About Donna Nield
We started coming to this area years ago to rock climb. Now we love to get away with the whole family when we get the chance. The kids love being able to run free in the back yard and experience nature.
Donna Nield purchased this House in 2003
Why Donna Nield chose Rifton
We love the New Paltz area! We started coming here years ago to rock climb in the gunks. Since we have had kids we have discovered, many beautiful hikes, swimming holes, farms, horseback riding, berry and apple picking. It is really great to have an escape from the city, the kids love it, we don't even have to leave our back yard to have a relaxing nature filled vacation!
What makes this House unique
Our house is back from the road, and opens onto huge deck that overlooks a beautiful back yard. We have a cedar jungle gym that entertains the kids for hours. Behind our yard we have acres of woods to walk, ski, snowshoe and toboggan in. We loved that our house has some country charm and does not feel at all suburban. Our property has a stream that runs along besides it, you can walk along this stream to get to a beautiful waterfall.

Beautiful place. Well kept and spacious.
We didn't really use the house at all because we were running an ultramarathon but the rooms were all very large and the common areas allowed for people to spread out as well.
I would definitely stay at this property again!
fresh, clean, open air stay!
I would rent this house again. Its situated in the middle of a quiet neighborhood with plenty of open space, great for small group that likes to have meals and socialize in the open air kitchen/living room.
My family loved the spaces, both for congregating and for retreating. We also liked the quiet and the fact that you can feel lost in the woods but still have all the modern amenities you need. We even had a chance to play in the snow with the sled. My toddler, husband, mom and I had fun outside, while my mother-in-law, dad, sister and brother-in-law enjoyed the quiet, warmth and serenity inside. The wood stoves were great and really set the mood. The place is nicely updated but still retains some yesteryear touches. We will definitely recommend this place to others and also hope that we can see it again in warmer weather.
The eight of us in our immediate family, including our two grandchildren, had the most wonderful Thanksgiving weekend at this special place surrounded by woods. The children enjoyed exploring and the stream only resulted in one damp curious foot :)
We enjoyed our Thanksgiving feast - that was easily prepared in the kitchen - around a huge beautiful new dining table. The open space was perfect, and didn't turn on the tv once, but chose to have constant game playing instead. Our grandson enjoyed making fires in the wood stove, and an evening gathering around the outdoor firepit was perfect.
Everyone was comfortable and we all loved the house. Just don't want to give another family the idea of spending next Thanksgiving there!
Great stay with multiple Hudson Valley activities - oil painting, Hyde Park, Vanderbilt Mansion, hiking options were unlimited as well. Owner was responsive and helpful! This home provided an awesome meeting place with our adult children, not just bedrooms, but separate areas inside and out where we could be together....or not! View from Master was an amazing scene to wake up to each morning.
House was all it said it was and more
The owner was more than accommodating and the home is very much as described. Cute cozy and quaint and it will not disappoint.
