feeling we get there as well as the nicely manicured lawns and gardens. It has great amenities like the large pool and hot tub. As we looked for condos for sale, the view from this lanai took our breath away. The upper level, unobstructed ocean view is incredible. We love being there and waking up each morning to that view as well as watching the sun set on it each evening. The vaulted ceilings and skylights that make it light and airy were a strong selling point also. The fact that it had a second bedroom and bathroom for our own convenience as well as for guests when we have them was great. The ease of interaction with the local wildlife wandering through and around the complex also added to our pleasure.

The island of Moloka'i is also very impressive. We love the friendly people of the island and the small town feel. The scenic beauty of the island is awe-inspiring. We love morning walks along the beach and watching the waves crash against the rocks and shore. We love the wildlife that is abundant all around us. When you are staying here you feel nature all around you. Additionally, we also love getting away from the chaotic world and spending time together as a couple.

Delightful time on Moloka'i

The condo had everything we needed for a relaxing and comfortable visit. The kitchen was well-appointed and made it easy to prepare a meal or a snack. The lanai is large and provides a wonderful view of the sunset as well as birds (including some wild turkeys) and geckos. Beach access is conveniently close and the nearby beaches are beautiful and were sparsely populated when we were there. The owners were a dream to deal with and were courteous and helpful. Moloka'i is a quiet, peaceful island and this is a great location for enjoying it.

Getaway from it all!

Beautifully maintained condo in this popular resort! The bed was comfy, the kitchen was well-stocked with cooking utensils and a few condiments. I especially liked the skylight in the kitchen -- it made the room so bright and cheery! The owner, bless her heart, was kind enough to send me a detailed inventory before I left home, so I knew just what I did and did not have to bring with me! Sunsets over the ocean were lovely. We plan to return to Molokai next winter, and if this unit is available, we will happily rent it again. Mahalo for providing us with a great place to get away from Iowa in January and February!

lovely place

Nice view of Papahaku beach and fun to talk with the wild turkeys wandering by. Beautifully decorated and appointed condo. We appreciated both the snacks and the selection of books about Hawaii. It was fun to use the tennis courts and swimming pool nearby.

The deposit is not applied towards rent, but fully refundable within 14 days of departure providing the following conditions are met:
1) No damage is done to unit or its contents and no items are missing
2) No charges are incurred during the stay
3) Debris and garbage placed in dumpster, dirty dishes put in dishwasher and dishwasher started before leaving.
4) Key left in lock box and additional key left on key rack
5) No linens or towels lost or damaged

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
