About Earlene Evans

Mike and I are fellow Tennessee Squires. We celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, Oct. 1, 2017.

I, Earlene, have taught preschool for 33 years in Lynchburg. Hubby works at an area High School.

We enjoy traveling both Tennessee and the United States. Hubby, Mike, was in the Navy for five years and traveled the world extensively. We love meeting people and hosting travelers.

We have a travel page for people in, around and visiting Tennessee to know what is happening so they can decide what to they might want to do, experience and attend while here.

If you have time, visit some of our state waterfalls, area parks, the Cross at Sewanee, The University of the South, the Natural Bridge at Sewanee, Stone Bridge Park in Fayetteville and more.

We are the parents of three adult children. Two of our children are teachers. Our older son installs telecommunication lines for a military base. Our children have given us six grandchildren ages 3-23.

Why Earlene Evans chose Lynchburg

We purchased this property because it touches our other property. At the time of purchase we wanted to buy a home close to us for my mother. Just as we closed on what was Mama's house, she became ill, was in and out of intensive care, nursing home rehab and was diagnosed with kidney failure. Mama is prepping for dialysis as her kidney function is down to 3℅. Since she is unable to live alone, she resides in Manchester where my retired sister can care for her.

So hubby and I did not know what to do with this property. We knew that we wanted to keep it. We thought that we might rent it by the month when we retired but feared that monthly renters might not care for our home, Mama's home, as we would like. One day a dear friend suggested listing it on VRBO.

That, dear friends is what we did. We sold every stick of furniture and started all over. We painted the walls, bought new mattresses and foundations as well as furniture. We took pictures and uploaded them.

This is where we are today, testing daily rentals for retirement income.

We have a basketball goal, are putting up horseshoes, trying to figure out where to put a volleyball net, planning a pavilion to seat at least 16 people, two chimineas, ceiling fans and lights as well as a grill. We are also planning an outdoor movie screen. We are also hoping to buy cruiser bicycles so guests can take a leisurely ride down Golden Rd. It is a 7/10 mile long dead end road with beautiful scenery. We are trying to have a lovely place to visit with people from all over the world, family,, neighbors and long time fiends. Thank you for being a part of our journey.

What makes this mobile home unique

When you rent Chanticleer, you are renting the whole mobile home in a quiet, country, neighborhood from fellow Tennessee Squires, Jack Daniel fans. We do not bother you but allow you to visit with us, if you choose.

Our little spot in the gently rolling hills of Lynchburg is laid back and much like Mayberry, happy and peaceful.
