Worked for our large group despite being tired around the edges
20 of us (plus 4 in the mobile home on the grounds) stayed here in this beautiful house for 3 weeks. There are loads of positives about this house - the bar area, the dining and sitting areas, the gorgeous fireplace, the outside spaces (especially for eating out) were fabulous. It is rustic and somewhat worn but actually this added to its charm at times. Beds were excellent throughout and the benefit of air conditioning in the bedrooms really appreciated. We insisted Wi-Fi be added before we rented and it seems strange that the owners will remove this we are told after we left.
There are some less positive issues though - for the number of people we had staying there were just not enough bathrooms and not a single family bathroom so guests had to use showers in other people's rooms. (However we never ran out of hot water.) Bizarrely there was not enough cutlery and we had to ask for an extra fridge to be added for this many people. The oven was too small for this many and had only one shelf but the large outdoor BBQ area was great and we used this every night.
The pool area is very tired. There are two pools - an indoor heated one and an "outdoor" colder one which warms up slightly if you pull back the retractable roof each day and open the side doors - but it is not an outdoor pool in the traditional sense and is pretty much still enclosed. The sunbathing area outside the pool is a nice idea but was a poorly constructed dias covered with fake grass that was so potted with holes that many of our group fell here and dropped drinks and the unevenness of the floor meant that the sunloungers broke quite often - something we had to pay for. This was dangerous and a bad accident waiting to happen.
There is a hot tub but actually this rarely got very hot and the very helpful and lovely caretaker who comes with the house didn't know how to work it. We used it twice in 3 weeks as it was too cold.
However the well-tended garden views were lovely and the privacy and peace at the house beautiful. Honeysuckle and bouganvillea in the garden and on pathways. The location for us was good being only 15 minutes to Avignon and less than 5 minutes to decent shops and supermarkets. The local town is a 1 mile walk but other than fabulous bakeries there is not much there!
We paid extra for a cleaner and she was great.
This house is tired and needs some TLC but is lovely and we enjoyed our stay immensely. It worked for us we would recommend it.
