I have been traveling back and forth from California to Costa Rica for over 14 years. I still find this part of Costa Rica to be my favorite. This is the perfect place for the baby boomer: close enough to the fun areas but far enough away to enjoy the quiet and gentle sounds of nature.
Owner purchased this Condo in 2008
Why Owner chose Cantón Santa Cruz
This is my most favorite area in all of Costa Rica. It's a short walk to the beach and also a central location to get to many different areas. It is close to some great golf courses and close to some of the best beaches in all of Costa Rica. We also have some great un-crouded surfing spots close by.

Construction was in progress the entire 3 and 1/2 weeks we were there.
Construction was in progress the entire 3 and 1/2 weeks we were there. The unit next to us was completed replaced from floor to ceiling - the noise was awful. To rent this villa out was disgraceful. The owner had an agent on the property, Jolly Harbour. When we moved in we were not told that the unit adjacent was under construction. We were reassured by the owner and the agent that the remainder of the work would be completed within a few days. 24 days later it is nosier than it was when we moved in. The marble tile cutting, electric sawing was done mostly on the deck that was separated from our unit by a short 5 foot wall that only extended out a few feet. I could go on and on about the lack of privacy and the debris from the work on our deck etc. I only wish that I had a recorder that could be used by the owner when he takes his wife on a special vacation.
This renter has mistaken my unit from another one he had rented. My unit is a condo not a villa, I do not have a agent on the property named Jolly Harbour, we do not have marble tiles and the renter never mentioned anything about any construction next door the entire time he was here.
Nice Place and wonderful view
Nice place in the near of the beach. Enough place for 4 people. The view from the balcony was wonderful.
Our stay was perfect!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The condo is very roomy and well laid out. We loved the large balcony and really liked having a telescope to view the lovely and lively natural surroundings along with the gorgeous yaught anchored in the bay. The pool has a beautiful view and we ate at the restaurant on location almost every day. There are two of the most beautiful uncrowded beaches I have ever seen a short drive down the road. Mark was very helpful and gave us lots of great information that helped to make our stay special. He was also kind enough to offer an extra days accommodation when we thought me might have to stay longer. Lisa H. - Ridgefield, WA
Can't wait to return!
We absolutely loved staying here for a week. The condo, lodge, pool, and restaurant were so nice to return "home" to after a great day at a local beach or other adventure. Plus, the view, the staff, and the closeness to real Costa Rica were outstanding. This is a great place to stay if you really want to experience Guanacaste beaches, food, culture, and nature.
Could be better
We stayed on Conchal in 2015, and were excited to return to the area. The Condor Lodge condo location is perfect, and Mark helped us discover another quiet, beautiful beach.
The condo is well situated with the unquestionably the best view in the area. We enjoyed many mornings and late afternoons on the balcony. The restaurant is good, and convenient at times as alternatives all require a gravel road or 4WD adventure. The condo has all the basics, but lacks in three key areas. The first is cleanliness. The second is the condition of the towels. The third is a finicky hot water system with uneven pressure. All in all, we had a good stay, but it could have been a great stay with more attention to detail including new linens, and a thorough, professional cleaning.
A deep cleaning is done to the condo unit every 3 months.
There is a large supply of towels and most are new.
A heat adjustment was made to the hot water system as per the renters request while she was renting. The hot water is super hot.
The condo at condor Hights had great views.
First let me start by saying Ruth and I are owners of 7 vacation homes, and pride ourselfs of offering our guest good clean homes and make our check in easy. We arrivals right at 2 PM the time we were emailed that we could check in. When we check in at Condor Heights the man at the reception office had our reservation but didn't know we had paid already and which home we were renting. I had to show him that our payment was made thru VRBO and he was still confused. We knew it was a third floor unit but he told us that all the units on the third floor were rented. So he put us on the second floor in the building next to the office/restaurants That unit was spotless well equipped and clean. We move in with all our belongings and went to lunch. At lunch I sent an email to the owner that we had made the reservation with on VRBO and told him we are not in his Unit and which unit we were in, and then went to the beach for the afternoon. When we returned at 7 PM there was a card in the door and what unit we were to move to and that the owner was waiting for us. When I went there He told me he was there all day waiting for us and that he had sent me the Unit number in an email. I showed him all the mails from VRBO and there was no email telling us where to go when we get to Condor Heights. He was also drinking beer all day as well as when I was talking with hm he left 3 empty beer bottles in the kitchen and towels in the dryer. He told me he live in the unit and when he rents it he moves in with his girlfriend. The condo was not clean as would be typical of the homes in Costa Rica. Also one night doing dishes the water heater pressure relief vale under the counter opened when we informed the owner he said it had happened before didn't seem to care. We have rented In Condor Heights before so we will not be going back to this unit.
Myself and the property management take great pride on offering the best service we can possibly provide. This renter must not have downloaded the maps with the directions that were email to him. I took extra action and left directions on several parts of my VRBO website. All renters are provided maps with directions.
Short, easy walk down to the beach. All sorts of activities listed on the site. Also check out the new cell phone app for VRBO that has more information about activities and specifics on how to enjoy the condo to it's fullest.
