We started coming to this area years ago to rock climb. Now we love to get away with the whole family when we get the chance. The kids love being able to run free in the back yard and experience nature.
The Owner purchased this house in 2003
We love the New Paltz area! We started coming here years ago to rock climb in the gunks. Since we have had kids we have discovered, many beautiful hikes, swimming holes, farms, horseback riding, berry and apple picking. It is really great to have an escape from the city, the kids love it, we don't even have to leave our back yard to have a relaxing nature filled vacation!
Our house is back from the road, and opens onto huge deck that overlooks a beautiful back yard. We have a new cedar jungle gym that entertains the kids for hours, as well as a large sand pit. Behind our yard we have acres of woods to walk, ski, snowshoe and toboggan in. We loved that our house has some country charm and does not feel at all suburban. Our property has a stream that runs along besides it, you can walk along this stream to get to a beautiful waterfall.
We reserved Hardenburg Road for the week of our daughter’s wedding. Three of us arrived four days in advance. It was dark when we pulled in but as soon as we found all the light switches we were delighted. The kitchen was the largest and best equipped I have experienced in either a vacation rental or a timeshare. There was plenty of room for my sister’s family when they arrived. A crib was provided for her grandson and the six-year old granddaughter made full use of the jungle gym. We grilled out and then relaxed around the fire pit. Once the house filled up, it was especially nice for the parents of the bride to have the spacious master suite as a private retreat. Donna was a great host, responsive to our e-mails, providing alternate routes and answers to our questions. The wedding was spectacular. Hardenburg Road was a close second.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It was very comfortable and relaxing. The views to the backyard were gorgeous. We also enjoyed the fireplace and fire pit, which added to the charm of this house. We would definitely stay here again. It was also a plus to deal with a great owner!
The house was very comfortable for the 7 of us. Very spacious on the inside and out. The house has a sort of open floor plan. The living room has a really relaxing atmosphere with comfortable couches and useful fire place. The wood burning sauna was a huge plus. The house is located near a small river that you can pleasantly hear from deck and a short downhill walk takes you to it. We look forward to coming back in the summer!
The house was great, especially if you have kids. There are books and toys which kept our boys entertained when they weren't on the swing set, or playing in the garden, or exploring the path to the creek. The three rooms (kitchen, dining and living room) are actually one contiguous space, and that whole area became a focal point for us since it meant we could still be together even though the boys were playing in the living area and we were in the kitchen. Overall, it was a nice house and one that we'd consider going back to.
Attended a family affair near Poughkeepsie and rented this house to accomodate three families. Beautiful setting, well equipped house with ample amenities and even an outdoor playground for the kiddies. Everything worked well, was clean and up to date. Simply a pleasure to stay there, comfortable and the owner was immediately responsive to our pre-arrival questions. We honestly had no questions while staying there because it couldn't have been better.
