The Sea Buoy Cottage is a lovely one bedroom cottage in the Historic District of the charming and quaint waterfront town of Beaufort, North Carolina, recently voted #1 Coolest Small Towns of America and listed as Nicest Place in the South by Porterbriggs! Situated on the coast of eastern NC in the Southern Outer Banks, our sweet little coastal town is an interesting mix of southern gentility and folkloric tales of Blackbeard the pirate, it's infamous former resident. Built in the late 1800's, the Sea Buoy Cottage is a perfect seaside retreat to experience the joys of the Crystal Coast with the beaches of Atlantic Beach a few miles away and the boardwalk, marina and great restaurants and pubs of Front Street just a couple of blocks away. Carrot Island borders our Front Street and the herds of wild horses often graze in full view... the colors of the grasses and water change with the tides and the seasons and is truly food for the soul. Across the street from the cottage is another marina and waterfront area with wonderful sunset views. The old bridge into town will be shut down in Sept 2017 and this area will be turned into a green park space.
Tastefully decorated in a classic seaside theme, Sea Buoy Cottage sleeps 5 in a luxuriously accessorized queen bed, a set of bunk beds and a full size pull out couch (please indicate if you need linens for the pull ask that this only be an option for families with children as the cottage is not large enough to accommodate adult groups). Relaxing front porch with swing and chairs to enjoy the sunset or your morning cup of coffee and fenced in newly landscaped back yard with seating, table/umbrella and new charcoal grill (complete with pirate ship sandbox for the wee ones!). Full washer and dryer and kitchen makes for everything you need to enjoy a seaside retreat. Flat screen TV in living room with wifi also installed. So many adventures are available to enjoy while in Beaufort, whether the beaches of Atlantic Beach, boating in the Carolina waters, or exploring the national parks of the Outer Banks. Great shopping and antiques also available along Front Street and the historic cemetery, Maritime Museum and historic British double-decker bus tour are not to be missed! Dive center just across the street from the cottage as well to plan your adventures in the many shipwrecks in the area. Duke University's Marine Lab on Pivers Island is just around the corner.
Longer term stays for snowbirds or Duke Marine Lab students and teachers available, pricing on request.
Please note, we start renovations soon! We want to make the bathroom larger and update the kitchen a bit. Please note that linens should be on the beds when you arrive.
